Yes, I have Alonzo and his son Virgil in my book. I have that Alonzo had three wives: Mary Murphy, Hattie Favors, and Ida Gannon. I had assumed Ida was the last, but I could have that wrong. He had no children by Ida, and only one, Virgil, by Hattie. He had two children by Mary, one of whom apparently died young. My book contains a photograph of Alonzo and his wife Mary Murphy and also a photo of Virgil's grandparents Henry Loop and Mary Ann (Fischer) Loop. My great-grandfather, Simon Peter Loop, lived in Kansas and then moved to Oklahoma. My grandmother, Carrie Loop Conley, was born in Kansas. She was a child when her mother died. Simon Peter Loop married again a bit later.

hey vic i had bought your book but a flood in 2003 ruined it i did check the date out with howard county on marriage records and they couldnt find anything. so maybe i wrote the wrong date down della was my great grandmother on my dads side thanks vic plus the picture you have of yourself in the book looks excatly like my uncle ray

Ruth Angeline Beatty was born in 1843 while her parents (Henry Beatty 1809 North East Erie, PA & Lydia (Yale) 1833 Guilford, New York) lived in Chautauqua county New York. They moved to Traer, Tama County, Iowa in 1955. Angeline married Anson Loop on 9/29/1861. Angeline may not be the mother of your Alice (she would have been 66 in 1909). But she maybe the grandmother.

Nelly or Eleanor Sharp were just American translations.

Neeltje became Nelly, short for Eleanor and Scherp became Sharp. Spelling being what it was at the time, there wasn't much of a stretch that Neeltje became Nelly; after all, Hendrick became Henry, and Loop had 3 or 4 spellings, all within the same church records!

Hendrick Loop served in the 16th regiment of Albany,NY infantry under Col. Lewis Van Woert in the Rev. War and was captured at the Battle of Skenesborough in 1780 or 81, part of the battle of Saratoga.

If you can't find Hendrick's wife, her real name is Neeltje Scherp of Schaghticoke,NY. She is listed in the Dutch Reformed Church of that town, born in 1742, as are several of "Henry Ensign's" children, including one set of twins.

It is 500 pages, represents about 25 years of research by myself and scores of other Loop researchers. Alonzo (Lon) Avery LOOP [Henry(9), Joseph Marsh(8), Henry(7), Peter H.(6), Henry(5), Christian(4), Jacob(3), Sebastian(2), Anthony(1)], the first child of Henry LOOP and Mary Ann FISHER was born December 1, 1868, in Green-town, Howard County, Indiana. He married (1) Martha MURPHY. She was born in 1867. He married (2) Hattie FAVORS. He married (3) Ida GANNON, by whom he had no children. He died March 9, 1903, in Wabash County, Indi-ana. The children of Alonzo Avery LOOP and Martha MURPHY were:
1. Infant son, b. and d. in Howard County, Indiana.
2. Walker Henry Blaine LOOP, b. November 5, 1892, in Greentown, Howard County, Indiana, m. Marie FEGESTER. They had children.
a. Keith Henry LOOP, b. August 8, 1915. As a 12 year old boy he was sketched by Norman Rockwell, and the sketch became the cover of a Boy Scout Handbook. He m. (1) Mildred HAWKINS. They divorced and she mar-ried a Mr. CLIFTON. He also remarried. He had children:

ii. Verna Mae LOOP m, Mr. DISNEY.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to link this Christian back to the German Loops or Hesse-Nassau, though I'm pretty sure he belongs there. You will find your Hannah and Nancy Ann below(search for Worline):

CHAPTER 23 -- Christian Loop of Delaware County, Ohio

Christian LOOP [ ]. The ancestry of Christian LOOP of Delaware County, Ohio, has not been determined. He does not appear to be the Christian Lupp named in the will (1763) of Gerlach Lupp's son Christian. He is not a son of Ludwig Lupp, Anthony Lupp, Christian Loop of Columbia County, New York, or of Capt. Peter Loop. There are no other known candidates. According to age information on his tombstone he was born about January 23, 1754. There was a Christian Loop who paid taxes in Augusta Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania, between 1785 and 1793 and who is listed in the 1790 census with two boys under 16 and three females, presumably a wife and two daughters. There are several Roush families also living in Northumberland county at the time. Christian Loop "adopted" two or three Roush children: John, Grace, and possibly a male whose first name is unknown. It is likely that he married a widow with children by her first husband. There is a George Roush and wife Catherine in Westmoreland County in 1781 baptizing a child Hanna. Christian Loop had son George W. Loop, born about 1790 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. As he also had a grandaughter Catherine Roush, this George and Catherine Roush are likely candidates for the parents of Christian's "adopted" children. Between 1798 and 1804, John Roush with his wife Elizabeth, and Martin Roush (probably John's brother) with his wife Elizabeth Dietz, were members of the Reformed Church at Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. There they are sponsors for each other's children. Christian Loop, John Roush and John's wife Elizabeth show up in Delaware County, Ohio, in 1810. Martin Roush stayed in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, until at least 1814 and then moved to Stark County, Ohio, before 1820. In 1821, Christian Loop sold 50 acres near Sunbury, Delaware County, Ohio, to a Stephen Moore, who took a mortgage from Christian's son George Loop to buy the land. Christian Loop left a will dated September 20, 1826 and died three days later. In his will he split up his farm, giving his son John Roush, granddaughter Catherine Roush, and daughter Grace Felkey each 30 acres and giving his son George Loop the remaining 16 acres. Catherine also received a two year old heiffer, and Grace received an iron pot. The children of Christian LOOP, the first three adopted were:

1. John ROUSH, b. May 13, 1775, according to his tombstone. He m. (1) Elizabeth, surname unknown. She was b. about 1775 and d. July 20, 1827. He m. (2) January 22, 1828, Abigail BROCKOVER in Licking County, OH. He d. March 21, 1834. John and Elizabeth are both buried in the Berkshire Town Cemetery, Delaware County, OH. He left a will dated March 18, 1834 in which he mentions wife Abby and "youngest children" James and John. John ROUSH's children, all but the last two by his first first wife Elizabeth, were:
a. Elizabeth ROUSH, b. May 10, 1800, at Mt. Pleasant, Westmoreland, PA.
b. Martin John ROUSH, b. December 31, 1801, in OH, m. Abigail, surname unknown. She was b. December 17, 1810, and d. March 12, 1845. They had five children. He m. (2) May 22, 1845, Aseneth, widow of Mr. BEYMER, in Delaware County, OH. Martin J. ROUSH moved to Helts Township, Vermillion County, IN, by 1850. He m. (3) December 28, 1852, Ester GROVE widow of Mr. BEMOS. They had three children. Martin John ROUSH d. April 22, 1863, and is buried in Marshall, Clark County, IL.
c. Anna ROUSH, m. Mr. COSTWELL.
d. A daughter, m. Mr. FAIRCHILD.
e. Grace ROUSH, b. about 1810, m. John G. MYERS.
f. Margaret ROUSH, b. about 1812, m. Ira J. LEE.
g. Sarah Ambrose ROUSH, b. March 17, 1814, m. James J. ENGLAND.
h. Susan ROUSH, b. about 1816, m. Samuel DIRST.
i. John ROUSH, b. after 1828, mentioned in his father's will, m. Amy JONES.
j. James ROUSH, b. after 1828, mentioned in his father's will. He was blind. He m. Mahala ASHLEY.
2. Grace ROUSH m. Jacob FELKEY.
3. a male ROUSH. This son is inferred by the bequest in Christian's will to granddaughter Catherine ROUSH. It is unlikely that Christian would single out one of John ROUSH's children for a large bequest and leave nothing to the others, so Catherine is probably the child of another "adopted" ROUSH son who died before 1826.
4. George W. LOOP, b. about 1790 in Westmoreland County, PA, m. (1) near 1811, Miss HARPER, m. (2) July 3, 1822, Nancy Ann, surname unknown. He died August 6, 1868 in Darwin, Clark County, IL.

George W. LOOP [Christian(1)] was born about 1790 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, according to census records. He came with his family to Delaware County, Ohio, by 1810. He married near 1811 a woman whose last name was HARPER. She bore three children and died sometime between 1817 and 1822. He married his second wife, Nancy Ann, surname unknown, July 3, 1822, in Delaware County, Ohio. She was born about 1802 in New York State. In 1828, George LOOP and Nancy indentured Elizabeth LETT, a five year old girl to be their servent for 12 years. If she actually did come to work for them she apparently did not live with them, as she is not enumerated with them in the 1830 or 1840 census. Between 1845 and 1850 George Loop moved his family to Edgar County, Illinois. During the Civil War three of his sons and two of his grandsons fought on the Union side. Two sons and one grandson did not return. George Loop died August 6, 1868. In December of that year, his widow Nancy Ann applied for a pension from the government on the grounds that their son Henry, who was killed at Stone River, Tennessee, had been their sole support for over five years prior to enlisting in 1862. She claimed she owned only one bed, one clock and twenty dollars and had no home. The children of George W. LOOP and his first wife, nee HARPER, were:

1. John LOOP, b. May 22, 1811, in Delaware County, OH, m. (1) September 26, 1836, Margaret (Peggy) BEARD, m. (2) May 20, 1852, Rhoda NUCKLES, d. May 27, 1903, in Metcalf, Edgar County, IL.

The children of George W. LOOP and his second wife, Nancy Ann, were:

5. Daniel James LOOP, b. about 1828 in Delaware County, OH, m. three times. One wife's name was Eliza Ann. He died about 1900.
6. Mary Ann LOOP, b. June 28, 1831, in Delaware County, OH, m. (1) about 1851, William PADDOCK, m. (2) May 9, 1872, John SWEITZER. John SWEITZER d. June 5, 1906. She d. June 3, 1914, in Parke County, IN, and both she and her second husband are buried in Betheny Cemetery, near Marshall, Parke County, IN.
7. Horatio LOOP, b. about 1834 in Delaware County, OH, d. after 1850.
8. Sarah J. LOOP, b. about 1836 in Delaware County, OH, m. October 26, 1861, Eli LLOYD. Another source says she m. Mr. GROVE.
9. Moses LOOP, b. about 1838 in Delaware County, OH. He enlisted at Ridge Farm, IL, August 21, 1862, in Company A 79th Infantry. He d. February 25, 1863, at Nashville, TN.
10. Henry LOOP, b. about 1841 in Delaware County, OH. He enlisted at Ridge Farm, IL, August 21, 1862, in Company A 79th Infantry. He d. December 31, 1862, in combat at Stone River, TN.
11. Caleb LOOP, b. about 1845 in Delaware County, OH, m. about 1877, in Kansas, Mary BROWN. He d. after 1924.

John LOOP [George W.(2), Christian(1)] the first child of George W. LOOP and his first wife, was born May 22, 1811, in Delaware County, OH. As a young man he left home with his brother David and settled in Vermillion County, Indiana. There he married Margaret (Peggy) BEARD, September 26, 1836, the same year his brother David married Peggy's sister Mary (Polly) BEARD. She was the daughter of John and Mary BEARD, born in 1818 in Brown County, Ohio. Between 1846 and 1849 John and Peggy moved to Edgar County, Illinois. She died there about 1851. He married his second wife, Rhoda NUCKLES, before 1854. She was born August 28, 1832 in Indiana. According to a great-grandson John Loop could not read or write, but was very smart and could figure things out in his head. Rhoda Loop was very short and very friendly. They build a log barn first and lived in it until they could finish building a log house. John Loop filed for a father's pension in 1890, presumably claiming that his son David had been his family's primary support prior to his death in the war. John Loop died May 27, 1903, in Metcalf, Edgar County, Illinois, of "senile debility." His obituary said he was a retired farmer and the father of 16 children by two wives, and that three children by his first marriage and ten by his second marriage survived him. In his will he left one dollar each to "my oldest son" George Loop (i.e., oldest surviving son), Nancy Beard, Daniel Loop, Mary Ann Colston, and Alexander B. Loop. The rest he left to his wife. He named son William H. Loop as his executor. Rhoda LOOP died January 4, 1918, at Chrisman, Edgar County, Illinois. John and Rhoda are buried at Cherry Point Cemetery, West of Chrisman, Edgar County, Illinois. The children of John LOOP and Margaret (Peggy) BEARD were:

1. David LOOP, b. about 1838 in Vermillion County, IN. During the Civil War he served in Company A, 79th Illinois Infantry. He d. June 6, 1864, of wounds he received in fighting at Kinston, NC, during Sherman's march to the sea.
2. George W. LOOP, b. March 10, 1840, in Vermillion County, IN, m. Louisa Angeline BROWN, October 30, 1870. He d. July 21, 1922, at Englevale, Crawford County, KS.
3. Nancy LOOP, b. about 1844 in Vermillion County, IN, m. March 22, 1867, William W. BAIRD, in Edgar County, IL. She is listed as a heir to father's estate in 1913. However, a Bible belonging to her sister-in-law Louisa LOOP has an inscription, "Nancy Baird died Aug. 12, 1878. Presented to Mrs. Lou Loop by W. W. Baird."
4. Daniel Tucker LOOP, b. September 8, 1845, in Vermillion County, IN, m. February 5, 1866, Melissa JONES, in Edgar County, IL, d. December 14, 1927.
5. Mary Ann LOOP, b. about 1849 in Vermillion County, IN, m. August 8, 1871, O. C. COALSON, in Edgar County, IL. In 1913 she was residing in Danville, Vermilion County, IL.
6. Alexander B. LOOP, b. about 1851 in Edgar County, IL, m. Cynthia S., surname unknown, in Edgar County, IL. He d. after 1913.

The children of John LOOP and Rhoda NUCKLES were:

7. Amanda J. LOOP, b. about 1855 in Edgar County, IL, m. Mr. MANUEL. She was residing in Paris, Edgar County, IL, in 1913.

10. William Henry LOOP, b. about 1859 in Edgar County, IL, m. October 9, 1885, Lucy TABON. She was born in 1857. They had no children. She died in 1929. He d. in 1933 in Chrisman, Edgar County, IL. They are both buried at Woodland Cemetery, Edgar County, IL.
11. James LOOP, b. June 16, 1861, in Chrisman, Edgar County, IL, m. January 2, 1887, Emma STOUT in Chrisman. He d. December 16, 1957, in Chrisman, and is buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, Indianola, IL. They had children:
a. Forest LOOP, b. about 1892. He had a sons:
i. Glenn LOOP who m. Mary S., surname unknown. They had at least four children: R. S. LOOP; Anita LOOP; Gary LOOP; and Susie LOOP who m. Jim PASLEY.

13. Ida Belle LOOP, b. about 1865 in Chrisman, Edgar County, IL, m. January 30, 1884, John POWERS in Edgar County. She was residing in Westfield, Clark County, IL, in 1913.
14. Benjamin Franklin (Frank) LOOP, b. October 11, 1867, in Edgar County, IL, m. Lucy M., surname unknown. She was born September 7, 1872. In 1913 they were residing in Winfield, Cowley County, KS. She d. July 20, 1942. He d. May 12, 1955 in Chrisman, Edgar County, IL. They are both buried there in Woodland Cemetery. They had at least one child:
a. Amel LOOP, d. in 1987. He was a veteran of WWI. He had sons: Charles Amel LOOP and James F. LOOP, who had a son Charles F. LOOP.
15. Rhoda LOOP, b. about 1873 in Chrisman, Edgar County, IL, m. June 25, 1892, Charles MANKIN. She was living near Metcalf, Edgar County, IL, in 1913.
16. Eliot LOOP

David LOOP [George W.(2), Christian(1)] the second child of George W. LOOP and his first wife, was born June 4, 1816, in Delaware County, Ohio. He left home early and headed west with his brother John to Vermillion County, Indiana, where he married Mary (Polly) BEARD on March 29, 1836. She was born January 27, 1812, in Pennsylvania, the daughter of John and Mary BEARD, and sister of Margaret (Peggy) BEARD, David's brother's wife. Their first six children were born in Vermillion County, Indiana. About 1847 they moved farther west to Schuyler County, Illinois, where they were censused in Rushville in 1850. During the Civil War, David served as a private in Company E 7th Cav Regiment 7th US Volunteers. He enlisted at Warsaw, Illinois, September 30, 1861, and was certified medically unfit for service May 29, 1862, for being generally unfit and over age. David LOOP died February 6, 1884, in Camden, Schuyler County, Illinois. His brother John was sent a telegraph in Indiana, but he arrived for the funeral a few hours too late. A memorial service was held for David on May 4. His widow died less than a year later on January 6, 1885, probably at Camden. Both are buried at Huntsville Cemetery, Schuyler County, Illinois. The children of David LOOP and Mary (Polly) BEARD were:

1. Samantha LOOP, b. July 12, 1837, probably in Vermillion County, IN. She was a school teacher. In 1887 she was living with her sister Mary REDDING in Clayton, Norton County, KS. She d. April 30, 1902, in Schuyler County, IL. At the time of her death she was living at the Soldiers' Widows and Daughters Home in Wilmington, IL. She is buried in the Huntsville Cemetery, Huntsville, Schuyler County, IL.
2. George W. LOOP, b. about 1838, in Vermillion County, IN. He served in Co. C. 33rd Reg. Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. By 1870 he moved to Sheridan Township, Cherokee County, KS, where he farmed by himself, living near his brothers John and Josiah, and cousin Alexander. He m. May 11, 1886, Eliza VAN ORMER in Hancock County, IL. He died November 4, 1901, at Quincy, Adams County, IL, and is buried there in Sunset Cemetery.
3. Amanda LOOP, b. January 18, 1840 in Vermillion County, IN, m. (1) July 3, 1859, Samuel WILCOX in Schuyler County IL. He d. during the Civil War on Lookout Mountain, TN, about November, 1863. She m. (2) Nicholas BURMOOD. He was b. May 5, 1827, and d. June 12, 1894. She d. January 26, 1930, and is buried at Huntsville Cemetery, Schuyler County, IL.
4. John H. LOOP, b. October 14, 1842/3, in Vermillion County, IN. During the Civil War he served as a 1st Lieutenant in Company C 59th Regiment of the Illinois Volunteer Infantry. After the war he m. (1) October 23, 1866, Perlina PRICE. She was b. November 9, 1839, in IL. His first wife d. August 22, 1910. He m. (2) Lottie J., surname unknown. John H. LOOP d. March 6, 1921, and is buried at the Huntsville Cemetery, Schuyler County, IL.
5. Josiah D. LOOP, b. July 5, 1844, in Vermillion County, IN. He m. (1) December 25, 1869, Lovina PRICE in Schuyler County IL. She was b. about 1845 in IL. Josiah m. (2) Mary Ellen MILTON. He d. September 3, 1916, and is buried at the Huntsville Cemetery, Schuyler County, IL.
6. Mary LOOP, b. about 1846 in Vermillion County, IN, m. September 9, 1879, Robert REDDING, in Hancock County, IL. She were living in Clayton, Norton County, KS, in 1887.

Benjamin H. LOOP [George W.(2), Christian(1)] the third child of George W. LOOP and his first wife, was born July 7, 1817, in Delaware County, Ohio. He married December 28, 1838, Elizabeth FINLEY, born in 1820. He died December 30, 1867, in Berkshire Township, Delaware County, Ohio. She died in 1897. Both are buried in the Berkshire Town Cemetery, Delaware County, Ohio. The children of Benjamin H. LOOP and Elizabeth FINLEY were:

He was a veteran of Company I 32nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. She died in 1875. Charles COLE married (2) Lenora HORNBACK. He had five children by Mary Ann LOOP and one child by his second wife.
3. Erastus LOOP, m. June 29, 1872, Delia CASE, daughter of Charles CASE and Catherine RIDER. In 1880, two children, Belle LOOP, age 7, and Fanny LOOP, age 3, both born in Ohio are censused living with their grandfather, Charles CASE, in Berkshire Township, Delaware County, OH. Erastus LOOP d. before 1880.
4. Hannah C. LOOP, b. May 1, 1857, m. February 19, 1874, Frank L. SPANGLER. He was b. July 29, 1854, d. April 28, 1930. She d. March 19, 1939. Both are buried in Trenton Cemetery, Delaware County, OH. They had at least one daughter:

George LOOP [George W.(2), Christian(1)] the fourth child of George W. LOOP and his first wife, was born about 1825, probably in Delaware County, Ohio. He married October 21, 1852, Margaret Ann SKIENS. He died April 22, 1857. He is buried at the Hall Cemetery, Darwin Township, Clark County, Illinois. His widow then married James RUSSELL. Daniel James LOOP [George W.(2), Christian(1)] the fifth child of George W. LOOP and his first wife, was born about 1828 in Delaware County, Ohio. He married three times. One wife's name was Eliza Ann. He died about 1900. He had at least the following children:

George W. LOOP [John(3), George W.(2), Christian(1)] the second child of John LOOP and Margaret (Peggy) BEARD was born March 10, 1840, in Vermillion County, Indiana. During the Civil War he served with his brother David in Company A 79th Illinois Infantry. He enlisted July, 1860, and was mustered out in Nashville, Tennessee, in June, 1862. His brother was killed in the war. After the war George married Louisa Angeline BROWN on October 30, 1870. She was born September 9, 1852, the daughter of Sterling A. BROWN and Susan McCOY. In 1886, George Loop filed for and was awarded an invalid's pension claiming that his disabilities were the result of his service during the war. He died July 28, 1922 in Englevale, Crawford County, Kansas. His wife applied for and received a Civil War widow's pension. She died January 20, 1930. They are both buried at Englevale. 8. Stanley Fern LOOP, b. November 13, 1889, at Rolla, Phelps County, MO, m. Ethel CARLIN, sister of George Loop's wife. He d. July 1, 1960, at Mulberry, Crawford County, KS. He spent 48 years in the U.S. Army and is buried at the National Cemetery at Fort Scott, KS.
9. George LOOP, b. July 21, 1892, in Coldwater, Comanche County, KS, m. February 28, 1914, Rozetta CARLIN, in Columbus, Cherokee County, KS. He d. April 3, 1963, at Salina, Saline County, KS. She d. February 24, 1971, at Salina, Saline County, KS. They are both buried at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina.

Daniel Tucker LOOP [John(3), George W.(2), Christian(1)] the fourth child of John LOOP and Margaret (Peggy) BEARD was born September 8, 1845, in Vermillion County, Indiana. He married his first wife, Melissa S. JONES, February 4, 1866, in Chrisman, Edgar County, Illinois. She was born about 1850 in Edgar County, the daughter of Richard Y. and Almira JONES. Melissa LOOP died August 5, 1875, probably while giving birth to her daughter Laura who died four months later. She and Laura are buried next to each other in Cherry Point Cemetery, Edgar County, Illinois. Daniel married his second wife, Mary E. MORSE (nee BOWDER) near 1883 possibly in South Dakota. She was the widow of Lee MORSE who died in 1883. She was born in 1852 in Illinois. She had two children by her first husband: Raymond LEE and Delbert LEE. She had no children by Daniel Tucker Loop. According to one of her nieces, Daniel Tucker Loop was a doctor and had a race horse named Dapper Dan. He lived near Portland, Oregon, for some time around 1915. He died December 14, 1927, in Dell Rapids, Minnehaha County, South Dakota. He is buried in the Dell Rapids Cemetery. The children of Daniel Tucker LOOP and Melissa S. JONES were:

Josiah D. LOOP [David(3), George W.(2), Christian(1)] the fifth child of David LOOP and Mary (Polly) BEARD was born July 5, 1844, in Vermillion County, Indiana. During the Civil War he served in Company F 43rd Illinois Infantry between October, 1864, and October 1865. He enlisted in place of a William LAWTON. At the time of enlistment he was described as being 5 feet 8 1/2 inches tall, light complected, dark hair and blue eyes. He married (1) December 25, 1869, Lovina PRICE in Schuyler County Illinois. She was born about 1845 in Illinois. In 1870, Josiah and Lovina were living in Sheridan Township, Cherokee County, Kansas, in the house of his older brother John. She died November 25, 1874, in Sherman, Cherokee County, Kansas, and is buried in that county. Josiah married (2) June 4, 1876, Mary Ellen MILTON. She was born August 22, 1857 in Brooklyn, Schuyler County, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel MILTON and Mary Ellen HALLOWAY. He applied with the government for an invalid's pension claiming that his medical problems were the result of his service during the Civil War. The pension was granted. Josiah D. LOOP died September 3, 1916, at Macomb, McDonough County, IL, and is buried at the Huntsville Cemetery, Schuyler County, Illinois. His widow, Mary E. LOOP, applied for and was granted a widow's pension September 30, 1916. She died September 10, 1929, in Huntsville, Schuyler County, Illinois. The children of Josiah D. LOOP and Lovina PRICE were:

He married Cynthia S., surname unknown, in Edgar County, Illinois. He is listed as a single farmer aged 21 years in the 1870 census of Sheridan Township, Cherokee County, Iowa, living near three of his cousins. He died after 1913. The children of Alexander B. He married Myrtle Maude ARMSWORTHY in Columbus, Cherokee County, Kansas. She was born August 9, 1882, the daughter of William W. ARMSWORTHY and Mary Jane BROWN. She d. January 26, 1926, at Welch, Craig County, Oklahoma. He died at Bartlett, Labette County, Kansas, September 14, 1965. They are both buried at Englevale, Crawford County, Kansas. He served in World War I. He married April 11, 1925, Elva DAVIDSON in Iola, Allen County, Kansas. He worked for K. G. & E. Mining Company and Kelso Feeds Company in Pittsburg, Kansas. He moved to Springfield, Missouri, in November, 1972, after his wife's death and lived with daughter Clarissa. He died there in 1976 and is buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg, Crawford County, Kansas. The children of Charles Estol LOOP and Elva DAVIDSON were:

He married Ethel CARLIN, daughter of William CARLIN and Amanda BARBOUR. He died July 1, 1960, at Mulberry, Crawford County, Kansas. He spent 48 years in the U.S. Army and is buried at the National Cemetery at Fort Scott, Kansas. The children of Stanley Fern LOOP and Ethel CARLIN were:

George LOOP [George W.(4), John(3), George W.(2), Christian(1)] the ninth child of George W. LOOP and Louisa Angeline BROWN was born July 21, 1892. He married February 28, 1914, Rozetta CARLIN, sister of his brother Stanley's wife. She was born March 3, 1892/3, in Englevale, Crawford County, Kansas, daughter of William CARLIN and Amanda BARBOUR. He died April 3, 1963, at Salina, Saline County, Kansas. She died February 24, 1971, at Salina, Saline County, Kansas. They are both buried at Gypsum Hill Cemetery in Salina. 1. Arnold Rudolph LOOP, b. August 12, 1915, in Englevale, Crawford County, KS, m. 1941, Alice FISHER. He d. July 7, 1946, in Salina, Salina County, KS, of gunshot wounds received in a fight in a bar.
2. Carlin Elsworth (or Alworth) LOOP, b. December 17, 1917, in Englevale, Crawford County, KS, m. Martha SCHAEFER. He was reported missing March 22, 1944, in New Guinea. He was a passenger on a B24 which crashed for unknown reasons. The wreckage was not found until 1983. His remains were identified and returned and buried in Salina, Saline County, KS, January 20, 1983. They had one son:

Robert Loop here. My great-grandfather was Lewis Loop of PA, not sure if its the same as the Lewis Loop you are related to. He was born in 1825 somewhere in PA, not sure of exact location.

Loop is a Dutch name, it is pronounced "Lope", which means "walk". I'm trying to find out if my tree goes back to Germany or if I am a Dutchman. Our family settled in McKean Co., PA in the early 1800's.

Interesting story. I'm sure we are distant cousins. My name is Robert Loop. My family is from McKean Co., PA. (Eldred) Interestingly enough, I was born in Germany as a result of my father's military service.

My father's name was Elvin James Loop and his father's was Rollo Loop. I have yet to hear from anyone who has any knowledge of either as Dad was born in 1922 and I haven't a clue as to my grandfather's DOB as he died when Dad was a child.
