Obituary: Margaret Lujan Lopez

Margaret Lujan Lopez, age 78, a longtime resident of Valparaiso passed away on Saturday, October 17, 2009. She was born on February 25, 1931 in Cleveland, New Mexico the daughter of Luis and Simonita Lujan. She was married to Ezequiel Lopez on August 7, 1947 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Margaret was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, travel, gardening, crocheting, and crafts. She was very involved in her community selling Avon and was also involved in local politics. The beautiful tulips that Margaret grew inspired the name of the street where she raised her family in Portage. Margaret is survived by her loving family; her husband, Ezequiel Lopez, Valparaiso; daughter, Vi Bennell, Portage; sons, John Lopez, Kansas City, MO, Robert (Imelda) Lopez, Mountainview, CA, and Albert (Cynthia Manzanero) Anders, Germantown, MD; grandchildren, Angel, Duane Lopez, Jonathan Lopez, Jayme (Dave) Brasser, Jimmy Bennell, Robert Lopez, and Betsy; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Connie (Greg) Gregory and Eleanore Valdez; brothers, Benjamin (Eleanor) Lujan, Ernest (Stella) Lujan, and Louis (Jane) Lujan; and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Pricilla Pantoja. A visitation for Margaret Lopez will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at Rees Funeral Home – Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with a funeral service following immediately at 12:00 noon on Wednesday with Pastor Bob Burton, officiating. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Portage. For further information please call Rees Funeral Home at (219) 762-3013 or online at www.reesfuneralhomes.com.

No tengo ningun Miguel en mi lista de familia ,pero puede ser de otra generacion en otros tiempos en CUBA y puede ser que era de otro grupo de inmigrantes en otros tiempos, busque en Espana,apellidos Gallegos y vea que las personas de apellido Iglesias somos pocos,mi abuela decia que "de los buenos quedamos pocos" la famia de ella Calcerrada de Tenerife son menos todavia ,tambien puede ver las paginas blancas de espana si tiene los certificados de nacimiento de sus abuelos puede encontrar los datos de los abuelos de ellos,Si Miguel es de Orence somos familia entonces,SUERTE Mario ..HA casi se me olvida decirle el origen del apellido viene de Escandinavia y es muy antiguo ,estamos en todos los paises del mundo

My grandfather was Jose Lopez de Victoria from Mayaguez or Anasco, he was married to my grandmother, Felipa Rodriguez. They migrated to the Dominican Republic in the early 1900s. they had 5 children, Jose, my father, Amalia, Cruz, Ursula and Rosario. they died and were burried in DR . I know my father used to say he had other brothers from my grandfather's first marriage and they stayed in Puerto Rico and some I believed migrated to Cuba. do you think we may be related? Cecilia Lopez de Victoria is from Lares, Puerto Rico. She was my mother's aunt. I believe she was the daughter of Gerardo Lopez de Victoria.Her grandfather was Raimundo Lopez de Victoria. The family is buried in Lares.Rafael, I believe, was my mom's cousin who lived in N. Y.

Just happened across your post after starting a little research on my dad. My dad was Gilbert Lopez and Albert was his father. I had not see him for several years before he passed away but my mom filled in all the details and they fit the family your looking for. Albert and Emma were my grandparents and they had 8 sons and daughters. I'm sure by now you have far more information about the family, but I thought I should respond with some information. I am looking for anyone that has any information on the MARTINEZ family from Cerritos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.

My Great-Grandparents were Rafael Martinez whom married Elodia Castillo. Together they had 10 children.

1. Maria Martinez (a.k.a. Maruca) Born in 1897'ish - Think her husbands name was Fernando Anaya. Together they had 8 kids that I have names on as listed below:
1. Graciela Anaya,
2. Celia Anaya,
3. Delia Anaya,
4. Francisco Antonio Anaya,
5. Maria Del La Luz Anaya,
6. Jose Luis Anaya,
7. Guillermo Anaya and
8.Benjamin Anaya that married a woman named Lupe on January 28, 1949. Benjamin was also in the Military.....Not sure what branch. I have a a picture from his wedding and a picture of him in his uniform.

2. Asuncion Martinez -(aka- Concha) - Married Julio Montecinos - Lived on a ranch somewhere in Mexico. Together they had a daughter named: Maria Teresa Montesinos

3. Gregoria - Baby that died at 2 yrs old (I think)

4. Jesus Martinez -(aka - Chuey) Not sure of wifes name. I want to say her Maiden name was Zuniga. Together they had a daughter named: Maria De Guadalupe Martinez

5. Ignacia Martinez- (aka Chita) - B: 1900 -D: 1964- Came to US in the 1920's - Never Married

6. Jose Martinez- (aka. Pepe) - B:1905- D:1969 -Came to the US in early 20's.

7. Rafael Martinez -(aka. Rafa) - B:1909 - D: 1967 -Came to US in early 20's- Married Tomasa Coronado: had one daughter Maria del Carmen Martinez.

8. Consuelo Martinez- (aka. Chelo)- B: 1913 - D:2009 - Came to US in the 20's. - Never Married.

9. Esperanza Martinez- (aka. Pera) - B:1915 and still living. Came to US in the 20's- Married Andres Sepulveda and had 4 children:

10. Baby Boy that was stillborn

The story is that my Great-Grandmother Elodia died not long after the death of her last child. I know that my great-Grandfather is buried in Cerritos. (have a picture of his graveside from about 1957)

Brothers, Rafael, Jose and possibly Jesus came to the states to find work and would send money to the family in Mexico. Eventually, they sent for Ignacia, Consuelo and Esperaza to come live in the United states. They resided in Houston, Texas for over 80 years. Consuelo recently passed away on August 5, 2009 at 96 years of age. The only Sibling left is Esperanza Martinez Sepulveda. She is now 94.

I believe we may have cousins in San Antonio, Texas also...Surnames included in this post are: MARTINEZ, CASTILLO, ANAYA, MONTESINOS or MONTECINOS.
