CHESTER H. LILLIE, farmer, P. O. McKean, was born in Conneaut Township Oct. 19, 1842, son of Benjamin and Betsy A. (Preston) Lillie, both natives of New York State, and the parents of 9 children; the surviving are Sylvester, Chester H., Lucinda, Betsy A., Alzada, Amanda and Alonzo. Franklin, Sylvester and Chester were soldiers during the late war. Franklin volunteered as a private in Co. B, 145th Reg. P. V. I., and at the battle of Spottsylvania Court House, Va., was captured and taken to Libby Prison, Richmond, and eventually sent to the prison pen at Andersonville, Ga., where he died in the fall of 1864. Sylvester served three years in the 3d Reg. Penn. Cav., Army of the Potomac, re-enlisting in March, 1865. Benjamin Lillie died Jan. 18, 1866, and his widow May 12, 1881. Chester H. Lillie, our subject, was married April 12, 1866, to Sallie Newell, born March 23, 1840, daughter of William and Mary A. (Pollock) Newell, natives of this State; 7 children were born to this union -- Franklin B., born Jan. 7, 1867, died Aug. 9, 1869; Carrie A., March 6, died May 4, 1869; Mary I., Aug. 1, 1870; Orville C., Sept. 16, 1872; Matilda F., Oct. 20, 1874; William H., Nov. 25, 1876, and Emma, born December 12, 1879, died Dec. 4, 1880. Mr. Lillie enlisted Aug. 15, 1862, in Co. B, 145th Reg., P. V. I., and served in the 2d Corps, Army of the Potomac, until the close of the war. At the battle of Fredericksburg, Dec. 13, 1862, he was severely wounded by a rifle shot in the breast, which incapacitated him from further service until the fall of 1863, when, returning to his regiment, he took part in Gen. Grant's Wilderness campaigns and siege of and battles around Petersburg and Richmond, in which he was taken prisoner. He was sent to Andersonville, remaining there four months, when he was transferred to Camp Newton, Ga., was then returned to Andersonville, where he was confined until discharged at Jackson, Miss., March, 1865. Mr. Lillie is a member of the A. O. U. W., G. A. R., Post No. 83, McKean; is a Republican in politics.

Notes for ORVILLE CLYDE LILLIE:
Clyde lived just a few houses away from his parents in Conneaut, OH during the 1900 census. He and his wife Nellie had been married for 2 years, had no children and resided in a rented house. He was working as day laborer. Both Clyde and Nellie were literate.

C. M. Traver and O. C. Lillie, president and cashier respectively of the defunct National bank of Conneaut, who were sentenced to six years' imprisonment in the Ohio penitentiary by Federal Judge Tayler a week ago last Saturday, will surrender themselves at the marshal's office tomorrow morning. They will be taken to Columbus on the noon train to begin their sentences.
When Judge Tracey imposed sentence he gave them ten days to settle up their private affairs. During the past week they have made arrangements for the care of their families and today they will enjoy their last day of freedom for several years.

A number of Ohio bankers were released from the Ohio penitentiary Saturday. Among them were Chas. M. Traver and O. C. Lillie, who were arrested in this city and sentenced to six years. Both men served about four and half years, being given the remainder of the time for good behavior. Mr. Traver came directly to his home in this city where he will remain. Mr. Lillie, whose wife is now living in Ashtabula, will remain either there or in Columbus.

St. Louis, Dec. 12 - Forest B. Lillie, of Guthrie Oklahoma, wholesale druggist and president of the state board of pharmacy, was today married to Miss Fannie Tyler of Johnstown, Ohio, the neice of his first wife. The couple arrived from their respective homes Wednesday, and were married at 4 o'clock this evening in the parlors of the Hotel Jefferson by the Rev. Edmund Duckworth, pastor of St. James Memorial Episcopal church. The couple will return this evening to Guthrie.
