YORK, Maine Â— Eleatha "Lee" Littlefield, 94, formerly of Raydon Road, died Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998 in Sunrise Nursing Nursing Home in Portsmouth, N.H.
Born July 9, 1904 in Laconia, N.H., she was the daughter of Allie and Ethelyn (Dearborn) Beane and was a graduate of Laconia High School. She was a 1925 graduate of Colby College receiving a bachelor of arts degree and received a masterÂ’s degree in education from the University of Maine at Orono.
Mrs. Littlefield had been a high school English teacher and librarian at Wells High School, Rockland High School, Oxford High School and Mechanic Falls High School, retiring at age 70.
After retiring as a teacher, she became the post mistress at the Moody Post Office for three years. Mrs. Littlefield had also been the assistant to the director of volunteers at Portsmouth Hospital and worked as a clerk for the Dixon Family of Cape Neddick.
She was also a tutor and proctor for the York Adult and Community Education into her 90s.
She was a member of the Ogunquit Baptist Church for over sixty years, a York Hospital volunteer, a member of the Phi Mu Sorority at Colby College, a member of the Maine Retired Teachers Association, and the American Association of University Women.
Mrs. Littlefield was also a member of the AARP, past grand master of the Wells Grange, a past great Pocahontas of the Order of Pocahontas and the Order of Rebeccas.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Perkins Littlefield, who died in 1955 and by a daughter, Miriam Colbath; her brother,Castleton Beane; and by a grandson.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. John (Norma) Miller of Ogunquit, and Mrs. Bruce (Linda) Coburn of York. Ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visiting hours. A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Lucas and Eaton Funeral Home, 91 Long Sands Road, York. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 3647, Portland, Maine 04104.
