Help! Lovetts from Twiggs & Houston counties GA 1830s-1850
I'm going to try this again. I'm searching for my Lovett ancestors who migrated from Georgia to Louisiana in the 1840s. There's evidence that they came to GA from NC (or SC).
Here are the facts I know:
1) My forebear, Joshua Herren Lovett was born about 1832 in Twiggs Cty, GA (by CSA soldier info). I'm not sure who his father was.
2) Herren's mother was listed as Elleonder Lovit on the 1850 shows up in Bienville Parish Louisiana census with 3 children -
Mary (b. late 1820s),
Herin (b. abt 1832),
Bright (b. mid 1830s).
There was no husband. Records indicate Elleonder was born around 1795-1800 in NC or SC.
3) In the late 1820s and early 1830s they were in Twiggs Cty, GA. Sometime in the mid 1830s they were in Houston Cty GA. 1850 in Louisiana.
4) Herren had a younger brother, William Bright Lovett who was born in the mid-1830s in Houston Cty GA. This information was obtained thru CSA records.
If you have any information on this line, please let me know. I would greatly appreciate it - I've been chasing this alligator for years now.
My old Lovett family bible includes Herren's birth date, marriage to his wife Mary Haseltine Wrenn in Louisiana in 1858, the birth of their child (my g-grandfather Alonzo Cornelius Lovett in 1868), but it doesn't record Herren's death. I'm assuming he died prior to 1870, because 1870 and after his wife Mary is listed as Head. Unless he disappeared, and I don't know about it.
Thanks for anything you can help with.
