Hi,
The name is pronounced: Ims. The 'J' is silent. I always like to say, "Yous, Wes and Ims." At least, it gets ones attention. William Iiams [Eyoms or Ijams] is found in Anne arundel Co., Maryland before 1663. This is the date he married Elizabeth Cheyney [Cheney] d/o of Richard Cheyney. To date, no records have been found that shows how or when he arrived. No ship records, nothing. It is believed that his father was Sir Robert I'ans who married Lady Grizel Stewart d/o James Stuart & Elizabeth Stewart.
I have a lot of information on your line also. I have over 61,000 names in my data base for William Iiames and his ancestors & Descendants. Do show that after Delilah died, that David C. McClamroch married Nancy Iiams [Ijames] who was the half-sister of Delilah. Contact me direct if you wish. Guyrossjr@aol.com
