I checked my Ludwig files and this is all I have on Leonard. Someone sent this back in 1998. No connection to my line.
Kerns' book Historical Records of
Old Frederick and Hampshire Counties, Virginia:

Ludwig, Leonard (1750-1804),served as a Private in Capt. Bayer's Maryland Company of the Revolutionary War. His wife Catherine Rotruck (1751-1834) is buried beside him, in the Sloan Family Graveyard, on U.S. Route 50, west of
Romney, W. Va. Across the road is the Old Stone House built by Richard Sloan in 1790. In the same graveyard are: Andrew Ludwick, died Aug 20,1872, aged 77 years, 6 months; James C. Ludwick (1840-1906) and his wife Sarah J. (1842-1915); Elijah H. Ludwick, born Oct. 16, 1844 and died Feb 20,1929; Annie Ludwick, July 6, 1836 to Feb 13, 1915; and Sallie Ludwick, Jan 24, 1887 to May 30, 1929. I think she belonged to James C. and Sarah J.
Ludwick.
The "Mad king Ludwig II" Our family's castle was the one that Disney made Cinderella's castle after. If you are still looking for some one to talk to about the Ludwick's I would be happy to talk to you.... I am sorry but thats about all I know.

Have you had any success documenting the children of Jacob? I believe he had several children but am most interested in George (b: 1798) and Daniel (B: 1799). My ultimate goal is to document that they are indeed brothers. George is my grandmothers great grandfather. Thanks

I have found a little more information about my great-grandfather. I think his parents were Harry Ludwick and Margaret Tracy. Harry Ludwick was born about 1836 in Pennsylvania (so says the 1880 census). I believe Harry died about 1898. Harry and Margaret had the following children:
Jennifer born about 1875
Ella born about 1877
Daisy born 20 Feb 1880
Charles born about 1882
Carl (my great-grandfather) born 20 June 1888

Daisy Ludwick married Volmer Clements (he was born on 1 May 1883 and died on 16 June 1921). They were married on 31 Oct 1903 in Hancock county OH. Daisy and Volmer had 4 children:
Florance
Earl born on 27 May 1905 died on 31 July 1982
Albertha born on 17 Dec 1906 died on 18 Oct 1990
Margaret born about 1910 and died about 1939

Florance Clements married a Mr. Wagner.

Earl Clements married Lillian Veronica Hearn.

Albertha Clements married Juluis Jesse Gendron and they had the following children:
Betty
Glenola
John
Julia
Louise

Margaret Clements married a Mr. Brooks

If any of these names sound familiar to you please let me know.

Thanks,
-Jen

Carl Tracy Ludwick born 20 June 1888 in OH

Carl Tracy Ludwick (born 20 June 1888 in OH) is my great-grandfather. He was married to Emma Kotton (born abt 1890 in Cuba, New York). They had 4 children: Margaret (born abt Feb 1911 in Akron, OH), Hazel G (born abt April 1914 in Akron, OH), Grace Marie - my grandmother (born 24 Aug 1917 in Akron, OH & died 22 Aug 2001 in Hiawassee, GA), and Charles L (born about Nov 1919).

I have found the 1910 US Census record where Carl & Emma were married and living in Akron, but none of the children had been born yet.

I have found the 5 June 1917 WWI Draft Registration card that Carl filled out and it states that he had a wife and two children. Grace was born 2 months later and Charles was born about 2.5 years later.

I have found the 1920 US Census record where Carl & Emma were married and living in Akron, and all 4 of the children had been born.

Between 1920 & 1930 something happened to the family. My grandmother didn't talk about it much, but I know that her and her siblings ended up in/out of foster care and the orphanage in Akron. I think my grandmother said that her mother died, but I'm not sure.

The 1930 US Census shows Grace living with Frank & Elizabeth Schroeder. The census says the relationship between Grace & Frank was "Cousin".

The 1930 US Census shows Charles & Hazel living with Augustus E & Lora L Mallison. The census says the relationship between the 2 Ludwick kids and the Mallison's was "Boarder". I'm going to guess that the Mallison's were a foster family, because the census lists other children with different last names as being "Boarder" residents in the house.

I found where Charles joined the Army on 20 Jan 1941 at Fort Hayes in Columbus, OH.

That is all I know about the Ludwick family. If anybody knows anything about any of the people I have listed, please let me know. I'm trying to learn more about my grandmother's family.

Thanks.
Oh, one other thing. Below is a post I placed on a different message board.

Hi, I'm looking for information on the family of James Paul (born abt 1861 in Ohio). The 1900 U.S. Census says that he was living in Akron, OH with his wife Mary (born abt 1852 in Pennsylvania) and the following children:
Daisy Ludwick born abt 1875 in West Virginia
Charles Ludwick born abt 1812 in West Virginia
Carl Ludwick born abt 1888 in Ohio

Were these really the children of James & Mary?

I'm trying to determine if the Carl Ludwick listed in this family is the Carl Ludwick who is my great-grandfather.

Unfortunately, no I do not know the names of his parents. All of the information I have about him and my grandmother's mother, brother, and 2 sisters are in my original post. Although the 1910 & 1920 census state that his father was born in Pennsylvania and his mother was born in Ohio. I only know Carl's birthday because I found his WWI draft registration card. I'm really at a dead-end with my grandmother's family.

Thanks for checking your information for me. Any suggestions about what to do next?

Hello. I think we come from the same line of Ludwicks. My ggg-grandmother was Catherine Ludwick, who married John Henry Clark. Her father was Joseph, son of George (a son of immigrant Jacob.) I cannot find much confirmed information and was hoping you would be willing to share what you have on this line of Ludwicks. Or, if you would be willing to put me touch with the gentleman that has done extensive research and that you referred to in the message posted on April 25, 2006. Thanking you in advance, Debra.
