Hello Sheila,

I am so new at this stuff. I hope that you can help me. Something in a message that you wrote caught my eye. I am not sure how much of is correct. If you can help at all that would be wonderful.

My GGrandfather Glenn A. Anderson was married to Pearl (Nee) Limerick and her parents were George A. and Leoda Limerick. My GGrandmother Pearl was born in IL and her father as well as I know, but her mother Leoda was born in KY I think. I am trying to confirm George's parents so that I can continue to go back. My GGrandfather Glenn told me that Pearl's family at some point came from Limerick, Ireland.

Thanks so much!
Colleen Johnson
Does anyone connect up to or have come across information on a Miles Limerick b. abt. 1847 in Brooklyn NY or other Limericks in the NY area?

Miles married Eleonora (Nora) Frost (b. abt. 1850) and they had six children:

Mary (Maria) b. abt. 1867 m. Hermann Ricker
Thomas Joseph b. abt. 1869 m. Margaret Gleason
John (Jack) b. abt. 1871 m. Maud Fallon?
Eleonora b. abt. 1878 m. Eugene Blank
Johanna b. abt. 1879 m. Louis Edward Miller
Charles Augustus b. abt. 1883 m. Charlotte Elizabeth Newell

The name Thomas also appears in the next three generations down, so as with many of you, Thomas seems to be a common Limerick name.

Any help would be appreciated.
Re: Need Help with your Tree or any Limerick

It is very kind of you to offer to help us Limerick researchers! Thank you.

My brick wall is this: In 1850 there is a family in Frederick County, VA headed by Eliza Limerick, age 36, born in Virginia. Prior to 1850 there were no Limricks there that I can find. She had the following children: Ellen 17, Margaret 15, Lucy 13 (my great grandmother), Catherine 11, Harriet 8, Philip 6, Caroline 5, Matilda 3, Martha 1. By 1860 Ellen is married, Caroline is elsewhere, and there is a John age 26 and Nancy 4 in Eliza's household.

Records that I have found show Eliza to be single. One account says that she was married to a John Ritter who died in 1854 - she was not. However, one son changed his name to Ritter and some of the daughters were referred to as members of the Ritter family, so it is certainly possible that a John Ritter was father to some or all the children.
I have been unable to place Eliza (in some records Mary Eliza) in any family that I know about.

If you have any information in your files that would help me identify (Mary) Eliza Limerick, I would be most grateful.

I have collected information about all her children - a little for some and a lot for others - which I will gladly share if anyone is interested.
Hi - haven't been in contact lately. Now another researcher is trying to convince me that the 1845 marriage of George Limerick & Lettitia Limerick is incorrect. He thinks the bride is an adopted dau of Donahays. My Lettitia was adopted by that family but I haven't found a reason to believe my marriage info is wrong.

Any clues in your data?

Joyce

John Kearney Glin Limerick Ireland

Hello,
I have recently found John (Mc)Kearney's Declaration of Citizenship to the USA. In the document I found that he was born in "Glynn" or Glin, in Civil Parish Kilfergus, in Shanid Barony, in the county of Limerick in 1819. The document states that he migrated to St. John New Brunswick Canada in either the second day of May 1842 or on about the 26th day of June in 1842. He then went to Sidney Maine in the spring of 1843 and lived there until the spring of 1845 and then moved to the Portland Maine area in 1845. He built his house in Yarmouth Maine in 1847. At some time he married Mary Scanlon. I do not know when or where. Her father's name was John Scanlon and both Mary Scanlon and her father were born in Ireland. And once again, I do not know where. Mary was born in 1817.

I am wondering if anyone has any information about Mary Scanlon and:
1. Daniel Kearney in Killeanymore townland in Kilfergus.
2. John Kearney in Ballydonohoe townland in Kilfergus too.

They are both listed in the Griffiths valuation from faileromhat.com. I am wondering if they are brothers, uncles or possibly even a father.

Thanks in advance! Liz Dow
Glen townland in Clanwilliam Barony, in Cahernarry Civil Parish, in PLU Limerick in County Limerick.
3. Glen in Pallasgreen Parish in the Dioces of Cashel & Emly.
4. Glen in Donaghmore-Knockea Parish in Limerick Dioces.
5. Glin Town and Glin Demesne in Kilfergus Civil Parish in Limerick Diocese both in Shanid Barony in Glin PLU.

My problem is I do not know if "Glynn" refers to Glen or Glin. Any opinion would be welcomed!
Thanks! Liz Dow
Limerick family in Mississippi

My grandmother was Annette Limerick, youngest daughter of John Aldridge Limerick(1833-1908) of Rodney, Mississippi. His father was Thomas Limerick, who immigrated from Colerain, Ireland, with two brothers, Oliver and George, in the early 1800s. Thomas lived in Tuscumbia, Alabama, in the 1820s and 30s and was in New Orleans in the 1840s. I have information about my direct line but nothing on descendants of Thomas's brothers and very little on the eight siblings of John A. I am searching for a link to other Limericks and will be glad to share what I have. (John Limerick was active in the Presbyterian Church.) jimbowen@flash.net

It is so great to hear from you. At just flew into Houston to visit Laure (Mercer) and Bob Leighton. They are my son's grandparents. and Laure sends all of her love. My little one turned 2 last June and is Laure's only grandchild and Bill's only great grandchild. His name is Aaron Patrick Leighton. As for the family tree I really do not have much on Mercer's and nothing on the Limerick. Any all and all info you can supply would be so appreciated. Thank you so much.
Jesica Laure and Aaron

I am related to the Limerick side. My husbands grandmother was Maude Elizabeth Limerick.
I finally have linked up to the Limericks in VA. back to 1790. James Limerick and Rachel Stone > William Limerick and Louisa Odor > Charles O. Limerick and Elizabeth Bowman > Charles Thomas Limerick 1st marriage Maggie B. Menefee and 2nd, Jennie Owen Smith > Maude Elizabeth Limerick + Robert Charles Proffitt = my husband's mother Betty Proffitt.

I believe all of the Limericks in Kentucky must have been related some how - just finding that connection that is the problem. If you think any of the records I have gathered will help, let me know and I can e-mail you what I have. I would be happy to look at what you have and see if any of those names have come up in my files.
chsemdwn@aol.com
Hello,
I am desperately searching for my husbands family tree. The last name is currently spelled LEMRICK, however, I have found different variation of this spelling. I am curious to know if your family records hold any of the different spellings. The farthest back I have gotten is Henry V. Lemrerick (spelled differently on cencus sheet) We can't tell if it is Lemerick or Limerick. Henry was born May of 1853, his wifes name is Mary, they had 4 children, Edward, Harley, Minda Pearl and Floyd. I am hoping you can help me with this search.
Thank you Sharon Lemrick
lemricks@crpud.net.

I have been trying to correctly identify the KY and OH Limericks. I have not found any family for LUES R LIMERICK.
Unless you know for sure who this person is, I think it would be worth it to order the death record. LUES might be a typo for Lewis or Louis. Do you know who the father or mother of Lewis Limerick was? I hope the death certificate tells all.
Please let me know what you find.
Re: Thomas K Limerick & Thomas Limerick - How related?

Among photos and documents that my great aunt had saved were a photo of J A Limerick of Baltimore and a Memorial Booklet for Frederick Buck Limerick, pastor of Ridley Park Presbyterian Church.

The 1910 census for Baltimore shows a J Arthur Limerick, age 39, born in Pennsylvania.

The obituary of F B Limerick from Sketches of the Ministers says that he was the son of John Hunter and Jennie (Banford) Limerick, and was born in Philadelphia.

1870 census for Philadelphia shows Thos. K. Limerick, born in Ireland, with a son John, age 12. Living in the household is Frederick Buck, a physician. In 1880 Thomas K Limerick and wife Maria have a 9-year-old son Arthur. Fred Buck is still in the household.

I am trying to find out how this Limerick family is related to my Limerick family: Thomas Limerick, born 10 Feb. 1797 in Northern Ireland, died 27 March 1848 in Claiborne Co., Mississippi, son of George Limerick and Mary Hamilton. Thomas was in the US before 1820 when he was elected mayor of Tuscumbia, AL. His 3 brothers, Oliver with wife Ann and daughter Mary Jane, William, and George, arrived in the US in 1830. George died in New Orleans in 1843. Oliver and his family lived first in Tennessee, then settled in Saline Co. IL. I have no information on William. Two sisters, Jane and Victoria, and their mother Mary were still in Ireland in 1843.

Any help in linking these two families will be much appreciated!

Stephana, thanks , I think you might have the same one. Sandford is too strange of a name, and the age is close. They supposedly came from Ireland in one of the potato famines. Are you related to the Fristoe? I am not sure if we even have all of his children listed. They have been a very elusive family Julia Limerick was my gt. grandmother.
Thanks , if you have any information, I am willing to exchange what I have.

Rachel Stone. My friend is related from James>William>Hugh>James Ella. In a different line I am stuck on James Ella's mother's line of Oder/Odors. It's possible she is related to William Limerick's wife Louisa through a male cousin, brother, etc., but her mother Martha A Odor was born in MO by census accounts. I haven't found the connection. Can you help?

Looking for link between two Thomas Limerick families

My ancestor is Thomas Limerick, son of George Limerick and Mary Hamilton. Thomas immigrated to the USA from Ireland before 1820, when he was chosen mayor of Tuscumbia, Alabama. He was a commission merchant and moved to New Orleans by 1843. In 1830 his three brothers arrived, Oliver with his wife Ann, William, and George. I don't know what happened to William. Oliver and Ann had children born in Tennessee and Alabama and were living in Illinois by 1850. George became part owner of a steamboat and died at Thomas's home in New Orleans in 1946 at age 31.

My great-aunt, who lived in Vicksburg, Mississippi, had a photo of J A Limerick of Baltimore, Maryland, and a memorial booklet for Frederick B. Limerick, a Presbyterian minister in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, who died in 1918. I found that Frederick Buck Limerick was the son of John Hunter Limerick, a brother of J. Arthur Limerick, the man in the photograph. They are sons of Thomas K. Limerick and his wife Maria H. who lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The 1870 census gives Thomas's age as 40 and his occupation as bookkeeper, and the 1880 census says he was 53 and a clerk in an office. His children were John Hunter, Dudley, Margaret C., Julia H., J. Arthur, Maria L., and Burtis H. His wife and children were all born in Pennsylvania and the oldest child was 12 in 1870. Thomas K. served in the Civil War in the Pennsylvania Cavalry, and Maria applied for a widow's pension based on his service. He may be the Thomas Limerick, age 24, who arrived in New York from Ireland on March 8, 1853.

I believe that these two families are related, but the link must be in Ireland. Any information about either family will be appreciated.
Contact me at annette.bowen@gmail.com

Annette Bowen

The Canadian ones I know nothing about but I have a lot of info on Alexander & Robert. Alex and wife died in NYC but Robert migrated to Ohio & then IL. He married the dau of Alexander. I hope we can "connect." Robert's dates are c1801-1873. Born in Ballykelly, Ireland. I look forward to hearing from you and will be happy to share via postal service.
Joyce

I am looking for my 3rd great grandmother, Sarah Limerick (b. 1838). She married Hansford Dudley (b. 1843, TN). She was the daughter of Irish immigrants, Oliver and Ann (Boilkyle) Limerick. Sarah had siblings named Thomas, George, and Elizabeth. Any help would be appreeciated.

Jeremy Carter
Searching for parents of Mary Eliza Limerick, b about 1814 in Virginia. Appears in the 1850 Census of Frederick County, Virginia with a large family. According to all records I have found she was never married. No Limericks in Frederick County prior to 1850. Where did she come from? Who was her family.
