I have visited Desire's grave in Mayville Cemetery in Chautauqua Co. NY. I took a number of photo's of Desire's headstone and next to her is her daughter Debby Wallis and Debby's husband Elisha, as well as any Lincoln's in the entire cemetery. I have many headstone photo's.

I have been searching for a very long time to find Desire's parents but to no avail. Do you have any further info?

Helen

My Meinweisers came from Bavaria, as George Meinweiser stated on the 1860 Census for Darien, Genesee Co., NY census and from direct descendents still residing in Darien, NY.
George married Barbara Palmer and they had 8 children: Frances b. abt 1838, George Jr. b. Jan 1850, Mary b. abt 1851, Katharina b. Nov 1851, Jacob b. abt 1854, Barbara b. June 1857, Andrew b. 6 Apr 1859, and Joseph b. abt 1862.
My paternal great grandfather was Andrew Meinweiser and I have extensive information on him and his descendents. His other brothers and sisters I have somewhat limited info and on Joseph I have nothing further. It is possible that Joseph moved to Pittsburgh, married and had a sons named Joseph and Louis, but that is pure speculation. For most of the Meinweisers I just mentioned I know the place of their burial, but Joseph I have nothing further.
As far as the name spelling I was told by George's direct descendents that due to their accents Census takers usually spelled their names phonetically, so anything is possible. On the 1850 Census Georges' last name was spelled "Meinweser" and in 1860 was spelled "Weizar", nothing would surprise me.
Do you have any idea of the parentage of your Jospeh?
His place of Birth?
Would love to exchange info with you if there is any match.
Helen

Arthur was born in Brisbane Australia, Oct. 09,1925. He was in the Korean war in 1950. I have the military records. Which showed his dads name. I found his dad, Harold in the Australian historical index. He was born 1898. Married to Ellen Read, May 1 1984. Harolds dad was Henry and his mom was Lilly Williams. I can't figure out where to go from here.

Yes, Amasa Lincoln is descended from Thomas Lincoln the miller of Taunton, MA. Amasa was born 1783 in Petersham, MA and his children were born in Athol. His line is Thoomas-1, Thomas-2, Thomas-3, Jonathan-4, Elkanah-5, Enos-6 and Amasa-7.

DNA testing of descendants of Lansing Lincoln, grandson of Jonathan Lincoln (1771-1848) has shown that this line is also descended from Thomas Lincoln the miller. It does not define exactly how, only that they are related. My theory, based on the use of first names, is that Jonathan was a son of Enos. Jonathan was born a little further west than Enos, and the family then proceeded to NY state and out to MI. Can't prove that part of it yet, but the names and locations make it likely.

(did I already post this? If so please disregard. I put it up before I saw your tree and learned where we were related and where the families split up.)

I thought he had two. George Marshall b. Apr 26, 1893 and Chester Abraham b. Sep 29, 1894. I think there was also a divorce?

Dayton's dad was Dorillus Marshall s/o Hester Ann Burnside and John Strother Lincoln. They had four boys, one girl.

Doriullus, Jacob (died as a child in Ohio I believe), George, David, and Charlotte. I descend through David who married Nancy McFarland. Everyone was in Missouri but then moved to Logan County. Later David and Nancy moved back to Missouri. David died from pneumonia while his son was in dentistry school in Nevada. Everyone moved west after that. Daughter Mary Ellen married in Oregon and moved to Spokane. I descend through her.

Nancy died shortly after (within days?) in Oregon where her other daughter lived and the dentist also stayed in Oregon.

I will look at the tree, thank you. I think Hester is either the daughter of John and Martha Burnside, or that the John Burnside I found on Melitus's death certificate was actually Hester's brother. James and Charlotte Burnside seem the most likely candidates for Hester's parents.

Melitus was living with them at age 5 in the 1860 census I believe in Violet, Fairfield Co., OH

I got some information from Celia Florence Lincoln in the rare manuscripts section at the State library in Springfield, IL She had my great grandmother's name in there: Mary Ellen Lincoln Dempsey and finally the mystery was solved.

Got it. Now I see the confusion.

You descend from Thomas the Miller. Myself and the other person who posted yesterday (guys, this has never happened for me on the Lincoln side to bump into such close cousins at one time) descend from Samuel the Weaver.

Our line went to Rockingham Co., VA aka "Virginia" John. He is our shared ancestor with President Abraham Lincoln. John Strother Lincoln was a second cousin to the president.

As you know President Abraham Lincoln's side of the family moved to Kentucky. My side went to Ohio then MO, IL, and that's where I split from the other poster by my direct line moving to MO then to Oregon and Washington states.

The second marriage produced three daughters, Dolores, Catherine and my mother Lillian V. Lincoln. I believe my mother's mother was named Stone a she died in her early thirties.

Hello. How kind of you to offer.

Someone I am exceptionally curious about is Melitus Burnside. He was living with Hester Ann Burnside and John C. Lincoln in one of the census years. I want to say it was 1870 or 1880.

I was in touch with at least one of his descendants but they could not tell me anything new. I have his death certificate and believe I posted the contents on the Internet.

Melitus is important because he may lead to the parents of Hester Ann. It's always nice to meet a cousin and your wife and I share John Strother Lincoln and Hester Ann as our common ancester.

I descend through Mary Ellen Lincoln. She would be Dayton Monroe's aunt but I don't he would have known much about her. Mary Ellen's father and his wife returned to Missouri from Logan County, IL.

I obtained some of my information from research by Dayton's mother that is house in Springfield, IL amongst the rare papers collection? Her research helped me out significantly.

Kind regards.

The lineage follows Peleg's mother Tamar Sprague Lincoln md to Joshua Lincoln.

I have my tree as far back as 1750's and wondering if I can get a connection.

Either that or any help going further back from George Lincoln 1793 Gt Ellingham / Deopham would be great.

Cheers
Sounds a reasonable strategy if you haven't got any genealogical links ! Did this one subject have a documented family tree ? At least we would know which Lincolns don't have relatives in the US.

Is your genealogy chart for the Swanton Morley and Hingham Lincolns online anywhere ? If not, do you have it in gedcom form and would you be prepared to share it? As I have said in another posting my Lincolns only start in Norwich in the mid-1700s.

Regarding DNA - my difficulty would be locating my nearest living relative with the Lincoln name ! He is a 4th cousin once removed now living in Hertfordshire.

Thank you so very much for your offer of help. I have the following Lincoln
information: I will begin with myself and go back as far as I have been
able:

1.	Pamela Jean Booker (b: 1943) -m- Anthony Frederick Sellman (b: 1942)
2.	Violet Lily Humphrey (b: 1920) -m- John Victor Booker (b: 1910)
3.	Victoria Alice Lincoln (b: 1887)-m- Reuben George Humphrey (b: 1892)
4.	John Lincoln (b: 1847) -m- Sarah Ann Wright (b: 1838)
5.	John Lincoln (b: 1819) -m- Jane Clarke (b: 1812)
6.	Jeremiah Lincoln (b: 1771) -m- Mary Patrick (b: 1771)
7.	John Lincoln (b: 1746) -m- Elizabeth Thompson
8.	John Lincoln (b: 1726) -m- Elizabeth Smith (b: 1722)
9.	John Lincoln m- E Sadd or E Gadd (?)

As you can see, the family descent is via my maternal grandmother. It would seem that the early members of the family are from Norfolk (Hingham, Poringland, Fakenham, Swanton Morley) and the latter members were born in Greenwich, and St Lukes, London.

I also have the siblings for Violet Lily, Victoria Alice, John (1819), Jeremiah and John (1746) should you need a note of them.

Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated as the professional researcher used has advised me that various records are missing and they are the ones we require to see whether, if at all, we are part of Abe Lincoln's family tree.

Again, thank you

Pam
I am trying to trace my connection to the Lincoln family from the English side. A professional geneologist says that we are almost certainly part of the Abe Lincoln tree but between 1652 and 1683 there is a gap in the burial register and between 1664 and 1683 in the marriage records in the relevant area. This is the exact point at which we come to a halt. What we have found it Henry Lincolne (Edward's half brother) had sons William, Thomas and Richard. Edward's other half brother also had sons, William, Thomas and Richard. We have also found that there is a gap between 1753 and 1660 in the parish register. As you can guess, we are very confused. Can you offer any assistant or suggestions? Pam

>My ancestor was Peleg Lincoln born 1770 at Hingham, MA. There is a record showing a "Peleg Lincoln" serving in the War of 1812 with an Ensign J. Hall's Detachment, Lieut. Col. E. Foot's Regiment. From July 1 to July 30, 1814. Service at Camden. There appears to be two Peleg Lincolns at this period in time. Our Peleg from Massachusetts and another Peleg from Maine. Can anyone help me know for sure which Peleg this record is referring to.
-----
The Peleg who served in the War of 1812 is not Peleg b.1770, Hingham, Mass.
Reference:
"The genealogical registers in the 'History of Hingham' are generally very thorough in showing military service, and they show none for your Peleg."
---Dale H. Someone posting a tree with documented sources is much more helpful and can be taken more seriously.

I descend through Thomas "The Miller" Lincoln of Taunton, MA. My line is: Thomas, John, John, Josiah, Simeon, Sylvester, John, Helen, Nellie, Helen, Richard, Helen (me).
I am currently trying to find the parents of Sylvester's wife, Desire Briggs born 6 September 1760 in Cheshire, Berkshire Co., MA. I spoke with the town clerk earlier this week and there is no record of her birth or marriage because the records from that time were destroyed by fire.

I wish you luck in your search.

One thing I can tell you is that there are some Rachel Lincolns related to the president, but he had no aunt named Rachel. Two completely different Rachels were each a 4th cousin once removed, another was a 3rd cousin twice removed. Another was a first cousin once removed. This may be the one they mean. I don't have her history, only that she was born c1827 to Thomas Lincoln (1806-1849, not the president's father) and Sarah Weathers (1807-1882) in Harrison county, IN.
If you can tell me your grandparents or great-grandparents names' on the Lincoln side, and any places and dates, chances are good I can tell you whether you are related or not, and also your line of descent.

I run a Lincoln DNA research project, and found that I am not related to the president. Some of my cousins insist we are, despite scientific proof to the contrary.

Re: Thomas the Miller

Well, first, if you are dealing with Thomas the miller, he has been proven not to be related to the president's family. I have led a DNA research project for the past 5 years, and testing of descendants of Thomas the miller and descendants of Samuel the weaver shows no match and a zero chance of a relation. Thomas the miller is NOT the Thomas who was born 28 Dec 1600; that was a mistake, the Thomas born 1600 in Swanton Morley died in 1614 (mistakenly, people think it was his father Thomas who died then). We do not know the English origins of Thomas the miller at this time.

Second, Henry Lincolne had 10 children: Elizabeth, Henry, Richard, Ann, William (born 1644), Maria, Richard (born 1647), Dorothy, Thomas (born 1650) and Jeane.

Edward's other half-brother was named Richard, and Richard's mother's maiden name was Hobbes (unknown first name). I have nothing on his children.

Do you tie in to Thomas the miller? How? If so, you and I are not part of the Swanton Morley Lincolns who are the president's ancestors.

DNA testing shows that none of the different Lincoln families who came to Hingham, MA were related to each other at all (contrary to assumptions that were made with no evidence). I'll be documenting my research in a short book later in the year.
