According to research done by MOORE family members, Rebecca LITZY (1834-1910), of Limestone County, Alabama, USA, married Dr. Jerome Egbert MOORE. She probably died in Robertson County, Tennessee, USA.

I am hoping to learn more about Rebecca, any siblings, and her parents. I have not been able to locate them in the 1850 census. But, the 1910 census says that Rebecca's father was born in Germany.

Anyone interested in the whereabouts of Fannie Litzsey, the second born to Henry and Rebecca Litzsey, can find her in the 1930 Arkansas Census under the misspelled name Sitzey. T626-73, ED 15, Page 1B, Line 64.

I apologize for the delay in responding to the message of Sep 2004. The Litzsey message board was established on 14 Mar 2000 with the message "Litzsey Is Not A Common Name". Since then only 13 messages have been posted, most of them being mine resulted in my monitoring of the site to become less frequent.

If you aren't aware the Litzsey clan is holding its family reunion in Atlanta . . .

Little Don,
This is your uncle Rickey in Arkansas. Your father's name got spelled wrong when at that time we were not born in the hospitals but at home through a mid-wife. People would always misspronounce and misspell our last name, so at the time of Don's birth there were lots of mistakes in our birth certificate too.

There are many Litzsey located in the city of Chicago, and we know that we are all related and we also know that are roots start in the Ark area but little else is known about our last name. I've been looking for other Litzsey's, but I've come up short. I'm from Little Rock, Arkansas, and the Litzsey's I know of are from Pine Bluff, Arkansas. I'de really like to get in touch with others because as you've stated Litzsey isn't a common name, so anyone with the name is related to me. My grandfather's name is Hubert Litzsey of Ladd, AR. My original surname is Litzsey. It was accidently changed when my father joined the Air Force in the 60's. From what I know the most of my family resides in the Chicago area and the Little Rock Arkansas area. I am highly interested in the complete history of my family and were exactly the name originates from.
