I have been doing this Longwell research off and on now since 1976 when I was stationed near Washington D.C. and had access to the archives and many other reources.
I have some notes from the War of 1812 pension file ID# W.O. 35584 of Robert or Thomas Longwell. Pvt in Captain Absolom Martins Co. 27th U.S. Infantry. Enlisted
July 16, 1813 Marietta, Ohio. Discharged July 15, 1814 Detriot, Michigan.
Robert stated he was 57 years old in 1850. (Not 50 as stated on the Census). He married Martha Ferrell daughter of James S. Ferrel on June 1, 1823. I believe Tyler County, Virginia/West Virginia.
Martha applied for his pension ID# W.C. 23333. Listed Roberts death as November 4, 1852. This gave Martha's age in 1854 as 47. Consistent with the 1860 census.
On the surface at the time the few notes I took from the pension data did not seem to be enough to be certain either way this was the Robert Longwell I was looking for.

Absolom Martin is the nephew of Absolom Martin, Robert's Captain from the War of 1812.
Abolom's wife Jane, is Jane Longwell. (Source LDS Family Search files). POssible that Jane and Thomas Longwell may be the sister and brother to Robert.

Possibly Roberts father?
Does any Longwell researcher have some of this info?
Does anyone know the source for Elizabeth Kenney being Roberts wife?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
