Read your query. My mother was born in Caoria (1923), Ermenegilda Loss (Gambet), she has mentioned that her auntie emigrated to Brazil around 1900. Could we be related?

Our Loss family came from the then Prussian Town of Fritzlar. We have church records containing the names from the archives in Fulda, where they are stored.
I do not think that our families are connected from the confirmed information I have sadly.

Hi. Do you know where August Loss was living with his 5 children? Because my great great grandmother is Anna Loss (1842?-1906). She was born in Troppau (Oppava), CZ.

My Loss ancesters left Germany towards the end of the nineteenth century but stayed in London.I do not think any went to the USA.
Have you looked on the Latter Day Saints web site, www.familysearch.org
You might be lucky to find where your family originated from by searching the IGI.

Although I can only document my Loss roots in New York and Connecticut, I am very interested in the Losses of Pennsylvania. Would love to hear from any of you researching the Pennsylvania Losses. My Lewis Milton Loss was born in Madison County, N.Y., in 1825 and died in Chicago in 1896. Thanks.

The beginnings of my Loss clan are in New York and Connecticut in the 1700s and 1800s. Would like to try to connect to Germany or any other European countries. Does anyone follow any migrations to the U.S.?

Robert F. Loss

I have traced Robert F. Loss back to Kansas. He married an Annie Crosby from Ireland there in 1871. He was in the military and came to Montana in 1877. His father was Frederick Loss and his Mother was Augusta Luxkey. He said that they were from Germany and they arrived in the US about 1852. He was born in 1847. Just curious if anybody has info on this family prior to 1871.

Looking for anyone that may have information or be related to the Richard Loss family of New York.

Richard Loss (b.1810) married Emily Dilts (1815-1855). Their children were:

Myra (b.1834)
Samuel (b.1835)
Franklin Ariel (b.1841)
Laura Ellen (b.1843)
Hubert Horation (b. 1845)
Frederick (b.~1851)
Charles (b. ~1852)

Hubert was born in Onondaga County and married Julia.
They had children Willis (b.1869) and Eugene (b.1882).

I have a little bit more on the family, but I am hoping someone may also be researching this line.

Hi Vince, Just read your posting...I too am researching the Loss/Loß family.
My Loss' come from the Fritzlar/Kassel area of Germany, but came to England late 1890's as I cannot find them in the 1881 Census. Heinrich Loss and his wife Louisa née Volke appear in the 1901 Census with 3 children. Heinrich was my Great Grandfather.
I have found a 1901 Census listing for Augustus Jacob Loss aged 22 at the time living in London and he is a master baker.
I have a death notice for him, he died aged 58years in 1937 and is buried in East Ham Cemetery.
I'm not sure where he fits in to my family tree but as we have the death notice I guess he does.....Might this fit with your Augustus?? Look forward to a reply

I have a line in the Loss surname. Originally from Fritzlar in Germany. My great great grandfather was August Loss(no dates) Married Franciscka Fuchs (1824-1904)they Had 5 children Laurence, Anna, Franciska, Philip and Heinrich was born 1870 or 1872 died in1934, he married Louisa Augusta Volk.
I would love to hear from anyone with a connection to this line.

Having spent some time researching this family I've found some new information. My GGGrandfather was Jacob LOSS (Deceased by 1896) Married 1841 in Scherfede, Germany to Franziska SCHAFMEISTER (1824-1904).
There are five children, Laurence, Anna, Franziska, Philip and Heinrich. Heinrich is my GGrandfather (1863-1934) married Louisa Augusta VOLKE (1870-1929) in 1896.
I would like to find out more about Heinrich's brothers and sisters from Germany, probably Fritzlar.

I have some information on my family that is LÖSS, all are of comune of "Caoria di Canal San Bovo" Province of Trento, I know that in this periodo many people had immigrated here for Brazil, and had established roots in two states, I believe that in the south of Brazil a family that has a called ancestor HEINRICH LOSS, coicidência exists or my great-grandmother did not call "Luigia" and both had been born in Trento, believe that the origin of the family is the same one. My apologies Dan, Uriah was Mary's brother and is the one I am seeking information on, and descended from. Yes, I too have Peter Bailey and Amelia Weller as Mary's parents. Do you have any dates for them? Or any info on Uriah her brother? I have from a family letter that Uriah was the son of Peter and lists the siblings one being Mary Alice. The letter says that Uriah was a teacher and quit teaching to enter politcs, in PA. Uriah's children were born in Freeburg, PA. I have not been able to locate any documentation on him, not even a tombstone in Snyder Co, where many of the Bailey's are buried. Also, I can't seem to track down Peter and his wife Annie Trutt anywhere, for dates or documentaton. Before Peter got it, after Uriah got it. But these two generations are evading me. I have no DOB but he had a son born in 1881 in freeburg, snyder county, pa. I est. his dob to be between 1850-1863. Uriah and Amelia had four known children; Arthur, Ammon, Hattie (Harriett) and Clarence, that should help with connecting to a census for 1880 - 1900. Arthur married in 1902. I rember a Delmar Loss growing Up Visiting Us in Aberdeen S. Dak.
I believe This Line Of Loss's were From Boone Or Ames Iowa.

for whatever it's worth, I believe the branch of the Orsinger family you refer to settled in Western PA. If you use internet white pages you will find quite a few. I talked on the phone to one, said the old relatives spoke Italian - not German like the rest of the family that I research.
