I am seeking further information on Thomas Lovelady, born 1709 in North Carolina, married to Hannah Hix. Numerous people seem to have his father listed as Thomas Lovelace, but this man died in 1689,20 years before his supposed son was born. Does anyone have any further correct information??? I am becoming rather frustrated. I would greatly appreciate any assistance in this regard.

I come from a long line of Lovelady's. The other names mentioned above are family names that were added with marriage.It seems that most of the lovelady's resided in and around TN, & MO.The first Lovelady's to come to this country were from England, and also a few from Ireland.As with any research you will find that there are many, many a thousand of Lovelady's in the U.S.A. today. If we all dig deep enough, we may find alot of us have direct links in our trees.There are many Lovelady's that live in TX, and I'm still trying to find that connection to you, and I will soon.The other state that has a long history of Lovelady's residing in, is Arkansas. There is a Lovelady cemetary that I've heard has quite a few residents.If there is a web site of the Lovelady name, I would surely like to know. I have some detailed information of my direct line, but as for thier children and brothers and sisters, I'm still working on that. I be glad to help anyone, and if anyone would like to share thier information, I'd love to hear from you.

A silly question but my I am a Lovelady, well almost. My great grandfather changed our name from Lovelady to White (my grandfather said he thought Lovelady wasn't tough enough for a cowboy) but my grandfather doesn't know where it originated from. Is it Irish or English? I haven't been able to find out. Any information would be appreciated.

I have my husband's Lovelady family back throughj (for sure) William Benton Lovelady, b: 15 May 1842 in MO, d: 31 March 1928 in MO. Married to Sarah Thacker.
Moses Jones Lovelady, b: 1803 in TN, d: 1896 in Arcadia, OK. Married 3 ...all Nancys...Nancy Ward & Nancy Cash.
John Henry Lovelady, b: 1770 in SC, d:1841 in TN. Married Mary____ and Mary Ellis born in 1775 in SC and d: 1850 in Smith, TN.

It's "iffy" before the above...supposedly a Simeon P. Lovelady,
wives unknown. Then Thomas Lovelady, born 1725 in NC and d: 1783 in NC. Married Hannah Hix and an "unknown" and Leah Hix and another "unknown". John's mother was supposedly unknown. Then another "Thomas Lovelady" b: 1700 and died 1872 in NC. Then a Thomas Lovelace??
Wives: Mary(s) unknown.

Just started researching my husband's Lovelady roots. His great grfather was William Benton Lovelady whose father apears to be Moses Jones Lovelady. This line seems to go back to a Thomas...but not sure which one. Found one that went on to Oregon, one Lovelady (Lovelattie) that was in the Carolinas, etc.

I am posting this for anyone looking for information on a Jim Lovelady who died in Missouri. My Great-aunt, Hattie Irene Jacobs, was married to a Jim Lovelady, maybe around 1920. My Mother believes he died in an accident where he worked. He is buried at Fairview Cemetery, Libery, Clay County, Missouri. There is no stone. He is buried next to my Great-grandfather, Parker Jacobs. I have no dates, except my Mothe tells me that he died before 1941 (the year my Great-grandather passed away). She also tells me that she believed he was quite a bit older than my Aunt and that they had no children. My Aunt later married a man named Sales.

I am trying to help this friend of mine find out who his father is or was.James was born in Avery ,Oklahoma on dec.13th 1946 His mother put him up for adoption when he was born. He feels he lived a very good life with his adopted parents but always wonderd ( in the back of his mind )who his real father was.His mother worked in a hotel/Resterant called the Wilabee Hotel ( oweners at the time were Fred and neoma wilabee, friends of the family who adopted him. ) in Guymon ,Oklahoma.This took place in 1946. His father was a Bus driver for a company like Continental, Greyhound or Trailways we are not sure which stopped there at this time but this was the bus station were they purchased tickets.His mothers name was Zelda Roubidoux and she was 21yrs. old at the time , she was a housekeeper/ waitress there. He ( Jimmy Lovelady ) was one of the drivers that stopped there,He was 27 according to the birth certificate.He could be 84 now. He may not even know of the son he bore. James only wants to know what he looked like and what he was like. James was adopted out threw the : County Court Juvenile Division of Texas County, Oklahoma.

I'm a Great, Great, Great,..Grandson of Thomas Preston Lovelady that moved from Tenn. to the Oregon Terr. in 1848. He founded a town west of Salem, Oregon, called Dallas. We are actually French from the house of Lamour'e (love) I believe that our family was involved in the Norman invasion of England. We have kinship with the Munro and Armstrongs from Scotland, and the Fitzgeralds from Ireland. We are allowed to wear the Tartans from these clans.

West D Lovelady of Lowndes MS was married to Malinda Callaway and they moved to Texas in 1854. He is listed as an early minister of record in Van Zandt Co. They had Martha b.MS 1841,Larkin L b. MS 1843, Sarah b.MS 1846,Rhoda b.TX 1854 and Mary b. TX 1857- they were last listed on the 1870 Census. West is reported to have died in Texas 1880.
Sarah married a King,"Mollie" married a Byrd, Larkin died on his way to war and Rhoda married Thomas Burns. My line is descended from Thomas and Rhoda.

I have seen my ? Mary Lovelady with two MAIDEN NAMES ? (1) Mc Gee ???(2) Ellis ??? I may be putting her middle name in HERE as her MAIDEN NAME ??? But, some old texts do not specify ! I've seen John Lovelady Mary (Ellis) Lovelady etc... I've had to just GUESS ? I know I ,keep an open mind on this stuff, heck some of those folks keeping records way back then were illiterate so keep an open mind ! I do'nt know anything for sure until it is proven , heck my last name was supposed to be many different things and has been until ME ! Some CENSUS reports and such as "court documents" have listed my Name as Shrun or Shrom, then there is Shramm,Schrum,Srum,Schramm, this is exactally what I mean as "keep an open mind" all them names ARE MY FAMILY TOO !Just for info. to everyone who may not know these things yet, some ressons for spelling errors/changes are FAMILY ARGUMENTS, or Law Enforcement pursuit, causing folks to change their idenity by changing the spelling ! I've seen Father with Shrum and son with Schrum and so forth, thought it could'nt hurt to share this! NOW this is my family I know relatives with different Surnames who have the same kinds of stories with their surname spelling or a complete NAME CHANGE, LOVELADY's and STARR's (well some of them) were Cherokee Indins and may have been hiding from the Government or other Indins who pursued them , I think my people have done this, so I'm hardpressed to trace MY FAMILY.
