Dr. H. L. Lorentzen, one of the many useful in desirable citizens whom the Scandinavian countries have furnished to the United States, has visited many parts of the world, constantly broadening his mental horizon, and his name has long figure prominently in medical circles of Petaluma. He was born in Denmark April 28, 1865, and received his early education in his native land. He arrived in New York City in 1884 and went from there to the antipodes, spending ten years in Australia and New Zealand. In 1893, he returned to the United States, locating in San Francisco, California, and in 1900 was graduated from a Hahnemann Medical college. He completed a course in the College of physicians and surgeons two years later, but before entering that institution was ship's surgeon on the Japanese steamship Nippon Maru, been thus engaged during the year 1901. Dr. Lorentzen practiced in San Francisco from 1902 until 1906 and has since been a resident of Petaluma . He conducts a general practice that specializes in electoral-therapeutics and his office at No. 32 Washington Street contains every modern appliance for treatments of this character. He increased his professional knowledge by postgraduate work in Europe in 1903 and his services are in constant demand, owing to his skill in checking the progress of disease.

Dr. Lorentzen was married March 30, 1899, to Miss Louise Tuggy, a native of London, England, and three daughters were born to them: Nellie, now the wife of Rev. Lester Jones, of Astoria, Oregon; Alice, a talented musician and resident of New York City, and Esther, a graduate of the University of California. Dr. Lorentzen maintains an independent attitude in politics and cast his ballot for the candidate whom he considers best qualified for office, standing at all times for progress, reform and improvement in public affairs. Along fraternal lines he is connected with the Knights of Pythias, the Foresters of America and the Woodsman of the World, also belonging to Dania, a society composed of his fellow countrymen. He is a member of the State Homeopathic Medical Society and an able and highly esteemed representative of his profession.
