Hi Lorie. I am researching the John and Joseph Loudon families from Londonderry, Ireland that emigrated to Argyle, New York about 1800 and from there to Salem, Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, etc. I am not aware of any Emma Loudon born about 1866 msybe in Kentucky. We have an Emma (Ohlschlager) Loudon in the Loudon family we are researching but her maiden name was not Loudon. If you encounter any other Loudon researchers especially Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota or Nebraska please let me know. good luck in your research.

I am trying to get more information about Edward E (possibly Emerson) Bradshaw (b. c1862) and his wife Emma Loudon (b. c1866). I believe they were both born in Kentucky but were married in Illinois in 1887. This all makes sense in terms of what I know of my Bradshaw family.
I believe that Edward was the son of Leander Clark (b. c1812, KY) but am not certain.
I have not been able to find reliable information concerning Emma Loudon regarding who her parents are etc.

Thank you for your assistant!
Lorie Bradshaw

Lowdon Family in Delaware County, New York

I am looking for information on the Lowden / Loudon / Louden families that lived in Delaware County, New York. In 1810 there were two families in Kortright - John Lowdon and Robert Lowdon. In John's family there are 13 people and in Robert's famiy there are 6 people. They are listed side by side and I'm pretty sure they must be related. I'd appreciate any suggestions or connections regarding this family. Many thanks.
Hi Christine - I am from this extended Loudon (Loudan as you spell it below)family and have seen Loudon spelled many ways on offical documents - though many come from John and Lovina Leigh Loudon from Argyle, New York. I have the same information as you; just different spellings. If you are interested, I'd very much like to compare information. Thank you - Sue sug53@earthlink.net

Loudon / Shannon Families in Argyle, Wa County, New York

Hello -- I'm researching the Loudon family and recently found a will that opened up new surnames for me : Shannon / Cuthbert / Stewart and Randles. I am hoping to find more information on each of these families to see how they all connect together. Here's the story: Joseph and Jane McConnelle Loudon came to USA from Ireland abt 1800. Joseph was naturalized in 1809. Their children, born in Ireland are Mary Ann and John and born in the USA are Joseph and William. John is my 3rd gr grandfather and married Lovina Leigh. John and Lovina left Argyle abt 1833 for Indiana and their family was raised there. (My info from Indiana is fairly complete.) I've done some research on the extended Loudon family and found that three of Joseph Loudon Sr. siblings also came to America - some went to Indiana as well. I have started census work and have had help using the Argyle Patent and a few other Washington County Resources, but now I think I need to dig deeper and locate other researchers and legal documents. Any assistance would be most appreciated! Thank you -- Sue sug53@earthlink.net

I don't know whether or not that we come from the same family, but I have been working on my geneaolgy, and I find a Loudon connection. My grandfather's name was Hugh Loudon McConnell. His mother's name was Agnes Loudon. She was the daughter of John Loudon, found on the 1871 Census, living on Loudon land in Cambusnethan. She married William McConnell. Their children were Janet, John, Agnes, Elizabeth, Isabella, William, and Hugh. Hugh being the youngest born in July 1898. I would love to hear from you, if we have a connection.

Hello Iain,

I have been searching for my elusive Scots-Irish Loudons for many years and recently found a clue that perhaps you might be able to help with. My immigrant ancestor was Joseph Loudon and his wife was Jane McConnelle. Joseph's parents were John and Ann (no last name.) The information I found was that John's parents were John and Jean Campbell and his parents were Nicholas and Elizabeth Morton Loudon. Nicholas' father was James and his parents were James and Margaret Cunningham Lothian. James' parents were Robert and Merjorie Anderson Lowdone and Robert's parents were John Loudoun and Janet Quhytt. John's parents were John and Janet Lumsden Loudoun of Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland. This is all unconfirmed/sourced information, but I thought something here might be familiar to you? Many thanks in advance. I don't have any information on a John Loudon and Grace Peacock but I am researching Joseph/John Loudon (Louden) family from Londonderry, Ireland that emigrated to Argyle, NY about 1800. I am interested in any and all Loudon (Louden) information and especially trying to confirm the link between Loudons of Londonderry and those of Scotland. I have brief information that a John and james Louden emigrated from Scotland to Ireland in 1694. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. good luck.

In 1910, Mary was married to Harry Loudon and they had a one year old son named Henry. Perhaps something tragic occurred--by the following year Henry was in a orphanage . This was not her intent as Mary left her son in the care of neighbors while she searched for her husband. By the time, Mary returned to her son--another couple had fled with him to California. The adoption had never been finialized! Nearly forty years later Henry discovered he was still legally a Loudon. With a wife and four childen using the suppose adoption name, it was simpler to just continue doing just that. Especially, after making contact with a Loudon relative and whoever this person was,he would not returns any calls.
Mary's maiden name was Marie. She was born in South Dakota abt. 1886. Her parents were born in Norway. Who was she? I have oftened wondered for years.
Harry Loudon was in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri in 1920?

POW/MIA Korean War, LOUDON

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Fulton County Ohio as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.

Soldier: DONALD HOMER LOUDON
Born: Jan 27, 1915, Caucasian
Date of loss: December 1, 1950, MIA

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Loudon family is one of those missing.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Since my 2003 message was posted here I have received no replies at all. However, my e-mail has changed, so perhaps that is the problem I have found a bit of new information that might help identify this man. He patented a firealarm in 1940; he owned the Superior Pain and Varnish Col in Scranton, PA, he retired to Dania, FL in about 1962, whre he died in 1969. His widow's name was Helen - I have no idea what her maiden name was, and since no SS #, I assume she was a housewife. If this information rings any bells for anyone, please respond!!! I know he had at least two children with Helen, but have no idea of their names. They would have been born in the 1940s.

I am interested in any and all John Loudons especially from the area of Loudon castle near Ayrshire, Scotland. My Loudons were in Londonderry, Ireland by 1750's and immigrated to New York about 1800. Joseph Loudon and his wife Jane McConnelle with their two small children including John Loudon born about 1798 in Londonderry settled near North Argyle, Washington County, New York where Joseph and Jane are buried. John and his wife Lovina Leigh moved to Washington County Indiana near Salem about 1832 with their four small children born in New York. I believe that Joseph Loudon's father was a John Loudon. Would appreciate more information on your John Loudon. Thanks!

HI
I am trying to help a lady research her Wyse family. Her grandfather was John Wyse from Chatham New Brunswick. He was born abt.1844-1850. He married Elizabeth Rennie in Northumberland in 1870. They had 10 children. Elizabeth died giving birth to a set of twin boys in 1882. He later remarried Agnes Lane. Not sure if he remarried there or in Mass. He had another 8 children from the second marriage. If any of this sound familiar could you please email myself or pjt227@webtv.net She has dates for all of the children that was left to her from her grandmother Jennie Wyse who married James Leo Purcell. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer this.

Actually, I don't have much on the Loudoun family because I was researching the Wyse family but here is what I did find:
1851 census Chatham N.B.
Alexander Loudoun bonr 1813 in Scotland Merchant came to Chatham in 1837
Mary born 1831 came 1835
Agnes 1 1/2 born N.B.
Mary 1 month born N.B.
Died May 19, 1863, Henry youngest s/o Alexander aged 3 yrs. 5 months.
I would bet there is more information available but I haven't looked for it.
I am not related to either family in any way but compiled what information I could find on the Wyse family to pass on to a Wyse descendant who I am sure would love to correspond with you. I posted her name and address on the Northumberland board.
I am going to see if I can contact you via e-mail and send you all the Wyse info I have.

Re: Agnes and Janet Loudon

Agnes and Janet were part of a large family, many of whom died in infancy. Their parents then named new children after their deceased siblings so it gets a little complicated. The dates which I have in my data do not quite agree with yours but the children that I have are:

Descendants of John Loudon, Overmoor Farm, Darvel, , Ayr, Scotland
--------------------------
1-John Loudon b. Abt 1788
+Helen Morton b. Unknown
|--2-John Loudon b. 1812,
|--2-Helen Loudon b. 1813
|--2-Janet Loudon b. 1814
|--2-Janet Loudon b. 1816
|--2-Jean Loudon b. 1817
|--2-Helen Loudon b. 1819
|--2-Helen Loudon b. 1820
|--2-Agnes Loudon b. 1822
|--2-Barbara Loudon b. 1825
|--2-Thomas Loudon b. 1826
|--2-Archibald Loudon b. 1828
|--2-Matthew Loudon b. 1830
|--2-Hugh Loudon b. 1831
|--2-Helen M Loudon b. 1836

The 1841 Census has the following information for Overmoor Farm:

Name	Age	Occupation
John Loudon	50	Farmer
Helen	45
Janet	21
Jean	19
Thomas	14
Archibald	12
Matthew	10
Hugh	8
Helen	4
John Campbell	19	(Manual Labourer?)

John Loudon	25	Farmer (son of John and Helen)
Catherine	22
Mary	4mth

You will notice that these ages don't match the first set and neither of them matches your information on Janet. I don't know where Agnes was in 1841 at the time of the census - there is still some work to be done.

John(1788)'s brother Archibald is my 3G Grandfather. Most of my information on this part of the family comes from the work of my grandfather Robert (Bob) Loudon in the pre-computer 1960s. If you are interested in comparing notes on this part of our family tree please email me - any help would be very welcome.

Ian

Hello - I am looking for information on Mary Elizabeth (Loudon) and Everett Elmer Kunkle who were married about 1908 - perhaps in Minnesota. Everet had a daughter, Cecelia, by a previous marriage. Everet and Mary had a daughter, Fern, who was born 21 Feb 1910 in North Dakota. Fern married Verl Curtis Weaver and they had a daughter, Sharron Lee, 31 Jan 1940, who married Arnold Sandberg. Mary Loudon was a sister to my grandfather, Erwin Greeley Loudon. I have a lot of information to share :-) Thanks, Susan Manz Graham sug53@earthlink.net

I just got your response to my old post about Adam Loudon ... I saw another post & answered it, but thought I should post it again for you ...

Adam Loudon was the son of John Louden & Christianna Hammaker or Liddick ... At the time of the 1850 Census, Christianna (1816-1888) was a widow living with her 5 children (William, Lydia, Adam, Frederick, & John) in Watts Twp., Perry Co., PA ...

At the time of the 1860 Census, Christianna had married John Lowe, Jr., and had two more children (Louisa & Cyrenius Lowe) ... William Louden (my gg-grandfather) was living in the Thomas Hayes household ... and Adam was living in the Christian Livingston in Watts Twp. ... working as farm hands ...

William & Adam both served in the Civil War ... Adam's Civil War record gives Liddick as Christianna's maiden name ... William & his sister Lydia's death certificates list Hammaker as Christianna's maiden name ... I haven't been able to discover which maiden name is correct ... There were many marriages between the Loudens, Hammakers, Lowes,& Liddicks of Perry Co. ...

Adam went west to Iowa & I've trace some of his descendants ... I have Meda married to James McClymonds, not Plympton ...

William Louden married & moved to Maryland ...

Lydia married first John W. Liddick, then James Lowe (both Civil War veterans) & resided in Perry Co. her entire life ...

I haven't been able to trace Frederick who was 5 years old at time of the 1850 Census ... and not listed in the 1860 Census ... possibly he died young ...

John Louden (the youngest son) married & remained in Perry Co. his entire life ...

As far as I know, Adam didn't have a brother named Jake or Jacob ...

I have a death certificate for Jacob Louden, b. 10 June 1841, Perry Co., PA. He died 18 Sept 1913 in Hopkins, Nodaway Co., MO. survived by his wife Amanda Renn Louden and his son, William Louden. The death certificate names his parents as John Louden and Christina Yinkst. There was a Henry Yingst who lived in the neighborhood where I believe Adam was born. This same Christina may have also had the names of Hammaker, Liddick, and Lowe. I would like to know the order of these names--which was her birth name? I suspect William Louden and Adam Louden referred to in the previous posts are Jacob's brothers. Can anyone provide proof?
