Looks like you are inquiring about my family tree as well.
Bonny McDaniel has been researching our family tree for 35 years now. Please contact me for the details. I am trying to make the Canadian-US connection in our family tree. All I have found out for sure is that George A Lovie married Cora Bieny Pickens and had 7 children in Scotland before immigrating to Ontario Canada in 1836. Their children were as follows: William (1815), Alexander (1819), Belle (1823) Barbara (1824) Cora Bieny (1829), Anna Margaret (1833) and Mary (1834)
My direct connection is William. He is my great-great grandfather. I am unclear as to how he got to the US.

She married John Russel around 1833.
I think her parents may have been James and Isbel

Janet Mitchell was the daughter of James Mitchell and Elizabeth Lamond.
Her grandfather was another James Mitchell married to Isabella Lovie.

Looking for any information about the ancestors of Cora LOVIE/LOVEY. She was born 19 Dec 1829 in Scotland and immigrated to Canada. With her first husband Henry COLLINGS/COLLINS she had 9 children. Henry died 1867-1871 approximately. She married her second husband William Richardson BAKER on 21 Sep 1895 in Brockville, Ontario, Canada.
Cora's nine children with her first husband Henry COLLINGS were:
William, George Alexander, Elizabeth Ann, Daniel Edgerton, Carrie Maria, Barton David, Sarah Frances, Jonathan Robert, and Mary Ellen.
Cora died 26 May 1907 in Frontenac Co., Ontario, Canada.
Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Levana: I have your family...your Cora was a sister to my ancestor, George Lovie, who lived in Nevada Co CA and in San Mateo, CA.
HIs father, William, was born 10 Nov 1815, in London Eng where his father, Major George A. Lovie, served in the Scottish Highlanders.

Hi. Saw your message and I have a Barbara Lovie that married into my Rymer line. I have in my notes that she is from Scotland b.13May1842, but this date may not be accurate. Sound familiar?

Once,I found a James Lovie on a ship passenger list around 1850 and forgot to bookmark the page. Have not been able to find it again. It listed James and Mary Lovie from Scotland. If anyone has seen this list, would you please let me know.

My grgrgrandfather,James Lovie, was born in Scotland (date unknown)and was married to Mary Jane (or Margaret Jane). They came to Canada in the early 1850's. They had a son, also James Lovie, born 1853 in the USA.

Thank you for your response. Not many elder Lovie's left for me to talk to. I still have a lot of searching to do.
I did find a passenger list from Scotland with James Lovie and wife on it but forgot to mark the site and can't find it again. The dates coincided with my dates. Will keep searching.

My great grandmother is also named Cora Lovie, she was born in Grassvalley 1858 and died 1895 she married Samuel McCurdy. Her father was born in Scotland, 1826, William Lovie. Have you heard of him? Do you know about the Lovie family in Scotland??

Probably a bit early for you, but my LOVIE family come from around the Pitsligo / Fraserburgh area in Aberdeen. I have traced them back to the early 1700's to George LOVEY marrying Janet LESSLY.

My step great grandmother was Elizabeth (Lizzie)Lovie born 7 July 1869 Forgue Aberdeenshire - daughter of George Irvine Lovie & Jane Thomson who married 27 Nov 1853 Forglen & Alvah Banffshire. They had 8 other children.
This might give you an area to search in for your Lovies, just a suggestion.
