The Lowe's I am researching are from Ireland. It is said that all the Irish Lowe's originated from France. The original spelling of the name being L'eau, there were five brothers who left France with the Hugenots, went to England and fought in Cromwell's army and took the English spelling of the name Lowe. Cromwell rewarded them for their loyalty by giving them estates in Ireland. Two brothers remained in Ireland, one near Dublin and the other in County Galway, the other three returned to England. My grandfather Andrew Lowe, was born in County Westmeath and came to Canada in 1901.His father was Andrew Lowe married to Lydia Hankinson who had Danish roots.
