Edgar was born in Goole, Yorkshire uk then the rest of the Lill’s seem to come from Louth, Lincolnshire UK
I am trying to sort out my initial mess when I thought I was related to every Lill I came across! (if only it was that easy!)

Jabez and Hephzibah Lill?? Just judging by the first names I would guess they are not from the same Lill line as I am. Our Lills were Protestant Germans who immigrated to Indiana in the mid 1800's.

My grandparents are John and Myrtle Belle Lill of TX. My moms name is Ruth Lill. My great grandparents are Jabez and Hephzibah Lill.

I'm not sure of the connection. I am still doing research.

Hi, I have come across the Lill family in the Canterbury NSW area while tracing a line of my family.

I have a Henry Robert Lill born C 1915, son of Henry Robert Lill and Agnes Forrest.
Henry married a Lorna Mary Dewsnap in Canterbury in 1942.

Any connection or info?

Hello Nickola, in reply to your request Re Lills of Lincolnshire I give the following information I have re my grandmother:she is only mentioned twice on Ancestry etc. 1. her birth October 1892 (I do have her birth certificate) 2. Her family address in Elm Avenue Cleethorpes . The only other record I have is my fathers birth certificate 13/4/1913 giving Emma/Emily as she was sometimes called , his father is not mentioned as he was born illegitimately. She seems to have vanished since then as I cant find any info about her. Hope you can suggest where else I can look for info . It would be most appreciated. Best regards Barbara

I am looking for information about the Lill family who lived in the Grimsby/Cleethorpes area of Lincolnshire. I am particularly interested to find any offspring/relatives of John & Alice Lavinia (nee Markham) Lill, born 1857-1861. My grandmother was one of their daughters Emma and my father was given up for adoption. My sisters and I would love to know what became of her as we never knew her or any of the family. Any help or information would be appreciated.

Hello Barbara,

As I don't have any siblings for Thomas Lill born about 1819, apparenly in Alford, married in Sleaford, it is a bit difficult to say where any part of the family came from originally.
However, I do know Thomas & family were living in Louth from the 1851 through to the 1881 census.
His son Frederick married in Grimsby in 1873, and his grandchildren Mary Ann & Moses were in Cleethorpes in the early 1900s.
We can only keep searching and see if there is a connection.

Hello Louise, I have been checking my family tree but I dont think we have a connection. My family Lill's were from the Welton Le Wold area in the 1830's then moving to Caistor then Cleethorpes in the 1880/1890's. My g.g.grandfather was John Lill born in Calcethorpe - his father was William Lill, mother Jane Mitchison. My g.g.grandmother was Alice Lavinia Markham born Caistor in 1857. Best regards Barbara

Hello Everyone

The descendants of George LILL and William Thomas LILL, two brothers who emigrated to New Zealand in 1865 and 1867 respectively, are planning a Family Reunion, to be held on Sunday 24th April 2005, in Dunsandel, Canterbury, New Zealand.

George & William Thomas were sons of Bransby LILL (1814-1895) and Elizabeth STEPHENSON from Huttoft in Lincolnshire. They had several brothers and sisters whom they left behind in England. Bransby's parents were Thomas LILL (1857-1838) and Mary CAPES, whilst Thomas' parents were Benjamin LILL and Elizabeth WEST, married 10 May 1748 in Willoughby, Lincs.

Should anyone wish to have further details of the Reunion (or this branch of the LILL family), I'd be delighted to pass on anything I can. Any Lills planning on being in NZ around April 2005 would I'm sure, be very welcome but the organisers will need to know the final numbers reasonably soon.

I am trying to locate the Obituarie of my Grandfather, Ralph William Lill, Born Approx. in 1900, Passed in California possibly Los Angeles County in 1965. I know he passed away of a heat attack on the docks. He was a docks man.

I don't think I have a direct connection to your George Lill, however I do have a Lill connection to Barnaby Dunn.

I have a John William Lill, b 1873, Scopwick Lincs, was living in Barnaby Dunn, near Doncaseter in 1924. He was a son of William Lill and Mary Machin Murphy. He might have been married, however I don't have any of that information. His first cousin, also John William Lill, b 1880 Glasgow, was son of Henry Robert Lill and Hephzibah Dennis and was my husband's grandfather.

William Lill and Henry Robert Lill were brothers. Mary Machin Murphy and Hephzibah Dennis (Murphy) were sisters.

These families started out in the areas around Scopwick, Navenby, Lincs and later moved to Scotland sometime in the 1870's. Henry Robert's family was later found in Leuchars, Fife and William's family was later in Midlothian.

Thomas Lill was my Great Grandfather with his 2nd wife, Harriet Sutton. I have a lot more information about his ancestors (unverified) going back to the early 1500's if this is of interest?

I am a Lill who"s father came from Georgia (Bostick). I have plenty of relatives alive today but no one knows the country of origin. They were farmers until the Depression, and moved to Alabama and became coal miners and block masons. Hello Janet, I wanted to thank you so very much for that information. As I Said I am trying to get as much information as possible so that I can find my ancestors. Is that his social security at the end of the post? Can you let me know how you were able to locate that information? I am unable to do so due to the fact I can not pay the amount requested to access the records department.

I have a William Sharon or Sharon William Lill on my family tree. He married Ann Bell Dickinson in Whitby in 1868. She was from Theddlethorpe, Lincs. They had both been widowed - she was married to John Wright in Theddlethorpe - I don't know any of Mr Lill's previous life. Any links?

There are a lot of Lill's in Indiana (Ft. Wayne), but I believe the name changed after immigrating to the U.S.
