I start out with the Baker and Lucas Family from 1727 and go to our immediate family. My grandmother is Verna Esther Shank Behers. My grandmother was born in Snowshoe and she is the daughter of John Baptist and Mary Elizabeth Shank.

Hello all,
I am researching my Lucas line, and have come to a dead-end on one person. E M Lucas was born about 1832 in ohio according to the 1850 census. He was the son of Samuel R Lucas (1802-1884) and Charity Jarnagin (1803-1881). Samuel moved his family to Illinois later on in his life, but they started out living in Ohio. I can't find E M Lucas on any census after that. Does anyone know anymore?

It has been a long time since you posted about your Lucas/Lucus family at Splendora. I assist in historical research for the East Montgomery County Historical Society and the Splendora Cemetery is one of my major points of interest. Like you, I have many relatives buried there but I am only indirectly related to the Lucas' in several ways.

I am currently working on a History of Splendora and it's pioneer families (including Lucas/Lucus) and I like to discuss some things with you.

I have the Lucas family tree back to Garland Lemuel Lucas who was born about 1811 in Edgefield District SC. His wife was Pansy Peacock (some people call her Penny and on the 1860 census her name looks like Pency). Garland and Pansy are Samuel L. Lucus' paternal grandparents.

I am searching for a John (or Johnny) Lucas who lived and/or worked in Spearfish SD in 1944. This person dated a lady named Carolyn May Hudson Saum from Deadwood SD (deceased) sometime between March and July of 1944, and may have a son with her. According to family members, John (or Johnny) Lucas believed the boy to be his, and tried numerous times to find his son, but the boy was hidden from him by Carolyn and her family (the Hudsons.) Any information would be appreciated.

There was a Sarah Thornton b. 1804 in Mason Co., KY whose father was a James Thornton per information on Rootsweb. James' wife was Mary Lucas. Might be worth checking out this family as she might have married a cousin. I'm sorry I don't have any specific information for you about her. I would appreciate hearing from you if you find what you are looking for as they might tie into my family. My Mary Thornton was a sister of the Sarah I mentioned above.

They came to America with Gottliebena's Strobel relatives and were in SD, CO?, CA - Sonoma Co. Find them on 1900 census in Petaluma and can't find any of them on later censuses.
Believe Johannes died early 1900's - Gottliebena died 1941 Sonoma Co.,CA Where is she buried; where are her descendants?
They had children Christian, Paulina, Emma, Lavina, Edward, and Henry.

My father was Joseph Lucas(no Second Name) born in Vancouver BC 1928 but I cannot locate info on his father. Possibly my grandparents came over before or during WW1 from Yugoslavia.

I have an Eli Lucas, born 1796 in Virginia, who moved to Belmont County, Ohio, and married Martha A. Barker in 1831. My Martha Barker [daughter of Elijah and Tabitha Piatt Barker] was born 1812-1813 in Belmont County, Ohio. I show them as having 11 children, but none are named Albert. I am descended from their son, Reuben Lucas, born 28 October 1832, who married Hannah Ann Cooper in 1866. Their daughter, Ella Louise Lucas, was my great-grandmother, whom I remember very well.

A copy of Sarah Barker Sweney's death certificate (Sarah was Martha's sister) is how I obtained their mother's maiden name. Elijah was initially identified through his written approval for Sarah to marry Charles Brandon.

I am researching my cousin’s family tree for her and have traced her ancestry back to her great great grandfather Richard Lucas (born Usk, Monmouthshire around 1823). I can find Richard baptism records in the Usk Parish records on 29 Jan 1826 which tells me that his parents were Richard and Mary. I have also found the 1841 census records for him which tells me that that his father Richard was born in Monmouthshire around 1791 and his mother Mary was also born in Monmouthshire around 1801. Trawling through the Usk Parish records I find that the elder Richard is described as a “Fisherman”. There are also a few other Lucas families in Usk at that time also described as Fishermen which I am guessing might mean they are part of an extended family, although I cannot find the link as yet.
My searches have found a possible record of Richard (bc 1823) marriage to Eliza but I am awaiting a copy of a certificate from the Registrar to confirm. However I have failed to locate any record of Richard’s (bc 1791) marriage or baptism.
Have your researches revealed any further information. I would love to hear as I seem to have hit a brick wall at the moment.
