am now looking for information on Thomas's son, listed in 1901 census in Montreal as Consell W. La?bten, living with his mother (Minnie) Olive, grandparents Frederick & Elizabeth (Elie) Grey, and his aunt Gertrude Maud Grey.

Thomas Arthur Lowton married Olivia/Olive Minnie Grey
1891 in Montreal at St Jude's Anglican Church.
Olive b.1870 Medway Kent to Frederick William Grey & Elizabeth Anne Fowler
I can't find anything on this couple after they were married ( I've looked in Canada & England.)
I am related to them through Olivia's younger sister Gertrude Maud Grey Cole who came to Canada from England with her parents the year that Olivia married Thomas.
If anyone has any information on this couple I would greatly appreciate it

Hi,
We are related somewhere along the line. My grandfather was called Henry Lowton and his grandfather came from Nottingham. They moved to Staveley Derbyshire sometime at the turn of the 1900's.
Have info re births and would love to hear from relatives.

Hi Jane my great grandfather was born in 1849 in Nottinghamshire he was Francis Lowton and later moved to Derbyshire to work in the coal mines though he was a trip dresser on 1 of the census'

No Cousin Gertie lives with one of Cousin Nancy daughters. I saw her when Preston died. She and Al wife came over to our son 's

house after the funeral. She looks real good and I enjoyed talking with her. Do you mind if I use your e-mail address from now on. I have lots of info on the Lowton and pictures. It is just to much to send but I can over time send you info on your direct line.. I have pictures of your grandmother aunts and uncles. Let me know if it will be ok about your address.

I did hear about Al, from my sister Sharon. Is Aunt Gertie living by herself? From what I remember Dad saying she didn't have any kids. But Aunt Nancy's were close to her. I would love to have any info you might want to share about my grandmothers family ( Lowton's), and if you have anything about the Midgetts. I'd love also to talk to Aunt Gertie, and her stories she has to share. It's such a shame I don't know that much about my Dad's side.

Well Susan we are cousins. Your Aunt Gertie is still living . She is in her 90 now. Mother passed away in 2001 and Daddy passed away in 1987. Your Aunt Nancy passed away March of this year. I remember your Mother and Father. I gave your daddy a old oil lamp that was his mother's. His mother and my grandmother were sisters. Yes I have info on the Lowton line. This is such a nice surprise .

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Mary that was my grandpartents, by chance do you have any info about the family, that you can share? Mary are you in Va? My folks took me on a trip to visit a sick Aunt Nancy many years ago, and we stopped and visited family a Mary Porter, who had her parents living with her. By chance is that you? My Fathers name is Jethro H. Midgett who was married to Elaine Midgett.

My great aunt Annie Lowton Midgett was married to a Jethro H. Midgett. He was born in the outer banks of North Carolina.

Greetings to all Lowton researchers.

There are 3 lines Wigan area Lancs and Somerset & Devon. Mine is the Wigan Lot.
I have tracked mine back only as far as William Lowton b 1846 and married in 1873 to Mary Ann Gaskell b 1850. At the time of the 1881 census they are living at 25 Manchester Road Ince Nr Wigan. Any one with further info please let me know. I have much info and documentation if anyone is interested

You may have discovered by now that there are a few Lowtons from London. My family are from Surrey. We think they moved to London from Devon in the 19th C. possibly with the stone masons transporting Portland stone from Dorset area.

John LOWTON : Convict

Searching for John LOWTON who was shown on the 1851 UK census as a prisoner in Exeter goal. He was convicted at Devon Epiphany 1851 Sessions. Sentence of the Court was Transportation for 10 years. Where was he transported to? I cannot find any records beyond this! Can anyone help?

Lowton family of Nottinghamshire

My great grandfather was John Ernest Lowton 1879-1955, who married Sarah Anne Gibson 1881 - ?. They lived in Carlton, Notts, but may have moved there from the Kimberley area when Gedling Colliery opened in the late 1800s. Other linked names are Shepperson, Hatherley, Taylor, Daykin, all from Notts.

I have only just seen your message.
As far as I know, my Lowton family has no connection with the London area. There seem to be 3 branches I have come across so far in England. They are from Lancashire, Devon and Nottinghamshire (my own branch).

In both Lancashire and Devon there is also a village called Lowton.

I am interested to know how you are getting on with your research - I am at a brick wall with mine at the moment, but have quite a lot of information on 19th and eary 20th century Lowtons (all in Notts though I'm afraid).

I really don't know anything about my Lowton except he John Lowton was born in England and he married Isabella Lake from
Devonshire.

I don't know his parents but I do know that he had a sister named Ann who was born and died in London.
