I have a great, great grandmother with the name (at least what it looks like from the handwriting on the picture) "Lissner" No first name, but the picture was taken somewhere in Silesia (now Poland). I can find no other information on this hard-to-find name. Have you found any more info since your posting?

Sabina

Hi Andrew.

I am doing a family tree and I have come to dead ends on almost every branch. My great grandfather on my mother's side was Paul Burghardt,. He married a Lissner according to the old picure that my mother has. That is all I know. I am constantly searching the internet for leads. Maybe I should be looking at England as a possibility for origins. Thanks for your reply.

Sabina

The photo was taken May 13, 1905 and it was their 25th wedding anniversary. The Burghardts were from Hartmannsdorf, Silesia. As I mentioned before, the area is now in Poland. They then moved to the Rhineland, Germany. I Could E-mail you the photo, if you like.

Sabina

Hi Luiz,

I found your message today. I'm very intersting to your ancestor, cause the last of the eight children of my gggranduncle Nikolai Elchone Aronovich Lissner, named Hirschfeld and his wife Alexandra Sara Isaakovna, nee Keilmann was Leonhard/Leon Lissner-Hirschfeld, born Nov. 1880 in Riga/Latvia ( a gouvernement of the late russian Empire ), d. ? ). Do you know, if your Leonhard was born in Russia ?

Please contact me, if we have same relativs.

Regards

Robert

address:
Mr.
R.

Hi Robert,
I just read the message about the origins of the
Lissner family and more particulary about Leonhard
Lissner.
I don't think that the person you refered about is my
grandpa. My Grandfather was born at Berlin around
1912, his father's name is Ismar Lissner and I know
that he had 2 brothers, Arno Lissner that went to
Israel and Betty Lissner that went to Manchester (UK)
before the 2nd great war. My grandfather (Leonhard
Lissner) came to Brazil at the same time (1933 I
think) and since then we lost contact with the other
part of the family.
So, that's why I don't think that we are talking about
the same Leonhard Lissner, the information don't match
with yours.
If you want to know anything else, please write to me.

Shabat shalom,

Luiz
Hello Luiz,

into my great family tree I can find also relativs named Lissner named Hirschfeld, also Lissner-Hirschfeld. Some of them tooked only the name LKissner and went from Riga/Latvia to Germany ( Dr. Robert Lissner with his family in 1919, cause of the bloody russian revolution. Also Roberts brother Dipl. Chem. Victor Lissner went ca. 1920 to Berlin ). The last of the brother's was Leonhard/Leon Lissner, who was born in Nov. 1880 in Riga/Latvia. It can be, that he was your grandpa ? Do you know, if the ancestors of your grandpas family were jewish and came from Riga/Latvia ?

Please contact me by email: Rob.Dup.@gmx.de ore over post

address:

Mr.
Robert Dupuis
Weichselstraße 52
D-12045 Berlin
Germany
