Am searching for info on DOUGLAS ALEXANDER LIND, b 1867, Leamington, Warwick, England, son of Francis Macan Lind and Jane Portia Lind, nee Barney.

We have Douglas in the 1871 and 1881 England census, being present at death of mother in 1887, and on a 1900 family address list as being in "Qauen Forest nr Sois River, South Africa". After that, we have lost any trace of him.

He fathered a daughter, Florence, with Elizabeth Clarke in London in 1888. There is no record of he and Elizabeth marrying and the daughter went by the Clarke name until her eventual marriage. There is evidence of the Lind family providing support for Florence during her upbringing and into early married life.

Have info and photos of Douglas' siblings but....no Douglas.

LIND / RESARE

I am researching these names: Charlotta LIND b. 1851 Nykroppa, Varmland, Sweden mar. Adres Vilhelm RESARE b. ca. 1850 (mar. 30 Oct 1870). They had 12 children of which some remained in Sweden. They settled in Clackamas County, Oregon. I have more descendant info for those who immigrated with surnames STROMVALL, YOUNG, BERGLUND, KRON, WALSTROM but little on those who didn't. The 1910 census only reflects that Charlotta had 8 children, all still living so need to sort out this discrepancy.

I am also trying to prove/disprove a John LIND in Gresham, OR (1920) to be a brother or cousin to Charlotta and would be quite pleased for anyone to share info they may have to confirm.

Please let me know if these connected names are known to you.

BTW, our family legend also states " supposedly we're related to Jenny Lind the Swedish Nightingale ", but with our singing abilities, I doubt it :-) however, the legend will be noted as just that until proven to be true or false.

This is a very large cemetary, there is a possibility there could be other family members buried here after this time period. If you are interested in them, I can look for them specifically.

Looking to share info on the following man:
George Lind, b. England, possibly Yorkshire, ca. 1750. Came to the American Colonies ca. 1770. (George Lind, Age 20, London, Carver and Gilder, indentured, arrival at Baltimore harbor on the ship "Diana." This information is in "Immigrants from England," Vol 63, pg. 238, published in 1909. It is also in "The Complete Book of Immigrants, 1751-1776," Peter Wilson Coldham, Baltimore: Genealogical Pub. Co., 1993, pg. 206.) He is listed in "Virginians in the Revolution and the War of 1812."

George first lived in Shenandoah, VA. The 1785 Shenandoah Co., VA census shows him living there. Also in the 1790s and early 1800s, George is listed frequently in circuit court records because he served as County Coroner. By 1812, he had moved to Ohio, where he settled on a land grant near Morrow. (Deed Book 15, Warren Co., pg. 93).

He married Mary Unknown ca. 1778, and they had 10 children that I know of. George died 1825.

George's will was proved in Warren Co., OH, in 1826 ("Vital Records of the State of Ohio", Papers Box 34, case #8, Warren Co., OH, 7 Oct. 1826; as well as Will Book "A," pg. 305)

Alfred and Herman Lind, Lead, SD

I hoped to find her parents. Thanks

Obit - Lead Daily Call, Friday, August 12, 1904 - SUDDEN DEATH. A particularly sad case of death occurred this morning, when Mrs. Herman Lind, wife of a Highland blacksmith was found dead, at 9 o'clock by a sister-in-law. Mrs. Lind had been suffering from heart trouble for some time past, but a few days since had sufficiently recovered to be up and around. This morning when her husband left for his work she stated that she had not felt so well in years. The family of Alfred Lind live in the upper portion of the house, and a few minutes before 9 o'clock the above named lady came down stairs and asked if there was anything she could do. Mrs. Lind informed her that she was feeling so well that she would do the work this morning, and started to write a letter. Her sister-in-law then went about her own duties on the upper floor and when she returned in less than fifteen minutes found Mrs. Lind sitting in a chair with her baby on her lap, cold in death. The letter that she had just finished lay sealed and addressed on her desk. Death must have been instantaneous and painless as she had apparently made no move or struggle. Lucille Lind was 22 years of age, and leaves a husband and a 13-day old child. She was born and raised at Calumet, Michigan, and came to the Hills some two years ago to visit her aunt, Mrs. August Wickenburg. She was married July 1, 1903. Her parents reside at Calumet, Michigan, and were today notified of her demise. The funeral arrangements have been deferred until they are heard from.

I am currently searching for information on Charles Lind, born in Sweden in 1841 and died in Chicago (if I have the right guy, which I think I do) in November 1892. He was married to Minnie (b. Sweden 1856-died Chicago 1910), who remarried Charles Hagstrom in 1896. Charles appears in the Chicago Voter Registrations of 1888, 90 and 92 and also in the 1880 US Census as Charles LUND. He had 2 kids: Gustave Charles Lind (b. 1872, my great grandfather), and Victor E. Lind (b. 1877). This, unfortunately, is all I know on Charles. If anything rings a bell please email me!

Thanks!

Chris Angelica

Ship manifest says she was going to her sister's home (given as Sofia Topia) in Mount Clemens, Michigan. She married John F. Toppi who later died in 1945. I think that they had a son named John. Saimi later married a man with the surname Lind. I don't know his first name. At some point she moved to Florida. I'm not sure if it was before or after her marriage. She lived in the Miami, Fort Worth, Lantana area. She died in Palm Beach, Florida in April of 1982. I would like to know her husband's first name, when they got married and if they had any children. Saimi was my grandmother's sister.

Change from Lindsky (or -ski) to Lind

Hello...am having a very difficult time tracing the family roots. Family lore has it that my gr-grandfather was from Findland, named Viktor (or Victor) Lindsky (or Lindski), who changed his name to Lind "to sound more Irish" at the request of my gr-grandmother Annie (a misunderstanding of her name "Honor" here in the States) Duffy. Was Lindsky (-ski) a Finnish name? I am not finding that on Finnish names websites. Swedish, perhaps, yes. But then again, Finland "belonged" at points to Sweden and Russia. So...any help for this? I posted previously...Viktor sailed from Helskinki at age 11 and worked as a seaman. He lived in "Aunt Annie Cunningham's Boarding House" around Philadelphia. Anybody ever heard of that place? Thanks much!

In the 1910 census the family is made up of John, Hellen (maybe Ellen), Mary and a Janette and Margaret Murray, as well as a Catherine Lind. In 1920 the family is John, Elle?,Cellia, and Margaret Murray. Anyone with any connections?

LIND b. 1750 England, d. 1825 Warren Co., OH, Revolutionary War vet

I am looking for information on the LIND family line in the American Colonies, Ohio and England. I have learned that my 4th-great-grandfather, George Lind, was probably born in Yorkshire, England in about 1750, and immigrated to the Colonies in about 1766, at the age of 16, (History of Warren Co., OH) as an indentured servant (Immigrants from England, Vol 63.). George joined the Colonial Militia of the Virginia Colony and took part in the Revolutionary War (pension document). After the war, he migrated to Ohio, where he settled with his land bounty in about 1800. He owned land near that of Nathan Harrell, near Morrow. (land and deed records).

George married Mary (unknown) about 1780. They had at least one son, Andrew. George died by 1825 in Warren Co., OH (Will Book entry). His son, Andrew, was born about 1778-80, and died in 1839 in Hamilton County, OH. Andrew married Rachel Bly about 1804, in Shenandoah Valley area of Virginia. Rachel was born May 5, 1782 in Shenandoah, and died in about 1846 in Hamilton County, OH. Her family, Bly or Bley, can be traced back to the mid-1600’s in Alsace.

Andrew Lind and Rachel Bly had nine children:
1805 George Washington
1807 Daughter
1809 Andrew Richard
1811 Charles Taylor
1813 Thomas Newell
1815 Daughter
1817 William Henry Harrison (H.H.)
1820 Daughter
1822 Mary Ann
(it is assumed the girls only identified as "daughter" died young)

I have good documents on the descendants of George and Mary Lind, but would like to learn about their ancestors.
1) Who were George’s parents? Where and when were they born? Where and when did they die? Did George have any brothers or sisters?
2) What was George’s wife, Mary’s, maiden name? When was she born and where? When did she die and where?

I will be happy to share what I have in exchange for this information.
Yesterday, I spoke to a person and realized
for the first time that Lind/Lindes/Landers/Linders/Linns/Lynns

were of Germanic/Swiss origens!!

Does anyone know the family historian of this bunch in
America, please!!

Thank you very much--one branch is connected to
John Cabot!!

Lind's in Westminster, Middlesex East, Ontario @ 1881

I am searching for the Lind Family from Canada. My source is the “1881 Canadian Census/Ontario”. The census includes Ann Lind (widow) and her children – Jeanie (1859), Anne (1861), Jessie (1863), George (1867), John (1867), Mary (1870), Agness (1872), Ada (1874), Margaret (1878), Ella (1878) and Williamina (1879). This family is part of my husband’s line. Williamina married Skiffington Mitchell in the Yukon Terr. then moved to Eureka, California. If any one has information on this family I would appreciate the information as I have run against a brick wall. Thank You!!! R.Sumner

Leonhard and Harriet were my great grand parents. Leonhard was born 13 Jan 1885 and died Feb 1976. I know nothing of Harriet. They lived in RI, and had only daughters, my grandmother Harriet, Leonor, Ruhamah and Virginia. Leonhard was a carpenter, although I don't know if it was hobby or career. He also played the trombone, for a time with "The American Band". Please share any info. Thanks.
