Hi Tracy
Apologies for not getting back to you sooner -- been busy with grandchildren and family history for other people but now I can concentrate on the Limbs!
Just checked what I had on Henry Seymour Limb and did you know he had been married twice? First marriage to Maria Pape 6 June 1864 and 3 children Mary 1865, Jane 1866 and George Thomas 1867. Maria died in 1871 aged 31 and Henry then married Mary Leachman in 1872 and had 3 more children Alice Ann 1872 (died 1873) your Samuel 1873 and Henry William 1880.
Thought I would let you have this first --small doses is best!
But someone once did some lookups for me in Lincoln and said that the name SEYMOUR which they used as a second name such a lot, which we know came from Susanna, wife of Thomas but also is supposed to date back to Jane Seymour, wife of Henry VIII!!!
If you want to e-mail direct try lyndabalmforth@hotmail.com
Bye for now
Lynda

Hi Tracy
Yes, I'm still here and still researching although I have left the limbs for some time. Looking at what you know and comparing I have 7 children for Thomas and Susanna. Erminia,Seamore,Joshua,William,Samuel,Henry Seymore and Matthew. Thomas was buried 24 July 1873 at All Saints Friskney and Susanna same place 25 Aug 1863.
I only have 8 children for Joshua and his wife Ann Lakin so I am missing some! I have Henry Seymore Limb married to Mary Leachman in 1872 with 3 children, Alice Ann ,your Samuel and Henry.
You are right with Job and Elizabeth Smith but when she died in 1814 he remarried, Mary Mumby. So many people think that she is the wife of his son also Job --but his wife was Mary Blanshed (or Blanchard).Very confusing. Will leave this all with you and maybe swap more info?
Good to hear from a fellow Limb researcher
Lynda

The Harpels and Grose are the only ones I have been able to date to contect to my Luda, Josephine, and Joseph Limb.

These Family Reunions took place in Hays, Kansas.

I'll be happy to message the info since some have the potential to still be living.

Joseph and Cynthia Limb - Adams Co, IL and Pawnee, Co. KS

Hello,

I am looking for the Joseph and Cynthia Limb branch.

I started off knowing only of 2 of their children since both married into my Harpel kin but thanks to Census records, I learned of Luda's and Josephine's siblings and parents. Of course, I'm stuck yet again since I do not live in Illinois nor in Kansas. So here is what I know. :)

I just now found a listing for Joseph in 1850 in Ellington, Adams Co., IL at age 18 tho I couldn't get the image at this time.

In 1860, Joseph was still in Ellington and married with children. Cynthia was born in Ohio about 1830. Children are Lane (4), James (3), and Luda (7/12).

In 1870, I couldn't read the Census taker's writing for the town but he was still in Adam's County. Joseph had more children. Lane (14), James (13), Luda (10), Hannah (8), David (7), L *can't read the name* (dau) (4), and Josephine (1).

In 1880, these Limbs moved to Pawnee, Pawnee Co., KS.
Joseph (49), Cynthia (50), Luda (20), David (16), L-dau (14), Josephine (11), and John (7). All of the children were born in IL.

Then in 1900, Joseph is seen on the Washington Twp., De Kalb Co., MO census living with Thomas Warrall b. England in Nov 1827, immigrated in 1840 and married to Sallie Warral b. England in Dec 1826, immigrated in 1838. Joseph was born in 1832, listed as Brother-in-law, and also immigrated in 1838.

Luda Limb - 4 Feb 1860 to 24 Oct 1939 married on 5 Sept 1886 in Larneed, KS to Philip Roderick Harpel 1 April 1842 to 14 Dec 1925 They are my 2nd Great Grandparents and lived in Pueblo, CO and had 4 children.

Josephine Limb - 30 July 1869 to abt 9 Feb 1936 married Oscar Philp Haprel 3 Aug 1871 to 16 Jan 1957. They lived in Pueblo, CO and had 3 children.

Phillip,

If you're famil is from Dekalb Co, do you have a Joseph (b. May 1832 England d. after 1900) and Cynthia (Hughes) Limb (b. 1830)?

The Limbs have been out of reach. What's funny is that my Great Grandparents Grose use to go to the family reunions in Kansas and I have photos and attendee's names.

Kimberlee
isign321@gmail

I am looking to track some of my family history. It is tough going back beyond my 2nd great grandfather. From what I can tell, the original Limb on my side of the family to come to the U.S. is Jacob Limb. I think his father was Jacob. From there is just gets sketchy as I think the next two are George and George but I realize this is a common first name. There are very few Limb's in Missouri--U.S., I have only met my direct family.

Hi Gary,

I don't know about an Isaac Syson, but there are Sysons in the Kimberley area. When the Chapel was built (which has been saved, by the way), the names of the subscribers was put in brick & stone at the front of the building. There is a Thomas E Syson named on one brick. Within the past 30 years there has been a Syson on Kimberley Town Council, and there is a local removals firm called Sysons (there must be a few around).

Cheers,
Mark

Greetings from Panama City, Fl (USA).

We have the name "LIMB" in our family, but have not been abel to get any information. Alice Limb was, according to the information sent to me, was born November 1832. She married a John Wilkinson, who was born about 1838. They were both born in England. Where, I have no idea. They married in England and had children born there. My Great Grand Father, John H. Wilkinson, was born 8 October 1860 and sometime before March 1883 came to the US. I have nothing that says for sure, but I believe she came the the US along with John H. Alice and John had 7 Children. I would appreciate any information you may be able to provide which will help in our search. Please respond using the e-mail address, rwilkie33@aol.com.

Thanks for any help you may be able to offer or suggested direction I may follow./wilkie

Hi Linda
Oops - when I said 1759, I was looking at Elizabeth's birth not Anne's. I of course meant 1780. This is based on censuses and her being 84 when she was buried on 21.11.1864, all of which tally to her being born, in Wainfleet, in 1780.
Was Elizabeth's name really Smith! That really helps!
Anyway your saying that they married in 1780 helps my theory. They must have had a child before 1783 - hardly any of my ancestors did not HAVE to get married. I'm off to look for "Anne Smith" - What chance of that though!
Ian
Hi again Lynda.
I wasn't expecting a replt quite so soon given that your posting was three years old.
I am descended from Anne Limb. She doesn't appear on IGI but Job is the only possible father. She was married at Wrangle to Joseph Vaughan, the brother of Lucy who married John Limb. I need to go to Lincoln SRO to find her baptism but she must have been born about 1759. Do you know the date of Job and Elizabeth's marriage? Was it by any chance after 1759? Perhaps she is listed under Elizabeth's maiden name.
I know your Job married Mary Mumby in 1817 and died in 1855 but that's about all I know of him.
Ian

Pat,
I saw a message you posted 12/0000 in the Limb bulletin board. You said your grandmother was bord Sarah Elizabeth Limb in 1880 in England. My grandmother was born Sarah Elizabeth Pope, and married a Limb, to become Sarah Elizabeth Limb, but she was born in 1889 in America. But her husband's father, Alfred, was born near Knotts, England in 1844.
I am very interested in the history of the Limb name, and was wondering if any material your brother found in his research of the name might be available???
I think that somewhere all those Limbs from the Knotts, Derbyshire area are somehow related. Look forward to hearing from you.
Ted

Hello,

I am campaigning to save Truman Street Methodist Chapel in Kimberley, Nottinghamshire, England. The chapel was built in approx 1888/90 and was paid for by the congregation of a nearby temporary chapel. The names of many of the contributors are recorded in the brickwork and stone at the front of the building.

Thank you Karen, my attention has just been drawn to your reply to my message board query about Frederick Limb. It is probable that we are Cousins. Details of my family Tree are on: http://groups.msn.com/TheFamilyLimb
I am partially sighted, hence the large print. I have great difficulty in reading the small print on the Net which has now restricted my research. I hope that younger and fitter members of the family will carry on in due course. If, after you have had a look at the Tree, you have any queries, please do not hesitate to get in touch .Thank you for
your information.Percy Limb, at 79, the last of my generation enjoying my retirement in Cornwall.
