Howdy all. I'm a descendant of one of the Missouri/Arkansas Lokey's. My ancestor was Artensie Emeline Lokey. I have come across different spellings on the first name, "Artensee" being one of them. Going off something someone said earlier, it could be of some french variation. Everything my family has always said, Artensie Emeline Lokey was full blooded Cherokee. And it would make sense the french would have had contact with the family at some point. Has anyone else come across anything?
Artensie Emeline Lokey married Benjamin Harvey Edmonson, their daughter Darris Nevada Edmonson married William Henley Heflin, their son (my grandfather) is Clarence Henley Heflin
