I am looking for any relatives or connections to Anna Cathrina Henrietta Luck who came to Australia from Hamburg about 1871. She may have been married in 1872 to a Robert Lewis or Loius Fis(c)her. She seems to have had two daughters and a son and in 1891 my grandfather was born (and fathers name appears to have been Leo Stanners). He was put into an orphanage at 18 months - and given the surname of Fisher.
I would dearly love to solve the mystery as there are no death certificates for either Luck, Stanners nor Fisher!

If you are still interested, I posted quite a lot of information on http://www.genforum.familytreemaker.com/luck/messages/443.ht..., several years ago (with a recent correction at http://www.genforum.familytreemaker.com/luck/messages/561.ht...). You might find something of help there.
There seem to be at least two Luck families originating in Weston Favell, and I should like to trace a connection, which I am sure must exist. Apart from the ones mentioned in my post, there was a family which included Michael Luck, born 1822, the son of William Luck Born 1796 and Elizabeth Sharman, born 1801.
Have you any ideas about a possible link?

Hi Phil,

I am looking for a Richard Luck - but my one was having children in Northamptonshire 1776-1782 - the very time yours was fighting in the American Revolution - so they must be different Richard Lucks. I haven't worked on the Luck line for a while (am hampered by the fact that they are or became Baptists and there are large chunks of Baptist records that are lost).

However, I resently bought a CD of births/baptisms (1750-1812) from Alan Clarke (who sells a number of Northamptonshire data CDs and also does free look-ups. And it looks like your Richard Luck is on there! He was baptised 7th Apr 1754 in Whiston C of E church - son of Samuel and Elizabeth.

The website is: http://www.northants-familytree.net/index.html.

Regards

Helen

Probably your still not connected but thought I would post anyways. I have a Luck Northampshire Connection. My ancestor was Richard Luck who was born ??? about 1750's, based on a Quebec Land Petition he was born in Whiston in Northampshire. He was a member of the 53rd & 24th Regiment from 1775 to 1792 serving in the American Revolution and utlimately marrying and settling in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Have found on the internet one possibility a He had a Richard Luck was baptized on the 4th of May 1751 in Great Billing, the son of Richard and Sarah Luck.

Would like to prove this line.

Regards,

Phil

Hi Carol, Sorry for the delay in replying. What I know is that Richard Luck (1815-1879) was my great, great grandfather. He married his second wife Eliza Murch 3 July 1855. My great grandmother Elizabeth Jane Luck (Isaac's half sister) was born in about 1863 in Lindfield Sussex. She married William Pagden in 1887 in Wivelsfield, Sussex. My Grandmother, Amelia Elizabeth Pagden, was born in 1889 in Wivelsfield, Sussex.

I didn't know anything about Isaac, except that he was referred to by my grandmother's brothers as Uncle Isaac and that in the 1851 census he lived with his father, brother and a housekeeper in Cuckfield, Sussex.

Hope some of that is of interest.

Helen

Hello , my Grandmother is a Luck and I have some Luck history on my ancestry site . I will let you visit my site to see if we have the same information . I am looking for my Grandmother's sister Mary . Their father Joseph Henry Luck married three times and had family with two of his wives that I know of. My Grandmother Catherine and her sisiter Mary were sent to Ireland when their mother Bridget died, to be taken care of by Bridget's family , the Kennedy's from Dublin. Catherine was a novice nun in Dublin when her father brought her back to Poplar to care for his newborn son Frank and seven other children when their mother Grace Annan died in childbirth. Joseph Henry Luck then married for the third time to a widow Georgina Birch Ethrington . Catherine married herself in 1905, but I have not been able to find her sisiter Mary . I am in touch with one son of Grace and Joseph Henry Luck . I have the family traced back to Isaac Luck .Hoping to hear from you Catherine Thomas

I think that you must be related to me! Isaac Norton and Mary Jane Adnitt were my great-great grandparents. Their daughter Mary Ann Norton was my great grandmother - her and her husband Henry Ewington are buried in the Clifton on Dunsmore cemetary, which I visited earlier this year. I have photos of thier graves. I also have photos of Mary Ann Norton - her husband and children (one of whom was my grandmother) - but would LOVE to see a photo of Isaac Norton and Mary Jane Adnitt - I have never seen any! I have also not come across Stella Norton! Would be pleased to here from you directly - my email is helenfreebaat@yahoo.co.uk

Hi Helen,
I have Isaac's brothers and sisters - iden b.1841, Fanny b.1856, Jenny b.1857, Mary b.1858, Richard b.1860, Elizabeth b.1863, Thomas 1865, I didn't know there were 2 marriages but recognise the name Murch, my aunt talked about some Murch family members I think.
Isaac married twice - Mary Ann ? Cuckfield, and had Richard and Elise (Alice). I have traced Richard's children but got no further. Isaac then married Rose Stoner and they had my grandmother Grace Luck.
I don't know about the Jewish connection but my father alwaysb said Isaac was Jewish but converted before he married my g granmother, no evidence of this although he was very religious but refused to join the Baptist Church which he helped to build. My g.mother's family were all Baptists.
So can you tell me what you know of Elizabeth's/your family? I understand that the Lucks originated in Sussex - Pensley or Beckley? Isaac lived in Witersham Kent before moving to London where my family grew up. My aunt used to talk of Richard and his family emigrating to Australia in the 30s but haven't traced - I am now living in Australia, we emigrated in 1992.
It's great to have a connection - this family has been very difficult to follow since I haven't found anyone interested and I do quite a bit of geneology. Look forward to hearing from you. carol

Hi Helen, this is the first 'hit' I have ever had with this family so I am so pleased! I have 7 brothers and sisters of Richard Luck's including Iden. I am the ggrandter of Isaac Luck through his 2nd marriage. Richard and Eliza were his children through 1st marriage. Can you let me know what your own interest is in the family? I will post what I know of the family so far. Carol

Dear Jan, (I assume),
My name is John Richard, & George Thomas was my 2nd G Grandfather. Having said that, I have had 'no luck' whatsoever with this research. My interest is in his son George, b.1844. A bit of a Houdini I'd say. Among others, he was partnered/married to my G Grandmother, Amelia Jane Doyle, after she died in Gloucester, he took off again, and I believe died in Blayney 1926. Hardly left any 'paper trail' at all. Only too happy to pass on whatever I have, and maybe you may have something that will help me?

regards,
John Richard
email: hutcheson253@msn.com
I believe Isaac Luck (born about 1845) was the son of Richard Luck (1815-1879) born in Sussex and his first wife. Also believe there is a Jewish connection. Richard's father was called William Luck. Haven't got much further than that so far. Isaac seemed to have had a brother called Iden (born about 1841). I don't think Eliza was Isaac's mother, but his step mother. I would be interested to hear if you have any further information since you made your posting.

Further followup (didn't think I had this information with me). After a quick look, I actually have two (2) death certificates:

20/4/1871 Drayton, Qld - Lydia Luck (nee Thompson). She was married to Thomas Luck. Richard Billingham is mentioned as the informant (son-in-law of deceased). Elizabeth (Lydia) is noted as issue - aged 40.

19/4/1899 Greenmount, Qld - Lydia Elizabeth Bellingham (nee Luck). She was married at age 20 to Richard Bellingham in Northamptonshire, England. Phoebe is noted as issue - aged 40.

I think that should help you out.
Hi Sonia,

My direct line goes through Edward (Phoebe's brother). The death certificate is for Lydia Luck (nee Thompson) who married Thomas Luck. I suspect she is your Elizabeth Lydia's mother. They are from Northamptonshire. I assume you are talking about Lydia Elizabeth Luck (b1831) who married Richard Billingham (b1831). From my research, it appears that English records (from Northamptonshire) have Billingham while most of the Australian records have Bellingham. Please feel free to contact me directly with further questions and I can see what I can do to help. My research is more in the Luck line but I did gather quite a bit on Billinghams/Bellinghams along the way as well. Thanks to Helen (see earlier posts), we have established the link to a missing line of descendants via Mary Ann Luck (sister of my Edward) who seemed to disappear off the planet when the rest of the family emigrated to Australia.

Cheers, Peter

Hi Sonia

Do you have a photo of Rebecca Willmington's grave in the Drayton cemetery? She's the daughter of Lydia Elizabeth Luck.

Regards
Patricia Rose

Hi Anna

I would love more information on how/where/when Thomas Luck died. And where he is buried. The information I have says he died in 1858 and is buried in Woronora Cemetery, NSW, but that can't be right, for the cemetery was only opened in 1895.

I am descended from Lydia-Rebecca-Edith-Florence-Josephine.

Regards
Patricia Rose
Brisbane
