Mary "Polly" Russell ,1780-1857, is the eldest child of Major William Russell,1761-1825.

Martin and Mary married 20 May 1800 in Barren County, KY. They left KY in 1810 and settled on the Boling Fork River in Franklin County, TN, near Mary's father, William Russell. Major William Russell and other family members migrated to Alabama and settled east of what is now Russellville, Franklin County, AL. Martin remained in TN, along with George Russell, Maj Wm Russell's son. After Martin's death and the death of George Russell's wife, Mary and her brother George also moved with their children to AL. Martin and Mary had four children: William Little (m Perminta), Edmond Little (m Elizabeth J.), Claiborne Little (m Sarah Burton), and Ann Little (m John B. Guthrie).

Martin is said to have served in the War of 1812 in Capt Hickman's Company, Kentucky Infantry from 1 Jul 1814 to 31 Oct 1814.

I am a descendent of William and Perminta through a son Robert Edmond Little who married Rachel Matilda Blackwell.
