I am related to the Obringer's.
Lena and Barbara Obringer were sisters that came to US together. Their other sister, Elizabeth, became a nun, Sister Mary Emmanuel and brought a small group to New Orleans to start a new convent in New Orleans (I'd have to double check my sources as I'm going on memory with Aunt Sister). I used to knit slippers for Aunt Sister - Oh my! I may be giving away my age.
Lena married John H. Tiekig and lived in Concordia. They had 5 children - Elizabeth, Anne, Joe, John & Oscar.
Elizabeth was my grandmother.
You mentioned you're husbands ancestor was Mary Limbach who married Roy Feight. They were maid of honor and best man at my grandmother's wedding as Mary and my grandmother were 1st cousins. I have a picture of them if you would like me to send you one.
Bob, I noticed your last name of Giebar - were some of your family from Strawberry / Marysville, Washington Co, KS? Gieber (which they pronouced Gh (like ghost) - bar, family settled there. If so, I have a Tiekig connection for you.
I also have a blog (primitive & unorganized it may be, but it's out there none the less), http://tieking.wordpress.com
There is a letter from Aunt Sister that you both may find interesting.
