I have a Dr. Michael Little born in Ontario, married to Helen Gibson. I know of one of Helen's sisters name was Jane. Dr. Michael Little practiced in Pilot Mound, Manitoba and that is where he died. Bertram is also a family name, so I was wondering if maybe we are connected somehow? My Michael is one of thirteen children of William Little of Scotland and Jane Scott of England.
Cheers,
Dawn

In the 1900 Marrowbone, Pike County census, her husband is listed as J.P. Caudle and Delphia with child Mildred. There is a large family of Littles in that area. Reuben Little was in the Civil War and he had lots of children by two wives.

Almira Little of Shoreham, Vermont

Almira Little was born in 1796 in Vermont OR New York. She married David Buttolph in 1817, then moved to Middlebury, VT. Who were her parents? Two of her sons moved to Illinois in the mid 1800's: William Wallace Buttolph and Salmon Bissell Buttolph. This is a mystery that my great grand mother researched this question in the 1920's and 30's. Almira Little is in the Middlebury records (I have seen it with my own eyes) as married to David Buttolph. Her the "son who stayed home" is John Little Buttolph. It is commonly believed Almira's father was John Little. Found another source naming Erastus Little. Any ideas?

P.P.Gunn and his descendants

I am working on my wife's MORRIS family and have come across something of a mystery.
Mary Elizabeth Morris (1853-1926) married Masadonia D. FOWLER (1846-1926) in about 1872 in Calhoun Co., WV.

They had a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Fowler (1882-??), who married Luther LITTLE (1879-1972). Mary Elizabeth Fowler and Luther Little, in turn, had a daugther, Bertha Viola Little (1912-??), who married Thurl GUNN (or Edward Thurl Gunn) (1914-2002). And there is lies the mystery. Who is Thurl Gunn?

Some sources list him as the son of Peter Poe (P.P.) Gunn (1897-1979) and someone by the name of Flossie (last name unknown). P.P.Gunn was a prominent politician and businessman in Calhoun Co., WV.

Most of the online sources for P.P. Gunn do NOT list Flossie as a wife (or anything else) or Thurl as his son.

Flossie is listed in the 1920 census as the wife of Ray Boggs and a complex household which I think the census taker may have screwed up (see below):

1920 Census listing for Sherman, Calhoun Co., WV (ED 22, p. 8A):

Claria B Pettit, age 46, Head of household, Single, b. WV, Occ. Farmer

Cora M Burrows, age 54, Sister, Wd, b. WV

Gearl Burrows, age 19, daughter, Single, b. WV
(surely the daughter of Cora Burrows and not Caria Pettit)

Earl Burrows, age 19, son, Single, b. WV
(surely the son of Cora Burrows and not Caria Pettit)

Ray Boggs, age 30, son-in-law, Married, b. WV, Occ. Farmer
(Son-in-law of whom: Cora of Claria?)

Flossie Boggs, age 24, daughter, Married, b. WV
(the daughter of Claria Pettit OR Cora Burrows?)

Thurl Gunn, age 4, son, single, b. WV
(probably the son of Flossie Boggs and not Claria, but . . . ..)

Thurl is NOT living with Ray and Flossie Boggs at the time of the 1930 census and I have been unable to identify where he might have been. He would have only been 15.

Thurl Gunn apparently died in Round Rock, Williamson Co., TX in 2002.

Can any one help to identify who the father of Thurl Gunn might be?

Can anyone help to identify the maiden name of his mother, Flossie?

Willing to exchange information.

Bill Muller (muller1938@yahoo.com)
Hi Yvonne,
I do hope that you do not mind me contacting you, but when I was browsing the ancestry notice board, I came across you message.
The information you gave relates to some one that I am researching. John and Caroline Pountney. They also had a son Frederick William Pountney. He was born on the 20th November 1856. The address given then was Ward Street Birmingham.
Frederick William was my grandmothers father. I think that makes John my Grandfather x 4. Frederick William married Emma Rochell on the 19th December 1875. My Grandmother‘s name was Alice Louisa Pountney and she was born in Birmingham on the 17th April 1885.
In the 1881 census John and Caroline were living in Price Street Birmingham. Caroline died there in 1883. (chronic bronchitis)
Your message as given me the first indication that there were other children and I would appreciate any other information that you can let me have.
If you can pass on any other information, my E- Mail address is j.trotman@hotmail.co.uk.
Regards
Joff Trotman.
Relatives of William Wilson Little Sr., b. 13 Nov 1846 in Kentucky, and died, 30 March 1913.

I know that a lot of people have been searching for the parents of William Wilson Little Sr., his siblings and parents and what happened..

My Mother and Aunt, and William Wilson Jr.& his wife Mattie have searched for over a hundred years. With today’s technology at last the entire family has been found. You see, they had a terrible tragedy when William was only 10.

He and his siblings lost both parents within a few months of each other, with a severe outbreak of Typhoid Fever. Not only did they become orphans but a lot of the people they knew also died. How terrifying it must have been to feel helpless to do anything to stop the deaths. I am writing the story down and going to attach it to my ancestral tree on this site. I call it, "Our Family's Fantastic Voyage Through Time", in case you are interested is reading the story.

I am looking for the last name of his first wife Elizabeth.???? His 2nd wife was Hanna Jane Thomas, and the third, as far as I can make out is only Jane Rose, but perhaps there was a name before or after Jane.

Elizabeth was born in c. 1850 in Kentucky. William and Elizabeth married in c. 1867.

In the 1970 Census for Franklin Co. Illinois, they lived with John Dillon & wife Martha, and their children Ruth A, Isaac J, Robert K. and little Jessamine 3mo...

Soon after the 1970 Census, William lost his wife Elizabeth and their child also. Preston, being 16 at that time, must have reached out for some employment and perhaps moved away. But, William never heard from him again, despite searching his entire life and worrying about Preston. William had become a surrogate father and protector of Preston especially after their parents died when he was ten and Preston was only 5. How do you comfort a five year old when so many people are dying all around you?

His children, and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren have continued the search for over 100 years. At last most of the mystery is solved. I know that they are together in Heaven with their parents, but it was important for those of us who remain to find all our ancestors and their families.

If you have any information about any of the family relations, even if you think that I might have already found it, Please write me and share with me what you find. I too will share with you what my Mother and Aunt have found documentation to prove a continuous blood line back to Adam and Eve, on seven different lines.

That is why I have named our tree what I did. I have studied their history and the history of six thousand years of life on this Earth, and there are many, many fantastic stories, and triumphs and heart breaks that our ancestors lived through. But, they didn't give up, or I wouldn't be here.

I hope to hear from someone with some more information that can help us both.

God Bless you in your searching,'
Marilyn aka Kolobtraveler.

Descendants of Willis Mccoy and Ann Roberts of Washington County,Indiana

Were any of you told that one of your ggrandmothers was
Native American or Cherokee like I was? I was given a photo
of her years ago, but without a name or date. I recently
was able to date it to between 1861 & 1865, so I think that
it must be Ann Roberts, wife of Willis. I'm very new to this and would like to thank those of you who haved shared
your trees and look forward to making my own.

Re: Delphia Little of KY

Trying to find and still figure out who Delphia or Delpha Little parents were, she married John P. Caudle/McCoy.
Some say could be Francis Marrion Little or a William Little. If anyone has any ideas please contact me through Ancestry. She was born in May 1881 so she doesn't show up in the 1880 Census, and not again until 1900 Census and then she is married to J.P.McCoy but there was a Francis Marrion and a Hulda living by her and the kids in 1910 but his age could be her brother not father. Does anyone have any ideas about this set of Little?
