Not much on the Sicilian side, unfortunately, though I do have the family extensively traced in Wisconsin.

Giuseppe LoGalbo was born in Bagheria in 1879 (parents unknown). He married Frances Crupi (daughter of Paul Crupi and Francesca Fricano). They had a son, Frank, on April 3, 1908.

They arrived in America on October 30, 1913 and settled in Madison, Wisconsin before moving on to Milwaukee.

I would love to hear anything you know about the ancestry of either the LaGalbo or Crupi families...

Joseph LaGalbo was an important man in Madison, the Crupis were very influential in Milwaukee. I'm curious to hear more or see any photos that might exist.

Fabulous Carrie and Thank you! I am almost positive Antonino and Antonio, son of Rosario is my great grandfather and I filled out a family tree to post all the kids that I know of down that line. I saw a picture of Salvatore LoGalbo that age wise could have been Rosario's father, only I can't find records of that. What is scary is the eyes and eyebrows in the picture look exactly like me, my father, my brother, and the jaw line and chin look just like Dominick LoGalbo from Bagheria whom Ive connected with and have been trying to figure out the relation. Salvatore was married to Domenica Fricano and they had a son by the name of Dominick.

Also, in the Pizza Connection Trial, Domenico LoGalbo of Bagheria was one of the mafia bosses and passed away in 2005 and he was Dominick's second cousin so it would be great to connect us all which appears like we may not be that far away. I have alot of family still in Termini Imerese which is very close to Bagheria.

Cant wait to hear back from you!

Regards,
Stina

Hello!

My name is Stina LoGalbo and my father is Calogero LoGalbo, son of Agostina Selvaggio LoGalbo and Guiseppe LoGalbo. My father had one brother named Antonino and has 3 sisters named Grazia, Antonella & Anna. My great grandfather was Antonino LoGalbo & Grazia (whom I have no info on). My grandfather Guiseppe, had two brothers we know of named Sam and Giovanni LoGalbo and a sister named Anna who after marriage became Anna Sparacino. The family is originally from Bagheria and the Selvaggio family is from Termini Imeres.

I'm trying to figure out how we are all linked together and Carrie, from another post had some very good info. He remembers much of his family in Utica and Chicao and Toronto area after coming to the US. They lived in Brooklyn and many of my aunts & uncles moved back to Italy.

I am wondering if my grandfather was one of the 10 sons of Rosario & Maria.

If anyone has any info that would connect the dots, I would love to hear!

Stina LoGalbo

They always named their first born after the father's father and mother and second born after the mother's parents.
I am not sure where the main thread is at the moment but I will add my little bit. I live in Chicago and am the grand daugher of Maria Logalbo. She is was born there and had 2 sisters and 1 brother. As far as I know, her siblings may have remained there. In 1931, I think, she married my grandfather, Mariano Tomasello. In 1931 she had my aunt Rosa in Bagheria as well as my father, Giuseppe Tomasello, in 1934. She went back there to birth her children b/c her mom was still there as well as many, many relatives. However, my grandparents lived in San Nicola l'Arena, a few minutes from Bagheria. She traveled back and forth from Italy to Chicago since both my aunt and father, now deceased, moved here and married here. My grandmother passed away in 1974.

Francesca Lo Galbo from 1600s

Hello,

I have a Francesca Lo Galbo born approx 1670, died bef 1778. She married Sebastiano Natoli, born before 1671, died bef 1750. I believe they lived on the island of Lipari.

I'm interested in learning anything about Francesca or the family. I saw the post from many years ago where someone had found records that pointed towards Spain as the origin for the family name. This would make sense since in the mid 1500s King Charles V of Spain repopulated the island with Spanish settlers after the island was attacked by Barbarossa's fleet.

Hoping to find some more history buffs here who can help me with this name!
-Kristin

I had an uncle Joe LoGalbo. He married my mothers sister whose last name was Crupi also from Bagheria. He passed away before I was born but he had 2 sons that I was close to. They were my cousins, Paul and Frank LoGalbo and both families resided in Milwaukee. Frank owned a restaurant called Chico's in Milwaukee that was famous for it's baby back ribs and Paul was in the vending business. Both are now deceased. My family is going to Palermo , Termini , Bagheria next spring to check out the family tree.I moved to Las vegas in the 90's and lost track of the rest of the family.

Hello Paula,
I'm a late bloomer, and only now became aware of your posting in 2000 about the LoGalbo family history. The then-current results of your research got my interest. With the passage of 4 1/2 years since then, may I ask what you've learned? AND how were you able to find out all that information from centuries ago? With Sicily being at the crossroads of things, I can see that LoGalbo ancestry reaches to other countries. I wonder what changes the LoGalbo name has undergone. I wonder what the LoGalbo population in Sicily might have been in 1900 or 1800. A cousin of mine commissioned someone in Bagheria to do a family tree of my Dad, Emanuel, born in 1901. He discovered names of ancestors that go back six generations to a Giovanni Battista LoGalbo, born in Palermo in 1710 and a brother named Bartolomeo born in Palermo in 1715. Anyone who reads this is welcome to contact me for a copy of this family tree, which incidentally bears the name of the gentleman from Bagheria who did the research.

Carol,

Thank you for your response. Don't know if we are talking about the same Francis Aiello as the Francis I am talking about, well her husbands name was Casimer J. Aiello. This Francis was born 1916, died 2001, and is buried at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove. I found an obit for one Francis Aiello that seemed to fit this one and that's where I picked up the LoGalbo name. Now I'm thinking that perhaps this may be incorrect (unless Casimer went by Frank or something on that order??).

Jane
