It is good to hear from you.
My mother said she always figured someone in the family was strung up for horse theft, so she will definately be interested in Captain Anstead.
The one thing I've noticed about the Ansteads is a deep, abiding desire to leave home and never contact the family again. Consider the following:
1. A teen went out to shoot a wild turkey and was never seen again.
2. A young Anstead was walking beside a river, saw a barge, jumped on it, and was never seen again.
3. Pat Anstead (Ed's brother) left home while in his late teens and didn't contact the family again until the early '60's.
4. My uncle Truman left home when he got out of the army in 1918, moved to New Jersey, and never saw his family again. Although he did telephone my mother once.
There are probably many others, but you get the idea. It sure makes tracing the family difficult.
Your cousin,
Fred
