I only know that my Grandfather was Axel Algot Lindberg,(Lived in Swissvale) his sister (or in law) was Hilda Lindberg who was murdered in East Liberty,April 1933. The newspaper articles say her family was from McKeesport,PA. She was buried from there and interned at Mt Vernon Presbyterian Cemetary April 1933. I am having trouble sorting the information from McKeesport as I don't have any other names or dates there. It is one of the puzzles I am working on. Please view my tree for more information. It is good hearing from you, are you from McKeesport?

Hi,

I know nothing further about this George Lindberg -- he's not related to me. I just came across his death certificate as I was researching my Lindberg family and posted the information, hoping it might be useful to someone else. Sounds like this might be your George Lindberg.

Sorry I can't be of further help.

Patt

Axel Algot Lindberg from Swissvale. In newspaper article concerning the murder of Hilda Lindberg in 1933 in East Liberty, Carlson is mentioned as a family name in McKeesport. I haven't been able to verify which.
Lindburg/Lindberg

I have a feeling I'm involved in a wild goose chase, as I do not have much information for anyone to go on.

I am descended from Hans Peter Wikstrom and Anna Stina Johansdoter, of Lulea Sweden. Hans and Anna had (at least) 4 children - 2 boys, 2 girls. The 4 children all, it appears, migrated to the USA in or around the 1880s. Once here in the USA, it seems they all lost contact. At least no one in my family knows anything about any of the other 3 children.

The boys were John and Peter. John, at least, changed his name to Strom upon arrival in the USA, some time around 1880.

One of the girls became a Mrs. E. E. Wooley, who immigrated in about 1886, the other girl became Mrs. John Lindburg.

John settled in Nebraska. Mrs. Wooley, whom I have recently learned was named Adele, also came to Nebraska initially. She eventually moved to Michigan.

There is some indication from an old story that Mrs. Lindburg also settled in Michigan. She may have spent some time in Omaha or may not have. It is likely that the real last name was Lindberg, not BURG. But I can't know for certain.

If any of this information sounds at all familiar to anyone on this board, I'd love to hear from you.

Our records say our John Lindberg came to America in 1882 as a single male, age 22. So I am guessing yours is not mine. There is a John Lindberg found in 1910 in Cambria Co. PA Census who came in "1881" ,married Selma and named two children the same names as our gr parents did (Bertha and Oscar). I am wondering if this is who I am looking for. Thank you for your help.

Carol Marlene Lindberg (Elsing) (Beam) is my mother born 12-31-37. She and her 2 sisters, one older and one younger, were turned over to an orphanage in Minneapolis in the 1940's and subsequently adopted by Joe and Amanda Elsing of Windom, MN. Her birth mother, Marlene Lindberg, died of tuberculosis when she was 4 years old. Her birth father, Justin Everett Lindberg, tried to take care of all of the children for awhile after her death but could not. My mother talked about her brothers, Donnie Lindberg and Earl Lindberg and a sister?? Sonny many tmes so I know she remembered them. Carol passed away on Christmas morning 2006 at my home with all of her children with her. I am the oldest daughter and we are trying to find our missing family.

My "JOHN AUGUST LINDBERG" was born Dec 5 1860 and came to Pennsylvania in 1882 from Stenqvill or Skede, Jonkoping, Sweden. He was the son of JONAS PETTER SVENSON and ULRIKA SVENSDOTTER, both of whom had a father Sven. Thus his birth name would be JOHANNES AUGUST JONASSON. Lindberg is the military alias he picked as they required them to do since were too many men with the same names. So its possible he could also be going by the name JOHN AUGUST JOHNSON, in America. We aren't sure what name he is using in America.

Do you have any more info about your great-grandfather Charles E Lindberg or his parents or siblings? I believe your Charles was the brother to Johanna Maria Lindberg (b. 1853) and Anna Sofia Lindberg (b. 1868). Both sisters were married to my husband's great-grandfather William (Olof) Westlund. According to family stories, Charles and William emigrated together Oct 17, 1879 from Sweden to Boston. My husband's grandmother was born in Principio, Maryland in Cecil County.
Hi,

I am not sure, but could this be your family? They might have changed from Blixt to Lindberg after they came to America, or it might have been Arons last name before he took on the soldier name Blixt (Aron was a soldier in Sweden).

I found the information below on the church records 1881-1890 in Frändefors parish:

Aron Blixt (Soldat), b. 31 December 1851 in Brålanda, Älvsborgs län, Dalsland.
Married 6 February 1885 to Sara Sofia Larsdotter, b. 16 July 1861 in Frändefors, Älvsborgs län, Dalsland.

Children, all born in Frändefors:
Johan Alfrid, b. 28 September 1878
Anna Kristina, b. 8 December 1881
Matilda Josefina, b. 9 March 1883
Maria Wilhelmina, b. 10 March 1883
Emelie Augusta, b. 16 December 1884, d. 29 Jan 1885.
Carl Edvin, b. 12 August 1886
Emelie Augusta, b. 5 June 1888
Anna Lovisa, b. 31 October 1890

The family emigrates emigrated 6/9/1891 from Kalserud Västra, Frändefors, Älvsborgs län, Dalsland to Amerika according to the Emibas CD.
---------------------------------
Arons first wife was called Sara Johansdotter, b. 29 December 1849. She died 22 September 1883. They got married 21 December 1877.
---------------------------------
Good to hear from you. Actually, I had some wonderful success when I went to Sweden last year, when I found (living) 3rd cousins! They had no idea they had any connection with Australia, much less relatives. We became very close and they will be visiting their Australian family hopefully soon. I hope you enjoy your stay in Sweden when you visit your family. They are such friendly people.
