Idaho Press-Tribune, April 19, 2005

James M. LONGWILL

James (Jim) LONGWILL, 86, of Caldwell, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 14, 2005, in the presence of family and friends.

Jim was born on June 30, 1918, in Texas County, Okla., to Harry and Alice LONGWILL. He was the third oldest of 12 children and was largely responsible in helping the family relocate to Idaho in the 1937. He was honorably discharged from the Army Air Force in 1946.

Jim was an extremely hard worker and was on one of the first crews to work on the Alaskan Highway. Operating heavy equipment was his forte. He worked on dams, built roads and had his own land-leveling business in the Boise Valley.

His immediate family consisted of his wife, Alma Lee (PERKINS), and their daughters, Darlyne Rae and Lynda Beth.

Jim was a sincere, humble man, a true friend. His beautiful smile brightened the entire room. He was fun-loving whether hunting or playing cribbage, and his joke-telling was unparalleled.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings; wife, Alma; and granddaughter, Penny WHITAKER.

Surviving him are his daughters, Darlyne (Mark) ALEKSICH of Marsing and Lynda PRICE of Caldwell; three grandsons, Lance and Kevin PRICE and Steve WHITAKER, five great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Amy FULCHER, Pearl ROSS and brothers Arch, John, Warren and Alden.

Memorial graveside services will be held at Canyon Hill Cemetery at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, followed by a gathering at Orphan Annie's restaurant in Caldwell.

Donations may be made to a charity of choice. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Cheryl and the staff at Cheryl's Place assisted living facility.
