I'm not sure, but I think Peter may be my father's uncle. My father, Michael, has 2 brothers, Dominic and Peter, and a sister, Mamie. They are all from the St. Louis area.

Teddy and I were best buddies at a catholic military boarding school called the Hall of the Divine Child in 1949-51...both of us hellraisers..some time in the tower....ha ha.. I did visit the beautiful house on Balfour in Grosse Point on many occasions...we lost touch when Teddy said he was moving to Arizona... Am very sorry that my good friend passed on sooner than ...well just sooner than...I knew his father to be a very astute businessman with lots of interests in the Detroit area...Teddy complained that Peter was always on the books and had little time for him... Dont know that for sure... Would have been great to receive an email from my good friend...Did Teddy have any children??I just passed 70 and have four wonderful children all grownup and on their own... My email address is cybrzone@yahoo.com and name is Dennis Burns

Re: Licavoli Posting

Your message, that you are a Licavoli from St. Louis is interesting because you mentioned you actually have pictures of some of the relatives. My father was Matteo Licavoli. His father was Guiseppe Licavoli,I believe Pete and Yonnie were my father's first or second cousins. My father never knew much about his family, Guiseppe, my grandfather, died when he was 6 months old, in 1918.He was married to Rosalie Licavoli, his second wife, they each had children from their first marriages; thenmy father and his brother were born to them. She died before my father was two at Mount St Rose a TB hospitsl in St Louis. It seems during the early 1900's the Licavoli's lived very close to one another. I would be very interested in learning more from your side of the Licavoli family tree. I believe that if all the cousins from all sides of this family were to get together it would be a pretty big affair. I would appreciate if you have any family information to share.

Guiseppe's Granddaughter

Hello,
Saw your post as I was obtaining some historical information regarding a dining room set that has been in my family for approx 40 years. It was purchased by my father from an Licavoli estate auction in Toledo, OH. in the late 60's, early 70's. It may be of interest to someone in the family, as it was told to me that it was given as an anniversary gift.(I am sure that someone in the family may be able to verify this to be true.. It is a custom, Kittinger Dining Set with a buffet, very long table, 6+ chairs and dinette.

Either way, I thought I would share and relate some information.

Best regards,

My great grandmother was Maddalena Licavoli. She came to the US in 1914 and stayed with her brother Vincenzo Licavoli in St. Louis then moved to Detroit. Vincenzo Licavoli came to the US in 1909 and stayed with his uncle Salvatore Ventimiglia. Vincenzo and Maddalena's mother was Felice Ventimiglia and father was Salvatore Licavoli. Does anyone have any info they can share on the Licavoli Ventimiglia families in St. Louis? My great grandmother Maddalena married a Tocco in Detroit. Have lots of Tocco info, really need Licavoli side. Please email to kasaz@cox.net.

Hey Phil,

I'm a grandson of Peter Licavoli, My mom Gerri is the twin of my uncle Mike. Mike is still alive and did not die of a heart attack. My grandfather's other son Teddy Licavoli died about 9 years ago of cancer. And about my grandfather being a prominent Don of the mafia you got that all wrong. it was because of his brother Yonnie that gave the Licavoli's a bad name because of what he did in his own life. Yes my Grandfather Peter knew a lot of mafia poeple but he was never in it as much as poeple would believe. My grandfather had 5 children Gerri (my mother) her twin brother Mike, Peter, Cathy and Teddy. And my Grandmother was a Bommarito.

I just moved so I will need a couple days to dig through the boxes to my hope chest where the information is. I am sure you are seeing that the Licavoli's are a well known Michigan family mostly in Detroit. You will soon see the the St. Louis Vitale's are relatives and one of the many reasons the Licavoli's would move between St. Louis and Detroit.

I show a person by the name of Antonina Licavoli from Michigan birth 3/4/1893 and death Feb 1987. This may or may not be the correct person. You will see alot of Licavoli's from Michigan area near Detroit. The Licavoli's in Detriot were part of the mob just like the cousin's of the Licavoli's the Vitalie's were mobsters here in St. Louis.

Hi Pat

I am trying to figure out my great-grandmother (Antonia LiCavoli Calenda/Orlando) genealogy.

I know that she and her husband (Napoleon Calenda/Phillip Orlando - he changed his name due to his adoption) were from Terrasini and that her parents' names were Pietro and Grazia.

Is there your LiCavoli relation? If so, do you know her siblings' names and their spouses' names? Also do you DOB and DOD as well as birth order?

I don't have any pictures of her or I would send them to you. If you have any of her or her family, I would be more than happy to reimburse you the cost of making and sending me copies.

Thanks in advance for your help.
My email address is avandeven@lycos.com

Agatha

I read with interest your email regarding Pietro and Grazia. Antonia was my great-grandmother. Do you happen to know her birth order in the family? I am just beginning a genealogy search and have very little information right now.

Antonia and Napoleone Calenda married and had nine children, among which was my father Peter or Pietro. Napoleone, who was adopted at birth, later on changed his name to Phillip Orlando.

I am the granddaughter of Faye Licavoli(died 1992) who was married to Joseph Licavoli (died 1984)
I have some dated for some local St. Louis Licavoli's I do not know the details of all the relatives mainly because I was so young however I remember both the Vitale's and the Bommarito's being said by my grandfather as our cousins.
I have dates for several Licavoli's if anyone needs dates. I have obtained copies of birth certifcated previously for my grandmother in Jefferson City and went to the library there which has many records that helped me.
I do have Rose, Francesca, Augustine, Salvatore (2) Josephine(I think this is my grandfather's sister) and couple more.

His children were Mike, John, and Judy. I also noticed you said your grandfather's name was Mike. Can you help me make sense of this? Are we even talking about the same Mike Licavoli?

Hello,

I read your post. I am researching the Licavoli family. My Great Great Grandmothers name was Luisa Scola. Louisa had family in St Louis. I do not know the sisters name nor do I know any information about her. I do know that she had sons. I know that one of the boys names was Mickey (Dominic Licavoli). Micket stayed in Pittsburg Ca for a while as a young man. The only thing I know about Mickey is that his mother was a Scola, he lived in St Louis, at one point he was in trouble, He went to jail and he made my nana (who is passed) a beautiful rosarie she said it smelled like roses from the inside. My nana loved him very much, but never knew what became of him. I would love to know. My nana talked of Mickey often. I would just love to know who he was. Any information is appreciated.

Thank You
