TIPTON, Iowa -- William Joseph Lovell, 79, of Rochester, died Saturday, July 29, 2000, at his home after an extended illness.

Services will be at Fry Funeral Home. The Rev. Norman Anderson will officiate. Organist will be Sharon Stiff and guitarist will be Michael Becker. Pallbearers will be Dutch Dickey, Alvin Becker, Duane Dotson, Donnie Stiff, Leonard Eichelberger, Jerry Wood.

Mr. Lovell was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Cedar County, the son of George Wilson Lovell and Ethel Morgan Lovell Yerington. He married Mamie Etta Daufeldt on June 24, 1942, in Rochester.

He worked for Cedar County for 30 years in secondary road maintenance .

He was a member of Rochester Methodist Church and a past Moose Lodge member.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Becker of Wilton; two sons, Warren Lovell and his wife, Crystal and Roger Lovell and his wife, Mary, all of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Ethel; his wife, Mamie Lovell in 1995; brothers, Frank and Kenneth Lovell; half brother, Russell Lovell; a half sister, Helen Emerson
