Hi Barbara
I'm afraid I can't help you with you your quest but I am hoping you may be able to assist myself.
My father and my grandmother were friendly with two sisters Ruth and Phyllis Hollak. Ruth died in June or early July 1966 and as far as I can assertain Phyllis was still alive in 1980. Ruth had lived all her life in a wheelchair. Niether Ruth nor Phyllis ever married.
My father has been gone 37 years and my grandmother died in 1944. What remains is a very beautiful photograph of Phyllis as a young woman which she gave to my grandmother as a gift.
The name "Hollak" does not appear in any electoral roles or telephone books in Australia. I am certain of the spelling as I have been accessing the roles for when the sisters were living in Victoria.
Ruth and Phyllis' parents were John Joseph Hollak and Jean Veronica Loveday. I don't know who was the eldest of the sisters but Ruth was 52 when she died in 1966. I assume that John and Jean were married somewhere between 1900 and 1914 and that Jean was born in the 1880's or early 1890's.
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Kindest regards
Ian Reid
