My g-g-grandfather, William Linton (b. Abt 1803) came to Canada from Ireland (no more detail is available) before 1834. At that time he purchased his farm in Hamilton Twp, Northumberland Co, Ontario from the Canada Company. In researching the distribution of the Linton name in Ireland, it has become clear that it is not a common name there and is located in N. Ireland.
