Hi there! My name is Leesa Lowery(nee Arnott).I just stumbled onto this website after googling my Daughters name, finding same name,1838!I live in Australia,my Husband Damon Lowery, is from Saginaw,MI.Our Daughters-Isis and Cleopatra(13yrs &10yrs) have done a brief family tree for school.
Damon's Father,Bobby married Josephine Jackson(dec),
GrandPa was James Lowery(1907)married Estella Brooks(1907),G.Grandpa was John Lowery(?)married Maud ? and
G.G Grandma Alice(1848). That's all we could gather from Bobby. He was born and still lives in Saginaw, was one of 10 kids.It got me thinking?...I am Caucasian,My Husband is African American, His Mother Josephine, told us there was 'Cherokee'in our ancestory but I thought on her side.I see via your comments,'Cherokee',is perhaps on the Lowery side?I'd love to hear your comments, and if you know of any of these relatives, and,if you are African American? Thank you,I hope your well. Leesa Lowery, (I am 40yrs Damon is 41yrs)

Hi there,

I am doing some voluntary research (through RAOGK - Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness) for a gentleman overseas. He is very keen to tap into the WELSH side of his family and wants to do so soon as his mother is very ill and he would love to give her some more information about her family. Frances Ann Lowery married John Welsh 1906 Lumley, Durham, England, so I know that you and I are researching the same people. Are you able to help me with the Welsh side at all? Anything at all would be great.

Best wishes
Annette Byron
annette.byron@xtra.co.nz

Hello. Do you have any Lowery's living around Greenup KY in the 1940's? My mother was raised by Rev. Walter Estill Lowery who married Minnie Logan Fitzpatrick. I have her family down, but hit a brick wall with Walter's parentage.
As far as I know he had only sisters. One named Margaret. Walter lived mostly in Kentucky and was a traveling evangelist. He helped to set up the Pilgrim Holiness campground at Maysville KY. He also worked at the Ciscoe Road Boys Home at Lexington for a good number of years.

Your's is a fascinating read Mr. Middleton. I am a Lowery
trying to work backwards from Oklahoma/Texas to Roanoke.
although caucasian myself, I know that there is an
association with my family and what would later become
the Cherokee that travelled the Trail of Tears to Oklahoma.
As you know, there is also an association between the
Lumbee and Cherokee.

I have read a great deal about the Lowery's you mention
in your writing but I have not been able to close the loop
between that branch and mine. I have also read a great
deal about Henry Berry. A fascinating story.

I'd be glad to lay out the connections that tie my family
back to the eastern seaboard, if you desire.

thanks

Yes, my Lowery line came to Indiana starting with James Dixon Lowery. You can look at the line on the Christensen Family Tree. Start with Ferne D. Lowery, my grandmother and work back. They were in a few places in Indiana, the latest being Monon which is near Lafayette. Marc Christensen.

Lowry/Lowery families in Simcoe County Ontario

I am trying to straighten out all of the branches of the Lowry families in Simcoe County Ontario. One branch headed by John lowry/Lowery and Martha/Mary Brown came from County Antrim. The other family, and the one I am researching, came from County Cavan Ireland. These families include:
Robert Lowry, married Elizabeth McGovern, son Charles, daughter Ann
George Lowry, married Ann Widdis
Jane/Elija Jane Lowery married William Strong
John Lowry married Eliza Pyle, had son John who married Catherine Hoey.
Other possible relatives: Ellen Lowry who married a Heaney
Their were several David Lowry's - one who was the son of Charles Lowry, who married Margaret Bassett and Sarah Tait; and one who was the son of John and Catherine. There was also a completely unrelated David Lowry who married Sarah McSherry. I would like to hear from anyone researching these families.
