Peter Linebarger/Lineberrier heads households in the 1800, 1810, and 1820 Rowan County, NC, censuses. He married Mary Arey in Rowan County on January 8th, 1807. They moved to Tennessee by 1830. The various census records pin his birth to around 1775.

Other Linebargers/Lineberriers appear in Rowan County in this period, including Nicholas (born about 1765) and John (born about 1770). Land deeds of 1788 Guilford County, NC, record Nicholas (residing in Rowan County) as the son of Francis (deceased in 1781) and Jule/Judith (also residing in Rowan County) Linebarger.

Other researchers have reported Francis and Judith as Peter's parents and that would need confirmation by examining Rowan County records of the late 18th century. Judith may have held Peter's interest in the Guilford County land sale until Peter came of legal age.
