Nellie Wharton Conrad, 1883-1971

NELLIE CONRAD

Of Chest Springs, died at 7:15 p.m. yesterday, May 18, 1971, in Mercy Hospital, Johnstown, after a brief illness. She was born Dec. 6, 1883, at Chest Springs, a daughter of Charles and Alice (Littlefield) Wharton, and married Charles Conrad, who died in 1956. Surviving are six children, Mrs. Mabel Little of Chest Springs, Mrs. Alice Brimmer of Youngstown, Ohio, Mrs. Olive Gauss of Pittsburgh, Mrs. Virginia Reighard and Mrs. Jeannette York of Altoona and Charles B. of Emmitsburg, Md.; 17 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and a brother, Edgar of Altoona. Mrs. Conrad was a member of St. Monica’s Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society of Chest Springs. Friends will be received in the Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, from 7 to 10 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. tomorrow.Altoona Mirror, May 19, 1971. CONRAD – The funeral of Mrs. Nellie Conrad of Chest Springs will be held Friday with requiem mass at 10 a.m. in St. Monica’s Catholic Church, Chest Springs, by the Rev. I. A. Strittmatter. Interment in the church cemetery. Friends will be received in the Gibbons Funeral Home, Ashville, from 7 to 10 p.m. today and 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday and the rosary recited there at 8:30 p.m. ThursdayAltoona Mirror, May 19, 1971.
