I will be travelling to Adelaide in a couple of weeks (I live in Melbourne which is 720kms from Adelaide) and will ask my mother for accurate details of her parents and my father's parents. My father (Gysbertus) passed away in 1997 aged 76 years. His birthdate was 16 May 1920 and he died on 16 August 1997. His parents had 11 children and I will try to get all the names I can, dates, etc. and names of my mother's parents and siblings (she came from a family of 9 children!). There are so many relations I can't believe it!!

I have downloaded immigaration papers from your family and contacted Yustin and you by letter. You can see the Lokhorst tree on internet www.geneaweb.org/glokhorst my wife is Gerritje A.M.T. Lokhorst her father Willem Lokhorst married with Hendrika Gijsberta van Laar. maby ould you send me the supply's from the Australia family so that I can added those cousins from Gerrie if you with a gedcom file than I send you one.
The internet tree is not complete with date's fom living people the law forbid it.

Janet here are the Juffer names I have also. Harmen Dries abt 1757 born, married Hendrikje Harms born abt 1749 married 17 dec 1769. 1 child Dries Harmsen Juffer born 11 nov 1783, Marries 16 oct 1814 to Driesje Egberts Bosch born 26 oct 1782. 4 children to this marriage 1. Marrigje Juffer 3 dec 1818. Egbert Harmen Juffer, 1820, Aaltje Juffer born 4 May 1823 and Matje Juffer born 18 feb 1825. Matje married Rijk Sneller Born 30 sept 1816 . They had 8 children Driesje, Hendrika, Egbert, Wigertje, Dries, Gerritje, Unknow sex, and Andrew Dries. Everyone was born in the Netherlands around the area of Gelderland, Netherlands. Maybe this will help you some. So I think we do fit together with our families. Wish I could go back into Holland with the name. My family name comes through Andrew Dries Sneller, who's mother is Matje Juffer, who's father is Dries Harmsen Juffer, whose father is Hamen Dries Juffer Abt 1757. Let me know if this helps. found
Dirk Juffer B 1853 (Married Hendrikjen Wilderman)
first two known children Geertruda,Wynanda
Dirk Juffer B 1881 (Married Hilligje Groen)
Dirk Juffer B 1915 (Married Helena Vriesema)
Dirk Juffer B 1937

All come from Zwolle District (Steenwyk,Oldebroek, Hattem)
If Dirk goes back, he will do more research.

Matje 18 feb 1825, Marrigje 3 dec 1818, Harmen Dries abt 1757, Egbert Harmen 1820, Dries Harmsen 11 nov 1783, Dirk Juffer Abt 1875. All births are around Gelderlands, Netherlands. Janet the only Juffers I have are Dick 1875, Dries Harmsen 1783, Egbert Harmen 1820, Harmen Dries 1757, Marrigje 1818, and Aaltje 1823. From my findings all were born in the Netherlands, Holland. If these fit your family names let me know. Janet

Gertruda, was my aunt she was born 1907 in Amersfoort Nederlands, her sister is still alive her name is Drenth-Juffer, we think she is in Amsterdam. my grandfather was, Dirk Juffer.

My name is Jenneke Lokhorst. I was born in Maarn, Utrecht in 1950. My father's name was Gijsbertus Lokhorst, he was born (one of 11 children) in Maarsbergen, Utrecht in 1920. My mother's name is Catharina Wilhelmina (maiden name Methors, her mother's name van Campen), born in Ede. I have two sisters, Annemina, born in 1943, Arnolda Gijsbertha, born in 1948, and a brother Teunus Cornelis (known as Kees), born in 1943.
All of the children were born in Maarn. My great grandfather was called Dirk Lokhorst and he owned a farm in Maarsbergen which is still in the family. Any relations out there?

You mentioned the surname 'van Holland'. Is that your great-grandmother Jennie?
That family is found alot in the Netherlands near the city of Ede (Utrecht). Also our family comes from that area.
The Canada connection I got (around 1960)is from Gijsbertus Lokhorst (16 Oct 1933) and Judith Cornelia Janny Tabaksblat (28 Dec 1933). He was a son of Barend Lokhorst (1904) and Johanna Wilhelmina van der Hammen (1909). Barend is a son of Gijsbertus Lokhorst (1870) and Berdina Hendriks (1874). Gijsbertus was a son of Faas Lokhorst (1840) and Gijsberta van der Lee (1846). Faas and Gijsberta were the great-grandparents of my dad.
Some of the first names you mentioned did get an American touch. William is probably Willem. Jennie could be Jannie, Jannigje. Peter might also have been Pieter. Willipe is probably Willemijntje. Pepermella for sure is Petronella or Pieternella.
Hope you can get a few more clues. The family bible might be the answer of finding the right connection.

My great-grandfather's name is written as William on his tombstone. He came to the U.S. at the age of 5, which would be in 1900. His parents names were Peter and Jennie (Juffer) Lokhorst. William had two brothers Peter and John and three sisiters, Gertie, Willipe and Pepermella. My Uncle claims we have family ties in Canada. I will try and get ahold of him and see if he remembers names. Also he and I both remember a Dutch Bible and are trying to find it. Do'nt know for sure if it is from the Lokhorst side or the Van Holland side.

Are you sure his first name was William and not Willem? That is more a commom Dutch name.
Got alot information about the Lokhorst families in the Netherlands. Know one family who emigrated to the States (from Winterswijk but they came from Nunspeet). Another family, more related to my research moved to Canada in the past. Give me a little bit more information and there is a big chance I can help you. Do you know your great-grandma's surname.
