I am looking for information on the death of my grandfather, George Washington Littlefield (see below for lineage). I can't find any factual information on the circumstances of his death.

He was born in Chilton, Alabama in 1878 to William Carl and Mary Littlefield and died in 1940 (I don't know the exact dates).

Family stories say that he was shot and killed by his best (I have to use that term lightly!) friend, Mr. Clakely, in a dispute over 'liquor rights' (uhm, bootlegging, I do believe).

George was survived by his wife, Penella and their children Robert, Joyce, Roberta, Peggy, and Mary, and his son by a previous marraige, Burl. Also, if anyone knows Burls mothers information (she and George divorced, I believe, and she was a member of the Sammons family).
