James Virgle Looney

James Virgle Looney, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully at Houston Hospice Saturday, January 22, 2011 after a long battle with kidney disease. James was born April 2, 1923 to James V. and Mollie Looney in Ravenden Springs, AK (AR?).
He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Hazel Lee; his son, Michael Looney; sister, Helen Jones of TN; brother, J.P. (Bud) Looney and wife Elizabeth of New Braunfels, TX; nieces, Angela Corbell, Karan Brawner, and Lisa Motley and their families; Janne Schafer and their families; nephews, Tom Wright of Nashville, TN; and Jon Wright and his family, also of Nashville, TN.
Jim worked in the oil industry his entire career until his retirement in early 1990. He supervised seismic crews in many areas of the south and northwest before making his home in Houston. He spent much of his retirement years at his beloved tree farm in Crockett, TX.
A Memorial Service to honor Jim's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 29, 2011 at ChristChurch Presbyterian, 5001 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire, TX 77401. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Houston Hospice, or ChristChurch Presbyterian in Bellaire.
