Hello, all.

I was searching on Ancestry.com to see if any new records might have been added. I searched on John Lingar (ca 1777-1828) and came up with an interesting find.

In 1793, there is a record for a John Lingar in the Eastern District Court of Virginia around the Norfolk area. It was noted in a book whose notation is as follows:

WINGO, ELIZABETH B., and W. BRUCE WINGO. 1784-1884: 100 Years. Naturalizations and Declarations of Intention, Norfolk Borough/City, Norfolk County (Now Chesapeake), Princess Anne County (Now Virginia Beach), Portsmouth, Eastern District Court, Virginia. Norfolk, VA: WINGO, 5916 Powhatan Avenue, Norfolk 23508, 1987. 109p

I found this in the "Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s" database on Ancestry.com.

I know one of the biggest questions in Lingar research is where did John Lingar come from.

Does anyone have access to either the book noted above or the actual court records in the Norfolk area? Or has someone already researched this and come up with any results?

Thanks,
Michele
