Otto, Oscar Loeffler or Loffler

I am seeking information on Otto Loeffler, b. 27 Feb 1902 in Prerov, Moravia, Czechoslovakia to Oscar Loeffler and Adele. Married about 1940 or 1941 to Sidonia Hatchek or Hasek or Hacek in Prague. She was b. 28 Feb 1917 in Brno, Czechoslovakia. The couple fled to Bolivia and was there by 1942 where son Peter was born. Supposedly the family that stayed behind was mainly killed, as they were Jewish. Any information or research tips would be appreciated. Sincerely,
Holly Bell

Hello G Rose,
I would be interested in know more details about any of these Loeffler's, e.g. where in Wisconsin they lived, where in Germany, dates, what church they were involved with, burial, etc. The first names don't register with me, but then I haven't searched the family extensively. What do you know about the Strebe name, and any location of origin for that line? We have STREESE connected to our Loeffler's, may not be any relation however, although sometimes names do get changed, etc.

thanks! Pam

Thanks for your response. I think if this is the right Loeffler family, they came over on the ship Memphis out of LaHarve, France on Oct 6, 1854. Gustave was 9 months old at the time (B 1854) and had the sibblings of Aline (B 1850),Maria (B 1851) and my great grandmother Caroline (B 1843). Caroline was born in Hanover, Schoemberg, Germany. She went on to marry in 1869 Frederick Ruff (B 1843)in NYC.

If you feel there is any connection please contact me at thumbscat8@aol.com.
Forgive me my previous post, I keep getting dates mixed up today. I'm not sure if I had the information about Gustav's father, but I think I must in that report. I think I had his name, but not his dates. All of Gustav and Nathalia's surviving sons married Schupp sisters. (They had one son named George that did not survive infancy, they then named their next son George Gustav. Between George, Hugo, and Henry (their children) I think that they have around 60 or so great-grandchildren now. I know Hugo himself had 8 children (he would be my great-grandfather would he still be alive). If I can be of any help, or give you anymore information, let me know. As I said, I have not gotten everything posted that I have on the Wagner side of the family.

Jamie- Yes there is a way we can help each other: Your "Lefler" came over here in the 1800s and mine came here about 1720s and were called Palatines-from the Rhine Valley or Switzerland. Generally, these two families, yours and mine, represent two Lefler groups by date of their immigration. Do they come from the same areas?? Are they related in Germany?? Please check the Lefler Project at familytreedna.com(org?). We need male direct descendent "Leflers" to do the simple "wipe the cheek "test for $99 and become part of our Lefler project. Yes I am making a pitch for this as it is the only way we are going to find the answers to the above questions for sure.
My Lefler family was in Hunterdon County,NJ, as early as 1720(See Early Germans of NJ). They may have come in through Philly or NYC. After about 1808, our Leflers were in the Finger Lakes, Seneca CO,NY, and down into Bradford CO and Tioga CO,Pa. I would be glad to share more detail! Other early Leflers of these times were in southern Pa-would like dna testing with them as well! There was a large Lefler family in Marion CO,Ohio by about 1850. They came from Freiburg, Germany. They may really be related to my 1720 Leflers! Only dna testing can tell about these things. Bob Lefler

Sorry, if you didn't know the dates, Gustav was born in 1853, in Germany, and died in 1957. Nathalia was born in 1859, and died in 1951 in Missouri. I believe that their son Hugo died in the 1950's as well (the reporting party my grandfather), and Marie Christine, Hugo's wife, died in 1980 (I'll have to look it up) near Kansas City, she lived with her daughter at that time.

I have gotten a ton of information from my mother, that was written by someone in the Wagner family, all the way back to, I believe, before Gustav came into this country, and it traces the Wagner's back to Germany as well. I think it may also include information on my generation of decendants. I haven't quite gotten all of it entered in to the system yet.
