I am looking for any information on my grandfather Peter Gustav (Olsson) Lindquist. He was born in Sweden Dec. 1st 1879 or 1880. He married Alvina Marie Mennenga and had 8 children. My mother is the fifth of the eight. Her name is Elnore L. (Lindquist) Bartlett. I would really like to know about his brother(s)? Any kind of information would be wonderful. I know my grandfather died in 1945, but I really don't have much more knowledge than that.

Hi thank you for your help. But I do know that the only Lindquists that might of had Homesteads in Sask. Would be Andrew who I just found out married a Selma? , they had a son named Ernest. I do not know the names of the other childern. And then the oldest Lindquist boy John. I do know they both lived around Eyebrow Sask. for awhile. For that is where their mom and my G Grandfather lived. But I would like to find the Lindquists in Sweden. Cynthia

There are homestead records for an Olaf Lindquist, also Ole L., Knut, John Barnett, Sven Eric, Richard E. Peter, Oscar, Hjalmar, John Sven, Anton, and many more. These records are in the same city as me if you want any.
I have newspaper clipping for funeral of Swan Linquist, where it says he was predeceased by 3 brothers, Albert, Robert & Axwl. Survived by a sister-in-law Lily, nephew Rober and a brother Henning of Sweden.

Also a history book write-up on Anton R. Linquist that says he was born in Sweden and came to Wheaton Minn U.S. in 1905, then to Canada in 1909. Doesn't say anything about other family but a Sven Linquist had the homestead before him. He died in 1957.

I believe there is an Anton at the same graveyard as some other Linquists at Assiniboia. I have the history book at home and have some info on that name so will find and share. My Aunts sister married into the Linquist family but it wasn't until 2008 that I knew they were related. One of their daughter's, Dorothy Cojohn from Loma Linda California would have lots of info.

Hi, in my family I have Lindquists. My Great Grandmother Anna was married to a olaf Lindquist and had three children.John, Andrew and Matilda. John was born in Sweden and came over with his parents in 1883. Andrew and Matilda were born in the USA. I understand that Olaf died in Wausa Nebrsaka, but I can not find anything on him. I believe that Matilda was born in the same area. After his death Anna met and married Peter O Ekman. They moved to Minnestoa. They had three more children, Otto, Theodore and Olga Ekman. They came to Canada in 1905-06. I have been trying to find out more about the Lindquist side for awhile. Ido know they all lived around Eyebrow Sask. Then I have no idea. Any help would be very appreciated

My kindergarten and 1st grade teacher at Holmes School, a one-room rural school near Durand, Michigan, was Hazel LINDQUIST. I don't know if LINDQUIST was her maiden or married name. She died at her home in Perry, Shiawassee County, Michigan in 1999 at the age of 96. Does anyone know anything about her and more importantly, does anyone have a picture of her? I am especially interested in a picture taken about 1947-1949, but any will do.

Richard Welch

Hi,

I have an Anton Edvard in my tree but he came over in 1881. Some of his brothers made a few trips back and fourth to and from sweden. I have not been able to trace him. I thought I may have found him in Chicago but can't verify it. He was a shoemaker when he came over here. Was born around 1861 I believe I'd have to look at my tree to verify. Two other brothers of his shoemakers also ended up farmers just outside Philadelphia and a sister I believe ended up in California. Let me know if this rings any bells.

Updating info on this because I apparently posted the original one anonymously!
William Henry Lindquist born ca 1800, occupation Master Pilot with P&O Steamship "Diana" 1827-1836, involved in 1st Burmese War 1823-1826, and United States Vice Consul for Suez 1849-1853. The US connection baffles me, but the family papers held at Hull University confirm the facts.
I think he marries Amelia Cohen born 16/7/1813(age 16)on 7/2/1829, she is underage at time of marriage.
Their daughter Christiana is my g.g.g grandmother

Robert Lindquist -missing twin (also Gustaf Lindquist/Ellen Knapton)

Robert Edward Lindquist was born on 7th September 1903 to Emil Gustav and Ellen Lindquist (Formerly Knapton). Robert claimed to have a twin who was taken into the care of Barnados Childrens Homes at birth. He was later adopted by a banker in Golders Green, London and they later moved to America. I cannot verify any of this information but wondered if anyone had heard of a similar story in their Lindquist family tree research. His birth parents were tailors in Saville Street, London and had no other children.

The attached phto is of Robert Lindquist aged 67.

Thanks again for all the great information. How did you know about the living sons of Ester Elvira Kristina Lindquist (Wallskog). They are most definetely my 2nd cousins. To them I would be there 4th cousin. I am in the process of trying to make contact. Is there anything else you can tell me as you seem to be an expert at finding out information about my Lindqvist's. Want me to contact the Lindquists on Espie Ave in Maynard, MA for you to see if they are any relation to your Lindquist.
Johnny

Interesting, thanks for all the facts. I'm not sure how you do it. Axel was Ester Elvira Kristina's (the one you found living relatives of for me) father and this verifys my suspicion that he visted Christian Lorentz in 1893 for a short time in Philadelphia and I guess that my suspicion that Sohia new Christian Lorentz before she moved is a good possibility as well. I agree that it is strange that the Parents of the boys divorcing at that time is strange. There was a death a year or two before of one of the youngest children then Sven moved to Malmo with another woman and shortly after that 4 of the 6 living children moved to the USA but I have no idea what happened to the rest of them. Axel Fritiof and Carl Svante were the only two that remained in Sverige.
Thanks again,
Johnny
I talked to some of the Wallskogs who are relation through Ester Elvira Kristina and they remember Yngve and possibly Runa and Linnea but no mention of any descendants after that.

Thanks Elisabeth,

I was hoping that those records would contain more information about where they were going or who they were going to see.
Christian Lorentz married 4 years after arriving in the US and I've never known Sophia's maiden name (i think it's gråko). She arrived here one year earlier from Sweden as well. So I'm wondering if they already knew and he chased her over here.
Anton Edvard was Christian Lorentz's brother and nobody knows what happened to him. I think he ended up in Chicago but have not been able to find anything on him.

Thanks for your help,

Johnny

Wow, Thank you, That's her I had her birthday listed as march 22 1856 from a census and that makes sense about the town. I will have to check out the family on GID. Looks like I will have to renew my subscription.
Many Thanks,
Johnny

I'm not sure but I think this may be her. It's only because I remember hearing the name Grako a long time ago and she matches all the criteria but that's all I have to go on. Oh, and I do have a parish name from Christian Lorentz naturalization records but nobodies ever heard of it. It's Errork or Errark possibly even Errorh or Errarh, Sweden

Name: Sophia Gråko
Birth Year: abt 1856
Gender: Kvinna (Female)
Place of Origin: Malmö Skåne Län, Sverige
Destination: New York
Record Date: 12 maj 1881 (12 May 1881)
Port of Departure: Malmö
Database Name: EmiHamn
Occupation/Title: Ogift
Archive Call Number: 1881:2141:258
Principal Person: Gråko Sophia
