Hi i am the great grand daughter of nehimaih lowell son of moses. that seems pretty clear. i wonder if you have much info of the ansectors of moses. it seems his first son was named david with middle name nehimiah and i get confused in cencus records as the two brothers named their daughters mary, and hattie the same born close in age to wear i wonder sometimes if david and nehemiah are the same person. probably not as the Lowells certainly had a tradition of naming their children the same, frequently in the same order. any info would be great. My grandfather was william lowell listed as william lowel in white side Ill 1880 to father Nehimiah and Susanna Vance. Nehimiah was first married to a Ellen or a Hellen who he had Thomas and Chauncy with and then my grandpa william. It was after that on feb 14 1873 in whiteside that Nehimaniah married Susanna Vance and had Mary, Hattie, Stella and John. any info forward or into the past would be so very welcome. thanks candace amy lowell

hey girl ive gathered all kinds of info. esp on william lowells mother who is listed as ellen barnes but i find hand wtitten as hellen bourrows. also i can"t find a birth record for william which we all show as 1872 0r 1871 but get this i found a william lowell born in iowa in 1869. I use the helleca sd as a base cencus and william does list himself as born in iowa on that one. I am still in question if william is indead ellens son or perhaps susannas??? also in question is wheather ellen or Hellen which ever it may be acctually died??? from records its obvoiouse Nehemiah remarried susanna vance but we dont really know the first wife died. if she didn't there is a woman of her description ive tracked to CA and back to the east coast. What if she didn"t die in 1873?? does any one have her death record. she may of left for unkown reasons????

I have a copy of “The Lowells and Their Institute”, by Edward Weeks, which I would like to get back in the hands of descendants or family members. The 202 page hardcover book was copyright 1966, and contains lots of genealogy of the Lowell family, including illustrations of John Lowell Jr., John Amory Lowell, Augustus Lowell, A. Lawrence Lowell and Ralph Lowell. The Higginson, Amory and Cabot families, who married into the Lowell family, are mentioned.
Hi Craig, I have, since i last heasrd from you proven my connection with disnthe and John lowell. Napoleon is indeed their son. Also ,napoleons son John louis Lowell was the Father of my grandfather- James Warren Lowell. I have found this John's death place and burial place. Have obtained his death cert. He died in Torrington, Litchfield, Ct in 1917. He was married to Mary A Frink (I think Adams Ma. I have found reference somewhere ? that Napoleons parents came from Maine. I will check where I found this , and get back to you. Also I have found a few Simmons families and two of them had a daughter named Dianthe. (I ahve seen her name spelled both Diantha and Dianthe.) We visited the NEHGS library in Boston last week. Myra

Hi

I am sorry to say that I can't help you with James B Lowell & Sarah Lowell, however I would contact that Church that I mention later in this message for birth records.

Year ago my mother visited Stanwood and Margaret Gilman of Phippsburg, Maine. I know that one of them was a cousin to my Mother but I don't recall which one. They are connected through Iola Lowell, dau. of Alfred & Eliza (Crockett) Lowell, that married Fred Lewis of Gloucester, MA. Anyways, The Gilmans wrote a book- Small Point "The Cape of Many Islands" 1667-1965, printed by Brunswick Publishing Co, Brunswick, Maine 1965. It is a oft cover book, 62 pages.

You asked me the other day if Amariel Wallace married again. I don't have any information on that but in this book it states that John Lowell married first Nancy Bachelder and upon her death married Amerial Wallace about 1800. John died age 36 and is buried in North Creek Cemetery in Ashdale. The other interesting thing is they state John Lowell's children were but three in number it seems. One of them being Captain Abner Lowell who supposedly retired in 1885 to California.

Have you tried Portland Maine for a marriage record for Charles & Abby. Charles had family there so perhaps they were married elsewhere. Also have you checked the Church records themselves. According to this book there was the Center Congregation Church and then 41 members left and formed I believe the Small Point Church. In 1845 it was re-organized as the Free Will Baptist Church of Phibbsburg. Early members were Abner Lowell & James B. Lowell. I know when I was researching my Goodwing family in Berwick, the Church records were a great help. Since James B. was a member here, perhaps they have information on his children.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Jill

Jill,

Bartlett Richard Lowell was born 1812 the son of John S Lowell and Amoriel Rachel Wallace. Apparently John S Lowell died in 1815, when Bartlett Richard was 3. Do you know what he died from?
Amariel doesn't die until Oct 4 1871, does she remarry after John S Lowell dies?

What other children did John S Lowell and Amoriel Rachel Wallace have?

Do you know anything other than a year for a date of birth on Bartlett Richard? I have also only a year for his death in 1887.

thanks for whatever light you can shine,
Gregory

Researching Gideon Lowell (1729-?), shipwright

I am researching Gideon Lowell, son of John Lowell and Rachel Sargent, husband to Mary Morrill, married 2 Feb 1760. I am especially interested in the role Gideon played in the construction of the frigate USS Alliance (originally to be the Hancock). Delmar Lowell's book credits him as the builder but the rest of the world credits the Hacketts. I assume the truth is somewhere in between. The USS Alliance under Capt. John Barry fought the Last Naval Battle of the American Revolution off the coast of Cape Canaveral, Florida. If you have any information it would be greatly appreciated.
