Longstaff
Hi
I wondered if anyone could send me any information on George Longstaff born 1900 son of George Longstaff and Catherine O'Hara. George was born in Hartlepool and at the age of 1 was a lodger in Rotherham. I was led to believe that his mother died in childbirth when George was born but I think I found her as Kate Longstaff in the 1901 census. As Catherine was born in Stockton and the person she was lodging with was from Hartlepool but I could not find her in the 1911 census. George was eventually reunited with his father in the 1911 census in Nottingham but his mother remains a mystery. They were married 10 years before they had George so he believed But it appears strange that he was a lodge more or less after he was born. Another coincidence is that there was another George Longstaff born 1894 aged 7 as a lodger in Rotherham born in Hartlepool and with no family like my grandfather. I don't think there is a link to these two George's that live at separate addresses in Rotherham. I was just wondering how these children from Hartlepool became lodgers in Rotherham and like my grandfather was reunited with his father. To have two children with the same names and born and finish up in the same place is an unusual coincidence or is it not! Any help would be appreciated. I keep wondering if these two are cousins but cannot link them so far. Thank you for reading my email and any help would be greatly appreciated.
