My great-grandmother Mary E. Dukes (or Duke) (b. abt 1873) was adopted by a Henry W. Lincoln (b. 1848, Ohio)and his wife Mary E. Hoffman (b. abt 1856) sometime during the 1870s. Her adopted sister was Luvinna D. Lincoln (b. abt 1878) who went on to marry a man with the last name of Pingle.

Henry W. is the son of John S. Lincoln (b. 1816, Virginia) and Elizabeth (Lincoln) (b. 1832, Indiana). We think there might be a link to the Lincolns of Rockingham County.

Mary Dukes is called Mary Lincoln in the 1880 census. We think she may be the daughter of Henry's sister, but we're not positive.

Any information that could help make some links would be greatly appreciated.
