Biological Sketches 1003-1004 Jefferson Township Ohio CHRISTIAN LOBER. minister and farmer: P. O. North Robinson; was born in Wurtemberg, Germany in 1835, the son of Michael and Eve Lober, who were born in the same place, and came to America in 1856. They settled in Wood County where the father yet lives. The mother died in 1877. Christian Lober came to America two years previous to his parents; he also settled in Wood County, where he resided until 1863, at which time he came to Crawford County. He was educated in Germany, and is a man of fine culture and education. He is a minister in the German Reformed Church, and has two charges in Crawford County, the Windfall Church, in Jefferson Township, and the German settlement church, in Vernon Township, both of which are in a flourishing condition under his ministration. Mr. Lober came to the farm that he now resides on in 1873. He owns a fine farm of 80 acres and is a successful farmer as well as a successful minister. He began business for himself when he came to America entirely upon his own responsibilities, and by close attention to business and strict honesty and integrity, has been prospered in all his undertakings. Mr. Lober has been married twice. His first marriage was to Barbara Maurer; she also was born in Germany, and came to America the same year her husband did, but was married in America. They were married in 1857, and had one son, Henry. The mother of this child died in 1864. Mr. Lober remained a widower until 1866, when he was again married. This time the lady of his choice was Mary B. Beach, who was born in Crawford County. Her parents were natives of Hesse- Darmstadt, Germany, and came to America and to Crawford County at an early day. This union was not blessed with children.

I actually found your name in my database. Apparently someone in your family contacted my mother in law years ago and sent a photo of the four Lobre children when they were quite elderly. I have a xerox copy of the photo and it's information. Emil is very dapper!

No, I'm afraid that all of my Lobres were in New Orleans, as far back as the 1830's. I bet that yours are related, if we go back far enough, though. It doesn't seem to be a very common name. I'll keep working at it and let you know if I find anything!

I've been working on the family line for Pierre Louis Lobre and his wife Mary Anastasie Adelaide Mathon who emigrated from France to Port Washington, WIsconsin in 1857.
Pierre and Mary had four children.
Mary (b. France) married Gustav Winter
Adrian (Andrew) was born in France and married Rose Anna Weingartner.
Emil was born in Port Washington and married Lucinda Thornberg. She died in Nebraska and he moved on to California with two sons.
Julia, born in Port Washington, married Peter Bonesho.
Is this your Lobre line? My husban's grandmother was a daughter of Adrian Lobre.

My Great-Uncle Tom was your grandfather!. Uncle Tom had a drugstore that my mother's brother once owned. My Dad grew to look so much like Uncle Tom. I remember Uncle Tom and Uncle Bill and Aunt Madge. My grandfather was George Lober McMillin, Sr. Dad was George Lober McMillin, Jr. My brother is George Thomas McMillin, who is also a pharmacist. We may have corresponded before and this suggestion may be redundant, but here goes anyway. You should contact Carl Loeber of the Loeber Association here in the USA. He is in San Jose CA. You can look him up - it may be easier than me driving into the mess that I have.

If you can not find him with ease just contact me again.

He heads up the organization that mostly does Loebers of the 1850 to 1880 era. And that is because most of them came to the USA then. My Loeber father came to the USA in 1935. And know one in his immediate German family came. So I am not confident that I share any immediate connection with you. But I have a great deal on all the USA Loebers.
