Good to hear from you! Samuel R. Lindley married Mahala Robbins (Robins). She was first married to ?? Adair. From this marriage they only had one child, Martha Ann Adair. Martha is my great grandmother and she married Jacob Silas Haney. I'm trying to find out the name of her father, ?? Adair. I am guessing he died in the Civil War but this is just a guess. According to the 1900 Lafayette Co. MS census, Martha was born in Jan. 1863. Mahala and Samuel married May 6, 1866. My understanding is that they married in the Unity Baptist Church in Itawamba, MS. Now, a Linda Roholt set me straight. Linda found Samuel R. Lindley's service record. I think it is on Ancestry now. I think it has that he married a Mahala Robins but the marriage license has Mahala Adeir. I don't have copies so can't confirm but I KNOW my great grandmother's maiden name was 'Adair'. Mahala was the daughter of John and Rebecca Barton Robins (Robbins)from Walker Co. AL. Samuel is buried in Rowland Cemetery in Tallahatchie MS and I'm guessing Mahala is buried there, too, but she has no headstone. In the 1900 census, Samuel was a 'widower' so she died before that time. Our guess is that he died after 1924, when he applied for a pension. contact me...email@example.com
....I have other proof and marriages that tie the Lindley and Haney families. I would LOVE to have his death cert.
